My closest friend and I are as close as ever. She's a skinny mini cutie and has supported the whole thing! Even goes to the gym with me.
My boyfriend dumped me after the surgery and my other close friend who I went out with nearly every weekend completely stopped talking to me. She is also quite heavy and I think that has a lot to do with it in my situation

I had my first fill on May 11th. I feel like it wasn't enough and feel I should go back in for another.
Im curious, how long did everyone wait between their 1st and 2nd fill?
-
LOL!!! Thats too funny!

I have to measure everything... I still don't know when I'm full until I'm OVER full and then I get a sharp pain in my left shoulder.
Im interested to hear what others say.

PB stands for Productive Burp. Thats when food will come back up in a burp. I've had this happen once... since then I've majorly chewed my food. I couldn't stand the sensation!

Nope... They remove the tube before you fully wake up.

There is another thread here about the left shoulder pain. I too have suffered from left shoulder pain since my surgery on 3/30. Apparently there is a nerve at the bottom of your esophagus that is connected to your left shoulder.
In the other thread someone noted that it tends to flare up when either hungry or over full. Now that I've been aware of it being a nerve issue I noticed that for me it happens after I've eaten.
I now measure EVERYTHING I eat... It's getting better... But I still have pain from time to time.

I was able to sleep on my rightside at the hospital after surgery (my port is on my leftside) The only way I was able to lay on my side was to take a pillow and press it to my stomach as I rolled slowly to my side.
After about 10 days it didn't hurt much at all to lay on my side. I can now lay on my leftside without any issues. (Banded 3/30/09)

Thanks for sharing!! Congrats on the success from all your hard work! You look fab!
I definitely think I need to use a measuring cup instead of eyeballing it like I have been doing.

Glad to hear the fill went good!
My belching is already getting a lot better!!! Nothing is more embarrassing then loud stomach noises followed by a belch during a staff meeting! lol!

OMG! I was so angry with myself for not speaking to my surgeon about this during my 2 week postop checkup.
I thought I pulled a muscle... I had no idea this was common!
I'm AMAZED!

Hi Jan!
Congrats on your new weightloss journey! I was banded 2 weeks ago.... Both of my parents have been banded over the last few months!
-
Sounds like you are in what they call bandster hell...
I'm only 2 weeks out from being banded... and saw my Dr today for a check up. He told me it is not uncommon for people not to lose weight before their first fill.
And after the numerous threads I've read here it also sounds like finding the "sweet spot" with the fill can sometimes take a couple fills to get there.
Are you getting 60grams of Protein a day? Its important to get all the Protein in to continue weightloss.
Im sure more experienced banders will chime in... Hang in there!!

I'm only 2 weeks out from being banded... My Mom was banded a couple months ago and we talk about this issue all the time!!!
I'm so glad you brought it up... I'm interested to hear what people have to say.
I have stretch marks on my stomach so I'm pretty sure my skin is going to be loose and in excess once I take off the pounds!!!

I would find a seminar in your area and take your hubby with you. Maybe after he listens to a surgeon talk about it (and he can ask questions) he may feel better about it.

Hi! I'm 35, single, no kids.... I was banded on 3/30! I can't wait to hear how your first fill goes!
I'm belching soooo much since my surgery! eek! Did this happen to you? I'm hoping it goes away soon!
Hi from Arizona!

When I was worried about Aetna when I was starting this process (I too couldn't find a THING on their website...)
I called Aetna... spoke with an awesome rep and got all my questions answered plus they sent me out a packet of info. I was SHOCKED that they were so nice. You always hear horror stories about insurance companies... I was impressed.
Good luck!

I'm going to be banded on Monday also! WOOHOO! I'm just like you... excited... scared... and grateful! I just wish I was like you and had done this 10 years ago when I was your age!!!!
You have to take out all your piercings and do not wear any makeup or perfumes/lotions the day of surgery!
Good luck!!!

How cool!! I want to see before and afters of your forehead! I worked with a couple gals who swore by Botox but I didn;t know them before they had it done. Good for you for doing something all for yourself!

I am also getting banded on the 03/30. My pre-op appointment is not until Wednesday. Did you have to do a liquid diet, and if so how are you doing? I am really struggleing with it. Well keep us informed, good luck.Yes I've been doing the liquid diet... My dietician suggested adding Tirani sugarfree syrups to my Protein shakes... They taste AWESOME however the Splenda thats in the sugarfree stuff is NOT agreeing with me at all!!! I am lucky that my doc allows one chicken breast a day while on the pre-op diet. But with the Protein Shakes giving me such horrible diarrhea I haven't felt like eating!
Glad to know someone else will be banded on Wednesday!

Now that I'm on the liquid diet pre-surgery I'm having a lot of issues with Splenda.
I've never used it before or if I did it was infrequent and in small amounts.
Now I've been using Tirani syrups with my Protein Powder and soy milk. I have terrible diarrhea! I stress TERRIBLE diarrhea. Like I've never had it before!!!
Also I've had a severe mood swing to feeling very down in the dumps. I had chalked that up to being hormonal and being hungry possibly. But then I burst out crying for no reason at the grocery store today... Thats a problem!!!
Please tell me there are others out there that have had these problems!!! What alternatives do I have for my shakes now?
Onderland ! Whoo hooo!!!
