    lapband and flying

I flew about 4 weeks after my surgery and didn't have any problems on the airplane. I did however forget to eat slowly and chew well and had a PB experience in the airport surrounded by my students...

    salads

I had surgery the end of May and I eat salad too. I agree with eating darker greens though. I love adding spinach to my salads. My favorite is a spinach mix with strawberries, apple pieces, a couple nuts, and some raspberry vinigrette.

    lapband cookbook?

I have a friend who is a dietician and she gave me two cookbooks right after my surgery. They aren't strictly for lap band patients, but for all weight loss surgery patients. They are nice though because one has serving suggestions for each type of of surgery patient and both have nutrition facts for each recipe. The two books she got me are: 1. Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray 2. recipes for Life After Weight-Loss Surgery by Margaret M. Furtado and Lynette Schultz

    Why I love my band. . .

That is awesome! In recent years I have always needed a seatbelt extender. I just flew to California and on 3 of the 4 flights I fit great...even had some seat belt to spare But the last flight was on an older plane and I think the belts were smaller!!

    Just wanted to say..

This site is great! I will admit that I am a bit of a "stalker" as I do a lot of reading and not a lot of posting. But, it is nice to have a place to go to see if the things I am feeling and experiencing are similar to other people. I love the May group because people are in the same place as me

Anyone have restriction without a fill?

I was hoping I would find a question like this. i am one week post op and find it hard to eat more than 4-6 oz of liquids products(pudding, Protein shake, yogurt, etc) before feeling pressure. I don't have any problems with Clear Liquids (water, juice, etc) The surgeon told my mom that I was "restricted" but I wasn't expecting it so soon. Will I feel better as I heal? I'm worried about having trouble when I can start eating semi-solid food. Danielle, when it hurts in your chest/stomache...where is the pain? I sometimes feel pressure and I'm wondering if it is in the same place. Thanks!
  12. I just had surgery on 5/28 and have also noticed that I need naps when I never did before. It is getting better, but still need to lie down after doing too much.

    Starting Up

No one has posted on here in a while, but I live in Bismarck and am being banded on 5/28/09. I would love to find some other bandsters for support and encouragement. Do you folks still meet up?

    mustaches

I have no problem with waxing, but sometimes in between appointments I use Nair sensative skin. It works pretty well and is easy to use.

Let's get this journey started !!

John337 - It only took about 3 weeks. I went in for my meeting with the dietician, program coordinator, psych consult, and surgical consult all in the same day.

Let's get this journey started !!

I just got a date last week and am glad to finally know that my new journey starts on May 28. I completed all of my required appointments in Feb, the clinic sent in all my paper work to the insurance company, and I was approved last week.

    New

I am in a similar spot! My consultation appointment is on Monday. I have already gone to the information session, and received a bunch of paperwork to fill out and bring with me. I am excited and nervous all at the same time!! Best of luck to you on this journey.

    Any North Dakotans out there?

HI! Nice to see some other North Dakotans around. I am originally from GF and still do some of my medical care there, but now I live in Bismarck and am planning to do the band at St A's early this summer. I am going in for my consults in about 3 weeks, so hopefully all goes well and I am approved with flying colors. :cursing:
