Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Gained 40lbs in 8 months
Hi, I was banded in Jan 19th, 2009. I was doing really good and lost 71lbs by my bandiversary, but I got sick. The weight lifting and exercising i was doing tightened my band by itself to the point I couldn't even get liquids down. In Jan this year my dr. unfilled my band so that we could start readjusting it. My life got complicated and I never went back in for the readjustment in Feb. I had noticed that some of my weight has came back on, so I made an appt to see my dr asap. I went Thursday 08/12/10 to get my fill. I found out i had put back on 41lbs of the 70 that i lost. I don't know how I let myself go backwards so much. Right now my dr has my band tightened so i can only get down my shakes, but I am already feeling like hope is lost. Has anyone gone through this? :cursing:

Help please
:confused:I think that my band has slipped but I am not sure. Can anyone let me know what they felt? Does it mean that I need another surgery? I was banded in Jan '09 and I have been doing fine, I have thrown up maybe 10 times in the whole 9 months I have had my band, but since I starting working out 2 1/2 weeks ago, I can't eat anything and sometimes I can't even drink my protein shake without feeling like something is stuck. I called my dr. but he seems to be busy cause I can't talk to him and the only open appt is for the 12th of this month. What should I do? Please help!!

Poll: How much do you exercise?
I just recently started going to the gym. I love it so far.. I am so motivated to go. Since about May my weight loss stopped and since I started at the gym I am back losing again. I do have a problem though.. does anyone else's band get really tight after they work out? I can't even drink after, sometimes for the whole day. Should I see my doctor about getting some fluid taking out?

Does your band tighten after exercise?
I have been noticing that I have the same problem.. I just started working out 3 weeks ago, and I go 4-5 times a week. Only even on days I don't go to the gym I really can't eat anything, or drink anything.. even if I take a big sip of water or my protein shakes I have that feeling like it won't go down. So I have been thinking of maybe loosening up the band a little.. does anyone have any advice?

I am totally on board. For the last two weeks I haven't lost any weight, I haven't gone up, but not down either. I kinda got sidetracked on my diet. But now I am ready for a little challenge. i need it. I have a wedding to go to the end of May and I wanna be down to 250 by then, I don't know if I can do it now.. is there a chance I can be ready for another fill???

Wii are ready to work out!
I lost 9 lbs. before the surgery. and as far as restriction goes, I felt more restriction before I had my fill on the 5th of feb. I don't know why, but I think that I need another fill now. I mean I can't eat as much as I used to before I had the surgery, but I can eat little more than 1 cup of food too. I know alot of people i've talked to say that they can only eat 1/2 cup. I don't really know. How are you doin with it?

Grrrr so angry at myself!
i am going thru it right now too. I try to keep myself on a 3 hour schedule.. I eat a very small meal every three hours or so, and if I find that I can't make it the three hours I eat a protein bar. But I gotta say that for about a week now I have had a craving for an ice cream cake.. I know that I can't eat the whole thing, but I really want to. i just keep telling myself that when i get to 35 lbs lost then i will buy one and have a little slice.

January 19th
how many times has everyone gone back to see their surgeons. I have only gone one time and that was for my fill in the second week of feb. are we only supposed to go back when we need a fill? My doctor never really talked to me about it, and at the time I never thought to ask

How many calories a day do you eat?
does anyone have any blank 1200 calorie sheets that they can email me?? Or does anyone know a good website I can go to to download ones

Did you tell others about surgery?
I tell everyone I know.. I am so grateful to be able to have had the lap-band done. And everyone I tell is always happy for me, just knowing how much struggling I have done with my weight threw out the years. I think that telling people is a personal preference, but I feel like I have nothing to hide, and that it is a big step in my life.

i think that I am losing inches right now.. my weight has been a stand still for about the last week and 1/2.. actually i've only lost 5lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks.. but my pants are still getting looser... I thought that it was going to be a lot easier too.. plus since my first fill I am always hungry now.. and it seems like everything goes down to easy...I am with you though on tryin to stay positive... It is takin me a lot right now, not to give up.

Fills after 3 weeks
hi, I had my first fill only like 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. But now that I have like 2 weeks with my fill I am always hungry.. I don't know if it is because I rushed on my fill, or if I just don't have enough restriction. I would wait if I were you

Twenties NSVs
that's awesome drew.. keep up the good work.

Twenties NSVs
yeah the baggy pants are great.. I love them.. My NSV for yesterday was trying to play soccer with my son yesterday and havin my pants fall to my knees while trying to run... we were in our backyard so it wasn't to embarassing... So I went in the house to get out a pair of pants from last year... and they FIT.. still a little tight but i got them on and buttoned and I could walk and sit and didn't feel uncomfortable. So I can say that as of right now I am loving the Lap-Band even more.. I started at a tight size 24 and I can wear a size 18 now.

weight gain after 1st fill
thank you both for the encouragement.. and I am not sure if the scales read the same.. they probably don't... I will try to walk everyday this week and see what happens. I guess the biggest thing is that I am at the 20lbs lost mark, and this is were I usally fall back into my old eating habits, and I am just scared that I am going to do it again. I really want this so bad.. it just sometimes seem like I will never get there. I know that a slow and steady weight loss is the best.

weight gain after 1st fill
I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem....I went for my first fill on Thursday, 2/5, and I weighed in at the doctors at 274, but today I got on the scale and I weigh 280. I don't know what happen, I hardly consumed anything the last couple of days cause I don't feel hungry at all, I have all I can do right now to drink my shakes.:confused: I don't know what is wrong.

Who started with a weight over 300 pounds?
is it common to go up after a fill. cause I got filled thursday and I weighed 274, but today I got on the scale and weighed 280. I don't understand cause I have hardley ate anything.
-
solid foods
I've also chewed some food and spit it out, just the fact that I was able to chew on something. After actually eating some real solids and my doctor sort of yelling at me that I can damage my stomach. But since I got my fill, he said I can start on mushies on Thursday. As far as damage from chewing and spitting, I don't think you can do any.
