Hi - diet Coke ( my salvation) is really bad as it is a "disphoriant." It lifts you up for the moment and then pulls you back down to lower where you were before drinking it. Odd, isn't it? All these chemicals in our bods. So I take Xanax to combat it (I think). Hope you are on a good journey. Amazing how this is such a learning experience!

Hi, Cloe, Don't have a surgery date yet - just the pre op class. I think the reality is starting to settled in, and I have been drowning from all the info I have been saving from the internet and the book stores. Thanks for your comment. Hope you continue to do well!

I haven't even had surgery yet (band), and am eating like no tomorrow - especially diet coke which wires me and increases my appetite. Any posts would help. Thanks - Leanie

  6. Hi. I am waiting to be banded and have devoured the internet for months gathering everything out there for my hard drive. You will do great. I understand from people who were addicted to coke (diet and regular) along with tons of Mexican Food or whatever is your cave place, that goes away. You just will not want the things you used to love. You will know that it is not right for you. Because you will be on liquids and not really hungry, your body will have time to heal and adjust to the new life. Just keep the faith. Don't be afraid. Journal if needed. You have begun a new you.

    Hello Missouri

You need to have at least 2 co-morbities if your BMI is under 40. You probably have more than two. You should be approved. It may take time. Keep the faith and make sure all your necessary paper work is submitted and no loop holes needing to be filled in. It takes time for you to fill out all the paper work. I went back into my IRS papers to remember what went on and when. It helped me remember when I saw so and so and what for. Not easy to do, but gives you the added chance before you send papers off to your doctor. A good Doctor and staff will do the work, and you just need to follow up with UHC to make sure the application is on board, and know when it has been approved and a letter has been sent back to your doctor showing insurance approval. If not approved, what more do thay need? Then it is just a hop, skip and a jump through some tests, a consultation, and you have a date!

    Hello Missouri

Hi everyone in Missouri! I am in St. Louis and hoping to get banded before the end of the year. I have just been approved with my insurance, and my doctor is a busy bee, so I have to be patient. I would love to be in contact with other pre or post-bansters.
  9. I had diarrhea about 4-5 days ago, and could not understand why. This morning I realize I had eaten spinach from the bag. Don't buy ANY greens in bags anymore! We lived in Spain and used to run a clorox/water mixture over all produce before eating it or refrigerating it. It worked and did not taste bad at all. Two days ago I bought some store deli mustard potato salad (I have not had the surgery yet), and crunched on what turned out to be (I hope) a black olive pit. Good grief! I am 99% sure it was not a bug as it was very stiff. Anyone want a ride to the grocery store?
