    Help!!

Try distracting yourself. It helps me to eat and be on the computer. It's hard when I go to my brother's for a meal. Then I try and distract myself by standing up and walking around in between bites. Good luck!

Is anyone taking Phentermine / Adipex

About 5 years ago I tried adipex. I only lost about 20 lbs and eventually gained the weight back. You may experience a plateau at first but i'm sure you will do just fine once you start to get your fills and get to your "sweet spot".

    Pain in my tummy ...

If your band slipped one of the signs is heartburn and in some cases unable to keep things down. Have you called your doctor?
  5. lol I love this post! You are so correct. I know I felt very uncomfortable. I couldn't sit down because it pulled at my incisions, I couldn't lay down because it pulled at my incisions. I would get back spasms from the gas pain. I could hardly sleep the first 4 days because i'm a side sleeper and I couldn't lay on my side. I was tired and constipated (get used to that). It will get better once the gas pain goes away and your incisions begin to heal (although you will get a case of the itches from healing lol) and of course as you begin to drop the weight you will really begin to feel great. good luck!
  6. Basically what I did was put the things I really wanted on my plate and avoided the things I knew would get me stuck (rolls). So I put 2 pieces of turkey on my plate with a small scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy. After I ate that I waited a few minutes and had a bit of Jello. I was good to go and didn't feel overstuffed and nothing got stuck. If you want to try everything just put a small dallop on your plate. Make sure you eat your turkey because that's the most important thing.

    worried!

The lapband will help control portion sizes but it will not help you out mentally. Unfortunately that is something you will have to deal with on your own because what's gonna happen is you are going to find a way to eat around your band (slider foods). I would definitely start seeing a counselor to help you out with your binge eating issues. Good luck!!
  8. Wow you look awesome congrats!!!!!!

    Can you see your port?

My port sticks out but isn't noticeable over my clothes. It's uncomfortable especially if I lay on my stomach but I deal with it and jokingly call it my tumor.

    Numbing medication with fills

When I first got banded I was so terrified of the needle I had them numb me and eventually I got over that fear that I no longer get numbed. I found it was less painful to not get numbed than it was to get numbed.

    the new you

I haven't done anything too drastic. I wear my hair shorter because my face doesn't look too fat and as I'm gaining a new wardrobe every 6 months or so I'm getting clothes that are more stylish and I even have a couple of skirts that go to the knee instead of the ankle.

    After the surgery....

    I Hate You All!

That is a shame that insurance companies won't cover WLS. you would think it would be cheaper to insure you in the long run because of less health issues.

What food do you miss the most???

I miss the ritual of eating a meal period. There's not any food in particular that I can't eat if I don't take my time but it's hard especially during the holidays because I can't a whole lot I have to put what's really important on my plate and skip the rest.
  16. Fast food. Anytime I eat fast food no matter how slow my stomach kills me and it tastes disgusting.

    Is it all worth it???

Lets see 21 months out down 110 lbs. Without lapband I would be 300+ lbs and miserable! For the 1st time since I was 18 I am almost out of the 200s!!! I have never been happier in my life than I am now. It's been tough letting go out my relationship with food. On top of it being a physical journey it's also been a mental one but it's been well worth it!
  18. I'm 5'4 and weigh 206 lbs. on top I wear between a Ladies XL and a womens 1X depending on the shirt and on the bottom i'm a Size 20. That shows you how disproportioned I am!!!! Yet after high school when I weighed 206 I was a size 18/20 on top and bottom. Weight loss works in mysterious ways!!!

Eating is becoming a pain in the arse!!!

OMG I so totally understand your frustration!!! My band is really tight until later in the day as well. I'm struggling to come up with what works for me as far as food goes because my band is very fickle. Yesterday I was actually able to eat alot but today i haven't been able to keep hardly anything down!

    Success despite a Stall!

You look awesome!!! Losing weight is extremely frustrating especially when you have to fight for each and every pound you lose.

    Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

The morning of my surgery I woke up and a major snow storm hit the Detroit metro area. Needless to say we trekked it to the hospital downtown which is 30 minutes away. The hospital got me checked in right away. They hooked me up to my iv but my doctor was running late due to the messy roads so I had to wait a bit. I was so nervous about my surgery the doctor finally gave me some valium which relaxed me right away. Then they whisked me off to surgery. I woke up a couple hours later and my parents came back to the recovery room. I couldn't leave until I tinkled only I couldn't because they gave me medicine to dry up my urine so I lied about it because I just wanted to get out of there. I was home by 2 p.m. that afternoon and got into my bed thinking I would actually relax and snooze only my dog had other ideas as she jumped on me. Then my cat decided he couldn't be left out. I couldn't make any sudden movements because of my incisions so there I laid helpless in bed yelling for my mom to come get my animals. Later that evening my sister was kind enough to bring me some liquid Tylenol only I managed to spill it all over me and my pillow and blanket. I was quite accident prone that day but I wouldn't change a single minute of it!

Welcome to the world of the banded!!! Congrats to you! I know this has been the best decision I have ever made and I've never been happier.

Can you feel the food pass through ??

I can feel when the food goes down. You're not the only one. My sister can feel it too when her food goes down.

wish it made sense at the time

Hey don't beat yourself up over there. Just go back to basics. I am at my spot and I can still eat bread. I just don't eat it too often because protein is on my priority list and bread doesn't have any and since I can only eat so much it's at the bottom of my list. Just take your fills slow you will get to your sweet spot eventually. good luck with everything.

What to do with too-big clothes?

I passed some onto my sister and the rest onto the Salvation Army. It's a nice tax write-off at the end of the year.
