  1. Also, check out ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND? System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. for bariatric surgeons in your area. You may be able to find a surgeon close to you that people have already shared their experiences on that board.

  2. Linda, Annak, Avilda, TexasT (Tara), me and KermitOJP (Olivia), and one of my friends named Shayna that I know from a couple of years ago before surgery.

  3. Not at all, he'll be there for training, and then it's our #2 choice on what the military calls a "dream sheet" for assignments, but we aren't holding our breaths. I learned along time ago with the military to not get my hopes up because they love to disappoint us LOL. We also have some bases in New Mexico, and Oklahoma on the dream sheet so we're trying to stay in the southern states as much as possible.

If he comes for training, I'll make a trip out there for a bit and we'll definitely get together.

  4. It went pretty great. We just ate lunch, chatted and shopped a little. I'm sorry we missed each other as well. If John gets his new class dates for his retrain, he'll be at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, so I'm sure I'll be in TX again sooner than later. We'll get together one of these days.

  5. Glad to see you around again Donna. I figured life for you just busy, and you are out living life to the fullest. Talk to you soon.

  6. It's perfectly normal to go through those emotions. The one thing you can look forward to is you will be able to eat your favorite foods again, just in smaller portions. I honestly never feel deprived or like I am dieting now that I'm at goal. Good luck on your surgery, and keep us posted on your progress.

  7. The ASMBS states that the 20-30 grams of protein is the max our body can absorb is a total myth.

    http://www.asmbs.org/Newsite07/resources/bgs_final.pdf

The other articles/research I've read are all in agreement that as long as we are getting the additional amino acids the protein is absorbed, and assimilated in the body. Just thought I would share what I found from the ASMBS.

Most high quality protein supplements have the necessary amino acids added to assist with assimilation.

  8. I actually dropped weight after gb removal just because I had to do bland, full liquids again for a few days because my surgeon also did an endoscopy to check out my sleeve. I weighed 140 the day of gb surgery, I lost 10 pounds over the next 4-5 weeks. I waited way too long to have my gb removed. I had symptoms that I ignored for 2 months, and then had a massive attack. I finally went in when I could no longer eat or drink anything. My gb was 1/3 full of stones, and so inflamed my surgeon made me do 4 days of chicken soup, crackers, and greek yogurt to get the inflammation down so he could perform the surgery with the least amount of risks.

  9. Yeppers, there's a few patients that opt to have their gallbladder removed simultaneously. I had mine out in February, and have had to make some adjustments to my food choices. Essentially, I just had to cut out full fat dressings, and avocados and red pasta sauce or large amounts of ketchup. Those are the only things that bother me severely post gb removal, but everything else has been good to go.

I'll start checking around your area for a good revision surgeon. Give me a couple of days, and I'll get back with you.

  10. I have the same issue with the skin. I had fat on my lower abdomen that I can't kick just yet, but it's shrinking so I'll just wait until after we have a baby to have it repaired. Best wishes on your continued success.

  11. Hey Sheryl, unfortunately, I'm already back in Florida. It was a quick trip for us over our spring break. We'll be back maybe in the summer with more time to spend with everyone. Hope you had a good Easter weekend.

  12. It was great. Mom and me kind of mended things, my best friend and I are trying to work through stuff, it was overall a great trip. Hope you are doing well ! ! !

  13. Just wanted to wish you the very best today, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier, I was out of state visiting family and friends in Texas. Let us know how everything goes ! ! !

  14. Hey Charlotte,

If you're on the West Coast, check out Dr. Cirangle in California, and let me know what state you are in and I can help find a great revision surgeon in your area. My surgeon is a military doctor and you have to live within 100 miles with Tricare (military insurance) for him to be authorized for him to perform your surgery. He's a great surgeon, and I've recommended him to others, but for your situation we'll have to find a good revision surgeon.

    Talk to you soon,

  15. Hey chickee, I decided to not rent a car, and drive my little Ford Ranger here to Texas. Anyways, call or text me later on today so we can talk about Saturday.

  16. it's on my right shoulder blade. I have one right below my collar at the top of my back, and then the infamous tramp stamp on my lower back. I plan on getting another after our next baby that goes down my spine, I just have to figure out what I want this time.

  17. So glad to hear you are doing well. Things will get better every day then every week, then every month.

Keep sipping, and don't be alarmed if you are hungry. Liquids go right through our tummies, plus our nerves have been cut, and we can't feel a full signal. Just stick with your program and stay positive. And, oh how scary on the knicked artery, I'm glad you are doing better.

  18. HOLY SNIKEYS ! ! ! You are so close to goal, many congrats. . .

  19. Girl, I would have paid you for those yummy lemon bites LOL ! ! ! I hope you're doing fabulous. I saw your new pictures and I am so envious of your hiney. I lost all my butt, seriously it's flat as a pancake. I have a little "butt front" going on and hopefully it'll keep shrinking, if I could just transfer my tummy fat to my butt, I'd have better curves ! ! !

Thanks for the sweet compliments on my hair. The husband finally likes it LOL.

  20. Hey there, sure I can help. Go to USER CP, Edit Avatar, and upload your picture from your PC or from a photo hosting site such as Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

    Hope that helps ! ! !

  21. Hey Michelle,

Thank you so very much. How exciting for you to have a date ! ! ! The sleeve is seriously fabulous, and my #1 piece of advice is to follow the dietary guidelines especially immediately post-op, and to mentally prepare yourself for the struggles because there will be struggles. Maybe not physically, but mentally the change in life can be overwhelming. Also, get a good high quality vitamin. I have a chart I can send you that breaks down the most popular vitamins and shows you exactly what you get and don't get from them. That way you can make the best decision for your needs and budget. Vitamins aren't really expensive, even the high quality ones. I order all my vitamins and supplements from one website, and their rates are fabulous. Let me know if I can help you in any way possible. I'm extremely happy for you and your upcoming surgery. Stay in touch, and never hesitate to ask any questions.

  22. I'm not good with anatomy, but with your concerns on how that surgeon staples off the tummy, ask if he fully disects the fundus. That's the stretchy part and that is where the ghrelin is mostly made from what I've read.

If he fully disects the fundus, from your description, and some of the anatomy pics I looked up today, I think you'll be okay. But, I understand your concerns.

  23. YAY YAY best wishes chickee ! ! !You're going to great, stay positive, and post when you can. Take care of yourself, rest, walk, sip and repeat ! ! !

  24. On the weightlifting, my husband uses a protein drink that is low in carbs (like 3-4grams) and 24 grams of protein per scoop after he lifts. It's the only protein I could tolerate. Anyways, enough about my ramblings. I know that if you drink the protein supplements mixed with skim milk, or water, it would be no different than drinking water. At least that's the consistency of the one protein we use. I lift but more for toning, not mass building.

Best wishes, and feel free to post away. I know I don't have the same parts, but if you need anything don't hesitate to contact me. Also, there are some really great male members on obesityhelp.com that are fabulous sources for information. If you have an ID over there, or if you would like I can send you links to their profiles so you can talk to them. George is awesome over there and is about 7 months post-op.

  25. If you would like to, you can reach out to the other guy members here. Longhorn, bigdd, Garyb, hershey, and loser are pretty active in some of the threads. Hershey chats in the chatroom with us late at night. Anyways, those are some of the greatest guys I've met here. Also, Pondurosa to Smallville has a blog in the blog section, he just had the sleeve and is doing really great.
