    Help!

Your doctor does fills every 3 months? I get a fill every 3-4 weeks. You need another fill ASAP. Good for you though for throwing out the ice cream and contacting your nutritionist. Good luck to ya!!!

Good restriction, so why the hunger pains?

Probably because your band is looser in the evenings than it is in the mornings. My doctor told me that I would probably be much hungrier in the evenings and less hungry in the mornings. So far that seems to be true.
  3. About 45 - 50 lbs in. I could see my collar bone get bonier. My shoulders are beginning to get bony and i'm starting to notice i'm getting more of a shape in my back end. I haven't really noticed anything in my thighs yet though I have lost weight there. In my legs around my knee i've lost some weight. I'm actually starting to get knee caps.

    To Diet Or To Lifestyle

That's definitely true. The word diet sets you up for failure right there. You have to change your eating habits because obviously since we are obese it hasn't been working for us. Since I got banded I've made sure I eat fruits and veggies daily. I don't buy junk food. If i'm at someone's house (like a party or something) and it's there I will have some but I don't buy it. Same thing with Cookies, cakes and brownies. Usually those items were at the top of my to buy list. Not anymore. I try to stick to healthier foods whenever I can. If not I allow my self to have 1 or 2 or a half piece or whatever, just not the whole bag or the whole pan. I don't really think about them much anymore.
  6. I didn't lose much. I had 5 weeks in between my surgery and 1st fill. I probably lost about 7 lbs in between. I lost 5 from being on the liquid diet for 2 weeks and then for the mushies and the transition back to solids i didn't lose anything and then I finally lost about 2 lbs and went for my 1st fill.

    Name Your NSV

I had to quit wearing a ring because it kept sliding all over the place. I went from pants size 26/28 (barely fitting into them) to a size 24. Although 24's are getting too big on me. I tried on size 22 pants the other day and they fit but were very tight. Went from size 26/28 in shirts down to an 18/20. I think i'm starting to grow out of my 18/20's. My bra went from 46D to 42D. I'm starting to lose actual cup size now so I may end up as a large C when all is said and done. As far as shoes go, my foot isn't as wide as it used to be. I have to get new crocs in a smaller size because the ones I have are too big. I tried on a pair of Candies shoes at Kohls the other day and they fit. Usually my foot would've been too wide and they wouldn't of fit. Me and my 4 year old nephew can snuggle up together on the couch with no problems (before I would've taken up the whole space). Can't wait to get on an airplane next month to see how I fit in the airplane seat! Hope I don't need a seatbelt extender. I can cross my legs and keep them crossed for a while. I even find myself doing that at work. My 8 year old nephew can totally put his arms around me now. My biggest will be the day I no longer wear plus size clothing and make it to onederland.

    just curious

Wow you are not too far from your goal! I wouldn't worry about how you are doing compared to others because everybody loses at different rates. I was losing 2 lbs a week every week and lately it seems i'm losing 2 lbs every other week. It's frustrating! I have such a long way to go! Congrats to you! Before you know it you will be at your goal weight!

Does someone have an iced tea recipe?

Since giving up my Diet Pepsi I started drinking ALOT more iced tea and this is my favorite!!! Also, since it's nice out I'll stick 2 or 3 tea bags into a pitcher, fill it with water and let it sit outside in the sun for a couple of hours before refrigerating.
  10. Congrats! At least you only have to do a 3 day liquid diet. I had to do 2 weeks!! Good luck tomorrow!

    Pounds lost 1st year

So far I am 58 lbs down and I have another 6 1/2 months to go before my 1 year bandaversary. I'm hoping to lose 32 more lbs for a even 100 by my 1 year date. my weight loss has drastically slowed down. I was losing 2 lbs a week and now i'm losing 2 lbs every other week.
  12. Hmmm good question. Just be careful because you don't want your clothes to get too baggy. You might be walking down the hall one day and they may fall off ya! I don't think you're gonna be able to wait that long. 6 months you will probably lose about 40 - 50 lbs maybe more depending upon your body.

    looking for lapband buddies :)

Hey Panda. Congrats to you! Lapband isn't a diet as it is a change in life. Sorry that your family isn't really supportive but i'm sure as time goes on they will see that lapband is different from "dieting" and will hopefully become more supportive. Glad you seem to be doing it for the right reasons. I started my testing the day after my birthday and smartly waited until after the holidays so I could "enjoy" them one last time. You can still "enjoy" them just in alot smaller portions. lol. Good luck!

    Missed by this much

Wow that is so awesome! I can't wait to get there one day. Congrats to you!
  15. I do have one NSV I would like to report. My mom and I were at Kohl's over the weekend looking at shoes (my favorite) but I've never bothered to try on stilhetto heels because my feet have always been too wide. I've lost some weight in my feet and they aren't are wide anymore. I tried on a pair of Candies and they fit perfectly. They looked good too. I didn't buy them because I didn't have the money but I may go back one payday and get them. But I was very excited to know I could fit into a pair of those shoes!

    Sound familiar?

What an a**. I have a co-worker who has made comments about this lady who works in another department who is overweight. It ticks me off. She is a supervisor and really shouldn't be talking that way about people. It really makes me wonder what she says about me behind my back ya know? I don't know who she thinks she is to sit there and judge people about their weight. People like that we have to write off as being ignorant and move on. It's not worth our time. They are always going to be ignorant.
  17. That is crazy! I would've been PO'd if they sent me away without a fill. They find my port right away every time. I'm sorry you had to go through this experience.

    2 fill questions

Yea sounds like you're due for another fill to me. I go every 4 weeks for a fill. Yea my doctor does that for when you go on vacations. Hope you have a good one!!! I'm going to Disney World at the end of August. I won't ask for an unfill because for the most part I have no problems when it comes to eating meals. I just eat a lot less.
  19. I only took 3 days off work so I used personal time.
  20. Congrats! You are truly an inspiration to us.

    Why I love my band. . .

I'm flying to Orlando at the end of August and I'm anxious to see how I fit in the airplane seat. I hope I won't need a seatbelt extender. I didn't need one when I flew to Vegas 4 years ago and was 40 lbs heavier.

    Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

My surgery was scheduled on a Wednesday. We got a really bad snowstorm the night before. Fortunately my mom was able to come into town and she has 4 wheel drive. We had to be to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. Once we got there it wasn't long at all before they called my name. I hugged my parents and went into the pre-op area. I got my gown on and sat there for a few minutes. Then the nurse came over and started to get my iv started. It took a good half hour and several attempts before they finally got my iv in my arm. The anesthesiologist came into the room and gave me some xanax which was great because it made me stoned out of my mind and my nerves were gone. About an hour later they wheeled me into the OR. They put those things on my legs to massage them to prevent blood clots. Then they poked me in the stomach. Then there were 2 anesthesiologists in the room with me and they were putting medicine in my iv and they put a mask on my face. That's the last thing I remember. I woke up about 2 1/2 hours later and got right out of bed. I refused all meds. I didn't want any drugs. They removed my iv, I went to the bathroom and tried to pee. They gave me medicine to dry me up so I couldn't go. They told me I couldn't leave until I went to the bathroom. So I sat there another hour with my parents and went to the bathroom again. This time I lied because I was ready to go home. I got dressed and was home by 1:30 that same afternoon. That 1st day I did alot of walking. I tried to sleep but I was very uncomfortable. I tried to sit on the couch and was very uncomfortable so I walked. When my back hurt too bad I had one of my parents rub my back. I took liquid tylenol for pain. That 1st week was uncomfortable. I'm a stomach sleeper and had a very hard time trying to sleep on my back. Here I am 5 months later feeling great and I don't regret a single minute!!!

    Average age of a Bandster?

I'm 32 and I should've gone through with this 4 years ago when I had the chance (and the approval). I started the process by attending a seminar and a referral from my PCP. Stupid me never made the follow up appointment with the doctor. It took me 4 years and 30 more lbs before I finally said enough was enough and committed myself to it. Best thing I've ever done. I've never been more happier in my life than I am right now! I can't wait for bathing suit season next year!!!

    I Need Help

My advice would be to eat more Protein instead of drinking it. Good luck to you. You can get back on track!!!

Why do they say it?s cheating?

I'm starting to get people at work notice my weight loss. The office I work in, everybody knows I had lapband done, but people in other offices have no clue (I work for the County). People come up to me and say what's your secret. I've told one person because she had a friend who is obese and she wanted to be able to pass along my advice to her friend so I gave her my surgeon's card. But another lady who approached me I just kinda played it off and said thank you. You're right people do watch you. My dad asks how much you up to now and there are times I don't lose anything that week and he's like that's it. That really annoys me. I finally had to sit him down and tell him that my weight loss is going to be much slower with lapband because the lb is a tool to help you lose weight. It doesn't lose weight for you. I still have to control what I eat. Ugh! Frustrating.
