    Banded 4-14, 1PM

Congrats on your surgery! That's pretty cool that your weight dropped that much. Just start walking around your house, that will help alot with all the pain.

    Incision questions

2 poke holes, 2 incisions that are 1 inch and 1 that is about 2 inches. That's where my port is and also where they repaired my hiatal hernia at.
  3. Have someone rub your back and patting your back almost as if they are burping a baby. That really helped me alot when it got to be really bad.
  4. If you do slip up and eat something that you're not supposed to you're right on the beach. Go for a nice long walk.

    Help!!! I need some advice

I didn't accept any pain meds either. i did liquid tylenol. you're just uncomfortable for a few days that's all. just make sure you have a good support team at home for about 3 days or so.

    question about internal stomach size

Over time from lack of being filled constantly our stomachs do shrink. I think you will be surprised by how little you will be able to eat. just think that you are doing this for the health of your baby and right after you have your baby you can get your band filled and get right to losing the baby weight. good luck!

    Help!!! I need some advice

On surgery day I was scared spitless too but they have this wonderful drug that the anesthesiologist gave me it's called valum. great stuff. I was nice and relaxed by the time they came back to give me the rest of my medicine to knock me out. I didn't have a care in the world by that point.

    Why are people so MEAN???

Being around food the first week of the protein diet was very tough. Once you adjust to your new diet you will be okay and it will be easier being around those foods and not indulging. I'm sorry that your relatives are insensitive. You are doing the right thing by getting the lap band done. Just stay focused and don't let anyone bring you down. You are on your way to a healthier and happier life!!!

Should I skip my next fill

If you are comfortable being where you are at then yes I would put it off. Save the money. Buy a few new clothes and treat yourself to a day at the spa or something instead for all your hard work.

    Another Newbie :)

Welcome! Good luck with your 6 month diet. You will do just fine.
  11. Did you workout afterwards? lol. Hey it happens. We will have setbacks but we will get there. Just make sure you stick to your diet the rest of the week and do some extra exercising.

Restriction off like a light switch ??

That doesn't make sense that your doctor only fills your band every 6 weeks. Maybe call and see if they can fill you a little more.

    newby

2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks mushies so a month after my surgery I was finally able to eat solid foods.
  14. You will start to feel like your old self about a week after your surgery.
  15. Yea you just have to grin and bear it. i had the hardest time drinking protein shakes. The other liquids went down just fine. i just plugged my nose and drank it down.

    Not yet banded! coming soon!

I'm sorry about all the negative stories you've heard about the LB. I can tell you that I know a bunch of people who have had it done lately and coincidentally all by the same doctor and their experiences have been nothing but positive! I don't think i've ever once had anybody even say anything negative to me about the LB procedure. GB procedure yes but not LB. I'm sorry you're going through this. Just tell them that sucks to be that person and change the subject. Good luck!

I'm thinking about changing mine. It's currently at 125 but I think 140 may be more realistic.

Do you need to lose those pounds you've gained?

You sound like you are determined to do it. You know what you need to do and you will get it done!!! Have patience. I fight tooth and nail for every single pound i've lost. I know how easy it is to gain weight. Especially from bc pills! You go!!!

    No fills yet :(

Yea i'd be finding a new doctor. I only had to wait 6 weeks.

    Exercise Obsession

Yea I no longer eat fast food. I no longer buy junk food from the grocery store. I make exercising my priority. I don't even recognize myself anymore. lol. I'm turning into a fitness freak.

Your doctor should start you up slow and fill your band 1-2 cc's at a time until you get to your "sweet spot". I'm at 5cc's right now and I can still eat anything I want. That doesn't mean I eat everything I want. I certainly watch what I eat, be careful of my portions and I make sure my meals are balanced. I also eat alot of fruits and vegetables too. I know as time goes on I will be more restricted and at that time I may or may not be able to still eat what I want. I may have to give up steak and a few other foods for a bit but the sacrifice will be worth it. I will have my health and that's important. Especially since I want to live a long and healthy life.
  23. Now's the time to do it! Especially for the sake of your health.
  24. Hey I'm not that far off from you and here I am 2 1/2 months later and down almost 40 lbs. You can do it!

Why don't you think it will work for you? You do have to make some lifestyle changes yea but that's for any diet you go on. LB is the safest procedure there is - aside from same old dieting and exercise which you will lose some weight but then you always gain it back and then some. If you do what your doctor tells you and follow everything properly and even add in some light walking for exercise you will do just fine and in no time you will be to your goal weight. Good luck!
