    Really frustrated with surgeon

I would call your PCM and get them to give you a script for either Phenegran or Zofran. If my surgeon was being an a$$hat, I would go to my PCM to get some relief until I could get to a surgeon to see how my sleeve was doing. When are you getting nauseated? I sucked on peppermints because they are naturally soothing on the tummy. If you can tolerate ginger, it can also calm your stomach. Are you on a true acid reducer? Have you been able to get in enough fluids? If not get some Pedialyte, gatorade, or Powerade to get your electrolytes up. Dehydration can cause nausea. What food stage are you at? I'll try to help as much as I can. I can read it in your posts how frustrated you are. That nurse/receptionist sounds like a totally tool, and I had the same issues with my band surgeon and his staff. The worse part was his office manager/head nurse was also his wife. When I left his practice, I told him "I guess the reason you don't care nor were never notified about my complaints and concerns, is that you are obviously more concerned with keeping the one woman who is willing to get her knees and slob your knob for you at the end of the day happy, instead of the quality of life for your patients post-op." I was passed the point of being polite and professional. I can't even type out what I told his wife when I went to pick up my medical records.

    Really frustrated with surgeon

What an a$$hat. I'm sorry you are having to deal with them. I wouldn't even speak to her again. I would call and speak directly to a patient advocate, and/or the office manager immediately. If this office is part of a center of excellence, you know when patients leave they lose funding. If your surgeon doesn't care, find a new one.

    I?m here in Mexicali!!!

I'm sooooooooooooo excited for you, and will be anxiously waiting for an update. Best wishes, and we're all praying for ya ! ! !
  6. Soooooooooo glad to hear you are home, and surgery went well. Rest, sip, and repeat. Keep us posted and if you need anything let us know ! ! !
  7. Thank you all so very much. Today was probably one of the best days I've had in a really long time. Mentally, I feel so much better, not even going to try to lie that the physical stuff that is a huge pay-off, but the mental aspects of this post-op life is the biggest pay-off. I love each and every one y'all. I feel like I have a second family with y'all. I appreciate all your kind words, and thank you from the depths of my heart for all of your continued support and encouragement.
  8. The biggest thing you will need to do is to realize that you will have a longer healing time with the sleeve than you did with the band. You'll have immediate restriction, but that doesn't mean you can still eat a bunch of crap foods. It's protein first, then veggies, and then if you have carbs during the losing stage. Limit carb grams to 30 grams of carbs per day during the losing stage &keep protein at 60 grams or above every day. Know that your tastebuds might change so don't stock up on a bunch of protein stuff thinking you'll like it post-op. You might not be able to tolerate them, so wait until after surgery to buy in bulk. Go ahead and get some samples for you to try. You can find a good thread in the Food/Protein powder supplement forum on here.

You'll also enjoy that you don't have to deal with fills anymore. It took me about 2.5-3 months to be able to eat more than 2-3 ounces of food per meal. But, the results are fabulous, and life with the sleeve is effortless.

  9. See if these directions help with getting your ticker saved. Make sure you set it up with a PIN number so you can easily update your stats.

Once the ticker is the made, make sure you are copying the bbCode. Paste that code to your signature. Hit PREVIEW signature to see if it's showing up, then hit save it shows up in there.

If that doesn't work, follow the directions on this link:

    http://verticalsleevetalk.com/vertical-sleeve-talk-forum-assistance-suggestions/267-vst-tickerfactory-ticker-tutorial-pictures.html

And if all else fails, send a message to VegasAngel, she's moderator, and will let someone know that handles the technical issues on the forum.

    Coffee... How Naughty, Really?

Nexium first, wait 30 minutes, then coffee. It doesn't count as part of your 64ounces of fluids, because it's caffeinated and is a natural diuretic. So amp up the Water intake, to make sure you don't tinkle everything away. The Nexium will be absorbed into your bloodstream and still give you the benefit of a PPI. It doesn't really coat your tummy so Nexium wait 30 minutes, and then enjoy your coffee. I have coffee occasionally, with GASP, full fat french vanilla or caramel machiatto creamer, and 2 Splenda. I rarely have more than 10-12 ounces, but it definitely keeps things moving. If I ever feel like I need to get things moving, 8 ounces of coffee is almost as good as Miralax.

    I'm losing my hair!!!!!

There is nothing you can do to get the loss to stop, but you can help with regrowth. I lost half of my hair. Luckily, I had super thick, coarse hair so if you didn't know me before, you couldn't tell. I used Folicure extra care shampoo (found at Sally's beauty supply, or on Amazon.com), and Nexxus Dualiste anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner(found mine at Wal-Mart). I only washed my hair every other day. I only did minimal blow-drying (maybe once a week if I was going out), rarely flat ironed or even curled my hair. I didn't color or highlight my hair during that time. Some people take Biotin, or another type of hair/nail/skin Vitamin. I never took Bioton on a regular basis. I lost for a solid 2 months, but my new growth started coming in around the first 6 of me using the Folicure shampoo. I now look like a Chia pet. I have 4-5 inches of new growth sticking straight up all over my head. I know a couple of women who cut their hair and added layers to help hide the loss. I did it just a few weeks ago just to get rid of the dead ends, and add some volume.

    Really frustrated with surgeon

I would call and write a letter, send it certified mail with signature required to the office manager, and CC the doctor. Explain to them very professional how discourteous that staff was to you, the long wait time with zero notification or warning that you may have to wait. I'm a great, angry, yet professional letter writer, so if you want help, I'll be more than happy to help you. They need to know that you are dissatisfied, that you feel you left without anyone caring about your aftercare, or if you were having any problems.

    Chat issues

I tried several times off and on today to get into the chat room. It simply goes to the chat room and the box blinks "CONNECTING" constantly. Just thought I'd let someone know.
  18. I just thought I would share a little tidbit that I've learned over the last week. It's a long ramble just so you're forewarned. Had my gb removed on the 4th, Caysen (the kiddo) came home sneezing and hacking on Friday the 5th. By Sunday, John started hacking and break out in a fever of 101.6. By Tuesday, the 9th, I had a tickle in my throat, and felt a little sluggish. By Tuesday night, I was hacking up a lung with absolutely zero production, dry, heaving cough, all while trying to protect my incisions from surgery. Wednesday, I lost my voice, spiked a 102 fever, and just felt miserable. Eating became a chore, and with every meal I became extremely nauseated. I couldn't eat meat at all therefore my Protein level dropped, my energy was all gone. I was taking Nyquil liqui caps, and then bumped up to a prescription cough syrup with codeine. I finally figured out yesterday that the sinus drainage, and mucus/phlegm are filling up my stomach, and it's causing major GI issues. I am still coughing, and it's finally a productive cough. But, I lost 3 more pounds due to having to eat in such small amounts and really nothing of substance. Please take care of yourselves even post-op. I took precautionary measures when Caysen came home on Friday. Lysol'd and Ousted the house, and all common surfaces were wiped down with Clorox wipes. I always carry hand sanitizer, and use the sani-wipes at grocery stores for the carts. I'm not obsessive about it, but I do take precautions and try to keep the funk down to a minimum. This has been the worst week I've had in a long time. I even vomitted up my dinner 2 nights ago, and that made me feel even more miserable. I'm able to eat today, and feel better, but still not 100%. Hopefully, the cough will start subsiding this week.
  19. You're probably snoozing, but I've been thinking of you all today. I haven't been home much today, but you're been in my heart and on my mind.
  20. Yes, in theory she has performed 100's of VSG's as well. But, find out the size of boughie she uses, ask about the stand-alone VSG patients results. Experience is half the equation in finding a good surgeon, the other half is technique. Meaning, the surgeon can do 100's of VSGs but if they make huge sleeves, don't remove all the fundus, or haven't perfected that technique, some patients may not have optimal results. If she gives her DS patients a 60fr boughie, and she does the same for her VSG stand-alone patients, then NO I would not have her perform my VSG. If she adjusts boughie size based on patient's needs, and surgery choice, and feels confident in her technique making a tight little sleeve for a restrictive only procedure then yes, I would consider it. Just my 2cents.

    Drinking and eating

So your body and digest the small amount of food, and absorb nutrients properly also. I do only have to wait 30 minutes to drink if I'm following the rules. I know early out I tempted fate, and let me just say, taking that little sip of anything early out hurt like hades. It caused a lot of cramping, and discomfort.

    Drinking and eating

I know it's driving me crazy. I'm truly hoping that body gets comfy sometime soon. I'm really not trying to lose weight, and I'll hold steady for a 2-3 weeks and wake up to a mysterious 3-4 pound loss. It's getting frustrating, and I know it's all about finding the right balance. Having the gb out kind through me for another loop, and couple that with the chest cold and mucus issue, just kind of set me up for a loss. I'm hoping to hold steady right where I'm at currently. I never imagined saying "umm can I please stop losing weight? LIKE now."

    Pork rinds?

I love Pork Rinds, always have enjoyed and they are definitely a great way to satisfy that crunch. I eat the hot-n-spicy ones fairly regularly.

    quest protein bars?

PPL= People They look great, if you order some or try them out, make sure you post a review. I'd be interested in how big they are, and if they are easily digestable. Some Protein bars just kind of sit in my sleeve like a rock. Others seem to go down great, and don't linger for too long.

    Drinking and eating

I had this one rule learned and downpat with my band surgery, but I did obsess about it early on with the sleeve because the Prilosec was causing horrendous dry mouth. Once, my body adjusted to that side effect, I really didn't obsess as much about drinking Water and watching the clock waiting for that 30 minute reprieve to have a drink.
