You're not alone. I'm supposed to have 4 meals a day consisting of at least 15-20grams of Protein, and then green veggies, if any room, carbs last. Obviously, I don't do this anymore. But, I'm in a weird place with my weight loss. I'm not supposed to be losing anymore, but I don't want to gain either. So, I'm eating a more balanced diet. I occasionally have a "treat' like maybe 2-3 times a week. I figure 1 fun size snickers isn't going to completely sabotage my efforts.

Some of the skin will bounce back, but plastics is the best resolution. I WILL be having a TT and breast augmentation after our baby making. I don't care about the excess skin on my inner thighs. My surgeon said to not even consider plastics until 12-18 months post-op. He swears that the fat will redistribute and the skin will bounce back to some degree. I'm hoping to get pregnant this year, have a c-section, then have TT and BA done by the time I'm 35. The more you work out it'll help, but we'll all probably have some excess skin here and there.

Huge congratulations DeeDee ! ! ! I'm super proud of you, and all of your accomplishments.

I took it temporarily, and found that it made me extremely sleepy. The side effect of Tardive Dyskinesia is the one that's all over the TV and radio right now from the ambulance chaser attorneys. I'm not sure how much of a concern it is if you're only on it temporarily. I was switched off Reglan and Phenegran because they both made me sleep so much. My surgeon switched me to Zofran, and it was fabulous for nausea and no sleepiness.

Gallbladder issues and surgery
Tiffykins replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know 4 abdominal lap surgeries in 16 months is a bit excessive, huh? LOL I'm doing much better today. I have 2 monthly luncheons with other military wives, and today we went out for Thai food. I kept it pretty basic, and it was the first time since surgery that I've really eaten. It hit me hard. I've been dealing with constipation due to the pain meds, but the Thai food cleared all that up for me today. I'm supposed to bowl tomorrow, but since I still can't drive, I'm thinking I better sit out for the day. I really hate that I can't do anything work-out wise for 6 weeks. It really upsets me. Since my surgeon did some exploring around in my abdomen and took down scar tissue and adhesions, he's got me restricted for 6 weeks. No ab/core workouts, no lifting, it's depressing. So, I'm going pretty stir crazy around the house. I'm super happy to have my GB gone. Dr. R said everything internally looks really good, he scoped me too, no ulcers, no issues with the staple lines, he said everything looked really great. -
DeeDee, I think we'll all have these days. I know since my GB surgery, I've had 1 fun size snickers bar, EVERY DAY. Seriously, I never did that before, but I've been cooped up in the house, the kiddo and husband are driving me up a wall, and I can't really seem to eat anything else. I've thrown out all the rules the last few days, eaten chips, some chicken here and there, but for the most part, I've been horrible. I gained 6 pounds of water weight because they pumped me full of fluids for the surgery, and I can't seem to lose them. Well, I've dropped 1, but I'm still mad about it. Hopefully, tomorrow is a better day for both of us. I cancelled my Y membership today because I can do zero lifting for 6 weeks. I can do my regular work outs here at the house. Don't beat yourself up. We have this tool to get us back on track, and know you'll get there. Don't give up on yourself.

Concerned - should I be?
Tiffykins replied to MINI-Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everything is still healing on the inside. When we start feeling better, we do a little more. I know once I started feeling better, I started moving more, and probably doing a little more than I should have been doing. I did it just recently with my GB surgery. I wasn't supposed to drive for a week. Well, John was sick yesterday, I didn't have any OTC stuff for him, so I made the quick trip to Wal-Mart. Least to say, I paid for it for the rest of the day. I would say, rest up, take it easy. Even though it's a lap procedure, they still cut through several layers of fat and muscle to get to our internal parts. It could be that you pulled something, or twisted weird. If it doesn't subside, contact your surgeon. -
What Do the Protein Bullets Taste Like?
Tiffykins replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used them with the band, and I could tolerate the Orange and Fruit punch flavor of the New Whey Protein bullets found at GNC. I would actually mush up a SF orange popsicle and mix the protein shot in with it. It made them tolerable. After my sleeve, I could tolerate them at all. I still have a couple in my fruit drawer. The blue raspberry new whey 42gr shot mixed fairly well with grape G2 gatorade. 2 nuts approved them with the statement that the collagen protein is not the best source, but some protein is better than none. I couldn't handle the "thickness" of the shots. They had to be diluted with either a popsicle or G2. -
I occasionally have one of the South Beach Peanut Butter Protein Cereal bars. They have 10grams of protein, and 15 grams of carbs. I consider them a "treat" because of the carb count. The Atkins advantage bars are a nice change as well. They are pretty carby also, but they have 18grams of protein, 22grams of carbs, the box says only 2grams of net carbs, but I consider carbs, carbs. They're sweet, and kind of salty so I get the best of both worlds. A box of 5 bars last me 3 months because I seriously rarely eat them. In my opinion, they are better than chowing down on a Snicker's or Butterfinger bar.

I started eating beef jerky and turkey jerky once I was cleared for regular food. It took forever to chew it, but it's a good source of Protein. The little steak nuggets were not as tough, and were pretty moist as well.

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Tiffykins replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Praise Jesus Lan that you are getting some relief, and are on track. I've been praying for you, and that God would bless you with some grace. I'm ecstatic to read all of this news, and don't give up. -
Beef Jerky or nuggets they are high in sodium so I limit my intake, but I love beef jerky. Cracker Barrel 2% milk Sharp Cheddar chunks Pork Rinds the hot-n-spicy are my faves.

Good deal, I know some people froze the jello laced with Isopure in ice trays to make them more tolerable. I'm glad you're finding things that work for you.
-
That sucks about no popsicles, I don't think I could of made it through the clears without them. . . I hated Jello pre-op, but it gave me something with some degree of consistency during the clears I was on for 17 days.
-
Yeppers it's considered a clear Fluid. It's killing 2 birds with 1 stone if you can tolerate the taste because you get in your fluids plus Protein.

Excellent accomplishments Lucy ! ! !

I had a friend send me this "before" picture, and thought I would share with everyone. This is from sometime in the spring of 2007. I don't recognize myself in this picture, and am just kind of in shock with this comparison. For all those considering this surgery, here's proof it works. For those struggling, please don't give up. Before: I'm the short one on the left. Today, December 10, 2009 :

Call your surgeon. I didn't experience this, but it doesn't sound normal. -

Thought I'd open up the chat window tonight. If you come in, and I don't reply, it simply means I'm either letting the dog out, on the porch smoking a cig, or in the potty. So, don't leave, I'll be back in a few minutes if I don't respond immediately.

Did your surgeon give you any direction on the pre-op diet at all? I had to do a low carb/high Protein 1 week pre-op for the band to sleeve revision. I had zero co-morbidities, but my BMI was 47. I had to do the same pre-op diet for my band surgery. If you need to do low carb/high protein, check out the Atkins diet for some suggestions. I ate a lot of chicken, cheese, and salads for the pre-op diet, and steered clear of all white carbs. No flour, bread, Pasta, or rice during that time period.
