Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I was on clear liquids for 3 weeks after surgery. Sugar free popsicles, broth, tea. When you are on this diet you can continue to drink all day. Once I started soft foods and regular food, my doctor says not drinking 45 minutes before you eat and 45 minutes after you eat. This is easy, and I have never been sick, thank goodness!

    New here-questions!!

Hi everyone--new to this thread. Had my lap band surgery on 11/12/08. To this point lost over 50 lbs in 2 months. Very happy with that. On my second visit last month, I asked for a fill because when I would eat I felt I could eat more than the 1 1/2 cups. I do not want to fall back into my "bad" eating habits. Since I had the fill I feel no different. When I drink my liquids all day I am comfortably full not hungry at all. I could eat much more. What do you mean by restriction? When I eat I never feel that I could not swallow another bite--is that restriction?? I have my third appointment next week, I am going to ask for another fill--I want to fill full when I eat/ any advice?? I do not even know the size of my band or amount of fill--I will ask that next week. Look forward to hearing from someone--very afaird of not feeling completely full!! thanks
  4. Enjoy hearing all the stories!! I am from Pittsburgh and had my surgery at one of leading hospitals in the Country--Allegheny General with top notch surgeons. The nurses are another story!! My surgery was from 10 am until 11:30 am. I have had trouble with being put to sleep for surgeries in the past so I was high risk for the doctors--when all the precautions were met, surgery began and I was fast asleep. After surgery when they wakened me, I had a horrible tight pain in my chest. Everyone was paniced and thought I was having a heart attack, which I knew I wasn't--just weeks before had the stress tests, blood pressure good etc. But many doctors running around tending to me and very concerned! Needless to say they kept me in intensive care that whole day hooked up to a heart monitor. My poor husband did not get to see me until 5:00 pm and only for 2 minutes. I tried telling everyone that I knew it was my lungs not my heart. Well late that night at 10:00 pm they finally put me in my room on the cardiac floor hooked up to heart monitors! All other lap band patients were on the floor below! The next day it was decided that my heart was fine and they could not figure out what happened to me??? Heart monitors were removed to find out I was terribly dehydrated!! Well the new intern that morning thought I did not need the IV so had it removed! Could not drink the crystal light sweet sweet fruit punch they give you--yuk! Long story short I stayed 4 days 3 nights in the hospital for something that should have been a one night stay!! The surgery was very successful it's just these little things that got in the way. This surgery is the best thing I could have done!!

    Hello from Steeler ,Country!

No reply--trying to figure out how to post this thread
  6. Hi-I am new to this thread and I am very anxious to share my lap band surgery which I had Nov.12th 2008. I have sooo many questions don't know where to begin! My first appointment with my doctor was 3 weeks after surgery--I lost then 28 pounds. That was good I then started soft foods, second appointment was 7 weeks after surgery and I lost another 12 lbs. Total of 40 lbs in 7 weeks. Pretty happy about that. At this second appoinment I had a fill because I felt that I should fill fuller. I am fine when drinking my liquids all day, feeling comfortably full, but when I eat that 1 1/2 cups I do want more--I don't feel full to the point of hard to swallow. I am so afaird I will slip back into my old "bad" eating habits. Should I not feel very full?? If someone could please help me realize how I should be feeling. I have my third appointment next week and I think I want another fill--what should I ask or be looking for. Thanks!!! I am 51 years old and start weight was 325!! Look forward to hearing from you!!

    Question about amount of food

Hi-congrats on your surgery. Since you just had the surgery Jan 16 not even two weeks yet--are you not suppose to be on just clear liquids for 3 weeks then after first appointment gradually start soft foods? I had lap band surgery Nov. 12th 2008 and this is how my surgeon did it. That may be why you are having so much discomfort--check with your doctor. Good luck to you!

    I'm here to help...

Hi! I am new to this board. I had lap band surgery on November 12th 2008. On my first visit about 3 weeks after surgery I lost 28 lbs. Second visit about 7 weeks after surgery another 12 llbs.. I had my first fill at the second visit, but I did not feel any different. I am scheduled next week my third visit since surgery and I want to feel fuller. When I drink my beverages all day I feel very comfortable, but its when I go to eat a meal I could eat more than the 1 1/2 cup they want. I don't want to be tempted, I want to be full to the point that I could not swallow another bite. Is this unrealistic on my part. Should I feel this way? I suppose I should get another fill. What do you suggest. Thank you so much!!
