The Band is not working for my daughter???

But how does SHE feel about things? Maybe she's not as upset about it as you are? That's the dangerous thing about trying to compare yourself against someone else. We're all different and will travel our journey at different paces. If she's upset about it then encourage her to post on LBT too, there's lots of helpful posts that may give her some great ideas. If she's not upset then tell her congrats on losing 22 pounds and let her travel her journey in her own way. Good luck to you both!

Just Got Home From Hosp, have A Question

I agree with above...you and your doc should discuss this. But, in MY experience, my doc was OK with me advancing to mushies on week 2 then slowly introducing solids by week 3. I was basically eating normally in 2 weeks. But, one word of caution...dry/sticky foods like Peanut Butter sometimes give me a rough time. I like the idea above about mixing some peanut butter into a Protein shake instead of just eating a spoonful of it. You'll want to experiment slowly because at this early stage in the game you don't want to get something stuck. Good luck!

    Road to "TWOterville"

No, I don't think I've busted loose from my mini-plateau yet. I just got TOM (two weeks early) so I think hormones may have something to do with it...we'll find out soon! I know, I know, I KNOW about office junk food. There is a whole stinkin' table sitting in the middle of my office that at this moment has two packages of cookies, wheat thins and some 2 day old donuts on it! You're right...we really can't do much about it either. But, I enjoy South Beach bars--140 cal, 10 protein and they are DELICIOUS. That's what I look forward to as my "snack break". They actually keep me satisfied for a few hours to boot! My doctor said they are pretty well balanced so they are a safe option for me. Have you ever tried them? They are really good tasting, you feel like you're splurging without the guilt!

    PreOp chaos

We'll you're either having a severe case of the "last meals" or you may not be ready for a committment to the new lifestyle change. It's probably the first. I think most of us went through a the "last meal" phase. About a week before surgery my best friend and I went out for one last hurrah...Outback. I had cheese fries, bloomin' onion, breaded mushrooms plus dinner and several drinks then afterward we waddled to the ice cream parlor and had a cone. It was quite the sight! But, I was blowing off steam and nothing more. After surgery I stuck to the plan and have begun to be happy about healthy eating. And now that I have my band I know for myself that life hasn't really changed all that much and so it wasn't really necessary to have put myself through that stress. If you really, really want this then you'll be fine. If you aren't excited about your surgery then perhaps you could take some time to make sure you feel comfortable with everything because being successful is going to require a lot of dedication to yourself. Only you know if you're just nervous with a bad case of the "last meals" or if you deep down don't want to do this. I hope your decision comes easy for you and let us know how you're feeling. Good luck! I think you'll be fine!

    What about a clothes swap???

I think this is a cool idea too! I would be willing to help out if needed too. It's hard to justify spending money on clothes that you are hopefully only going to fit for a month or two!!
  12. This is INCREDIBLE! I am so happy for you! What a neat post, thanks for sharing!

6 MOs out - Anyone have this happen?

I'm almost 6 months out and I am just recently feeling my port inside me. I don't feel anything like you're describing though. I think I'm feeling mine because I have lost enough weight to make it more pronounced. Do you think this your situation too? Either way, I think you should mention it to your Doc as well. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

    Fill during surgery

I have a VG and got 4cc's during surgery. I think it has to do with how the band fits your stomach and that's how they determine who needs a fill and how much to give. It's funny how everyone's bellys are so many different sizes inside!

    Drinking too fast?

I don't know if it's bad or not, but I can and do chug-a-lug. I've always drank my water this way so maybe it's easier for me to do post-band than for others. I started out slow though to test the waters (no pun intended) first!

    1 Day Challenge

I am terrible about getting in my water at work too! It's so hard! I drink the majority of my water requirements at night. That's probably not a good thing but at least I'm drinking as much as I can. UGH...Work!
  17. The first month was hell for me. It was a really emotional time and I fought a lot of those "I'm already screwing up" demons. Once life settles down a little and you get more used to your new belly things will get easier! You just gotta find your groove!

All right, great! Now, we got a plan going. We're going to hit those targets and start the new year off great! My September 25th goal will be 280. A bit steep but I'm gonna try! Molly-that is wonderful. Yes, you are soooo close now!

    Does anyone have regrets?

The only regret I have is not taking a "before" picture along with my measurements. I really wish I would've done this. And yeah, I echo the others, I regret not doing it sooner!
  21. You sound so down on yourself and you shouldn't. You had a bad day and yes, it sucks. But, we all have to get back on the horse and keep doing what we're doing. I have finally learned that each day is a brand new chance to do things better. And if you "mess up" at one meal, don't discount the entire day as a failure...just do better at your next meal. You are doing this for YOU because you're worth it. Get back up and try again. The liquids stage SUCKS and it really tests you. We all suffered through it and we can tell you that there is light at the end of the tunnel so hang in there and let us know how you're doing! Tomorrow is a new day!

need help not with the band

I'm really sorry you are having problems right now. Unfortunately, I don't know what I could say to help. I think most people probably feel the same and that's why no one has responded. I hope things work out for you and your sister, I really do.

You're awesome, you go get it girl! I would be so happy for you! You can do it! I'm chicken...I'm sticking with 250. But, 235 would be incredible. Anyone else want to join in with their Christmas goal? We can start a list and track it each month? Let's "weigh in" each 25th. Since August 25th has passed we'll just use our current weight. If you want to join just copy the list and add your info in. (Julie, I'm using your signature weight, you can change it if it's not current.) Gotta change my behavior...HELP!

This is so funny! I hold the bone for my dog too!! He will actually whine at my feet with the bone in his mouth until I pick it up and hold it! I love spoiling my dog! (You're puppy will get hooked and you'll be stuck holding the bone forever too!)
