  1. Couldn't be happier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My band is exactly what i needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. the band does require a lot more discipline...but the bypass loss isn't as easy as some people think (i was of those people)....my best friend had bypass surgery about 5 weeks ago now...she has the wrong mindset...which is a huge problem for any wls...but she has lost 26 pounds in 4 weeks...which is excellent...but i myself and plenty of other lap banders have lost just as much if not more in 4 weeks...any loss is great!!!!!!!!! she has also made 3 trips to the hospital...2day is her 3rd trip....she has not pooped for 9 days...i wouldn't have let it go that long...it seems to me that there r a lot of complications for SOME bypass patients after the surgery ....wls will work 4 u as long as u work with it
  3. i was just getting ready to send u a message!!!!!!!!!! lol....i just saw ur incredible loss!!!!!!!!!!!! 120 pounds in 8 months...i'm getting ready to celebrate my 8 months in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how many pounds to goal 4 u????

  6. 2Flyguys

    Oatmeal

IF IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER U EAT OATMEAL THAN ITS PROBABLY THE OATMEAL..eventually it got to the point where i was in pain no matter what i ate....i had the pain under my ribs if i drank too much water....the pain got worse and worse....i was feeling it in my back...my shoulder blades...i had an ultrasound and my m.d. saw the gallstones immediately...its common to have problems with ur gallbladder after wls....i can't wait for them to remove mine!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Oatmeal

maybe its not the oatmeal...i was having pains under the right side of my ribs after i ate chicken...turns out the pain is my gallbladder not the chicken....

    How did you change?

my surgeon agrees with monkey's surgeon....no snacks....3 meals a day....based on my work schedule i do eat around the sametime everyday...on the weekends i tend to skip meals...which isnt good...i know...i know...but i run errands like crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i stay away from fast food for the most part...if i'm out and about and starving i will get chili from wendys....a chicken breast from el pollo loco or grilled chicken strips from jack in the box....snacking...will start up really bad habits 4 me....luckily i'm at my sweet spot and stay full for 4 to 5 hours....
  9. here is my before and 10 pounds to goal pictures...i've lost over 125 pounds in under 8 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. my wings dont bother me much...the excess skin on the bottom of my stomach is what drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. oooooo...i have bat wings....believe me....lol....i havent hit the gym yet...i need 2 though....i'm a cardio maniac...but thats all i do is cardio

  12. i eat like a "typical bandster"...protein first always!!!!!!!!! i eat a 1/2 cup of food 3xs a day...i think my loss has been so big and fast bcuz of the amount of exercise i do....and i started walking the very first day i came home...i worked myself up from walking up the block to now speed walking- running 9-16 miles 6-7 days a week...exercise is a must...u must exercise...its hard at first but u will get use 2 it....good luck...i know u'll do great...message me anytime!!!!!!!!

  13. i only exercise once a day...i'm not that bad...lol...my insurance has been real cool about covering my panni...

  14. i felt like this was it...i felt like if i had surgery to lose weight i needed to really lose it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i also lost 37 pounds in my first 6 weeks and after that i just kept going...i take it day by day...i dont set goals...i dont know how many cc's r in my band...

  15. i don't have a sample menu posted....i always eat protein first...chicken...tuna...egg...i rarely eat red meat...not that i cant...but red meat tends to get me uncomfortably full...i eat a lot of beans...cheese...i eat everything i ate b4 i was banded...my portions r much...much...smaller...i dont have a sweet tooth....i do not eat bread..pasta...or rice...and i only eat a 1/2 cup of food 3xs a day....

  16. i am 5'8 and 170.4 pounds in that pic...i want to get down down to 160...i am having a panniculectomy in july....what insurance covers instead of a tummy tuck...not as good as a tuck...i have 4-5 pounds of excess skin on the lower part of my stomach...i just dont take pic of that mess...lol

  17. i think this is an excellent thread!!!!!!!!! i post threads about not whinnig...not using excuses...not blaming the surgeon...and of course members come down hard on me all the time...i could really careless...but ur right for those that have this surgery and look at as a magic bullet...well be the ones that fail...i have friend who is failing miserabely 4 weeks out of having bypass surgery because she thought she was going to sit back eat whatever she wants and watch the weight just fall off...and guess what?????? its not!!!!!!!! not even with the bypass!!!!!!!!! u have to work at it...period point blank...there is no easy way out...ur either going to use this tool or ur not...its that simple....

Please do NOT take this wrong..

i totally understand ur question rcruz...i have often thought to myself why was i able to be so successful with the band...why couldn't i have made the choice to eat less and healthier and exercise without the band...i have 3 reasons #1...i hated to feel hungry when dieting....i was always on atkins...and i would lose weight...my portions remained enuff to feed 6 people while on atkins...but i still managed to lose weight and then managed to put it all back and then some!!! my band totally controls my over-eating habits...#2 fast results...i dont know for sure...but i have never and dont know if i could've lost over 125 pounds in 8 months on a convential diet...i saw fast results from the start and kept on going....#3...i also had the mindset of "this is it...u went as far as having surgery to lose weight"....u have to do it right...period...no excuses...this is ur last and final chance...but i totally understand ur question....
  19. hey melissa...i have aetna ppo they r covering my panniculectomy...not a tummy tuck....like parrothead kathy said...if its a medical necessisty and u r having issues due to the "apron" (the flap of fat that hangs over) insurance will cover a panni...my dermatalogist and m.d. wrote letters to my insurance company letting them know its medically needed...i'm scheduled for surgery the first week in july....good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I look amazing??????? than u look unbelievable!!!!!!!!!! not at goal yet...i got about 8-10 more pounds to go!!!!!!!!!!

  21. i havent had any plastic surgery yet...i will be having a panniculectomy in july...not as good as a tummy tuck...but my insurance is going to cover it..
