I see him on the 13th at 10 a.m. I went back to work today, but I sit at a desk all day. It hasn't been that bad, but this chair is horrible. I get up and walk around about every hour....I thought I would just tough it out half a day, but I only have 30 more minutes to go for a full day.

We were at New Hope on the same day, probably at the same time! If you have a Walgreen's nearby, the Gas-X strips help and they have an adult liquid Tylenol Rapid Release syrup that has been a life saver. I am also not very hungry but my stomach rumbles all day long, driving me crazy! How far are you from Dr. Malley's office?

I did not blend the Egg Drop soup, but did strain out the big pieces of egg white floating in it. Malto Meal is an instant wheat based Cereal...it is in the same isle as instant oatmeal in the grocery store. There is Cream of Wheat and Malto Meal, both with different flavors.

I really enjoyed some Egg Drop soup from the Chinese take out and really runny chocolate Malto Meal...tasted like heaven!

Happy Birthday! Instead of chocolate cake, how about some chocolate milk? I had some Egg Drop soup last night and tolerated it very well and am even feeling less sore this morning....I am definetly not as whiney today!

I am trying to stay away from the pain killers too....I only take the Loritab before going to bed to make it through the night. I found an adult version of liquid Tylenol at the pharmacy that is a rapid release formula...it seems to be doing well through the day as long as I don't try to move around a lot.

I did take off work until next Monday, but I am a computer programmer and sit at a desk all day. I am still pretty sore and last night I rolled over and felt my stomach muscles pull and shrieked because it hurt so bad! My doctor had me on 3 days of clear liquids (broth, tea, coffee, apple juice, popsicles, and jello), then 7 days of liquids until I see him on the 13th. I just started the liquids today and just had some really runny cream of wheat nad tolerated it pretty well. I am too weak to clean house or even leave the house, so I am going stir crazy. I blow glass as a hobby and can't even do that....I am so bored!

I was banded on February 3 by Dr. Malley in Kansas City, MO. How are you feeling?

    Banded today!

Day 3 check in! I was only up once during the night last night, but did take more pain meds yesterday than I did that first night, so slept pretty good. My incision sites are pretty sore today and my stomach is making funny noises. I have the most horrible gas, but it hurts to push it out...probably too much info...:bananalama: I have been up for 4 hours and have not had to take any Tylenol or pain meds so far, just taking it easy in the recliner. I am finding that I have to force myself to drink and eat though and not even hungry. I have a tiny Synthroid pill that I have to take daily, and I think I am going to move it to before I go to bed....I have had an uncomfortable feeling of pressure after taking it the past 2 mornings. I am going to try to walk for a few minutes at a slow pace on the treadmill today and I get to take a shower and remove my bandaids (just leave the steri-strips on), wish me luck!

    Banded today!

I am back to update today. The night was a little rough...up every 2 hours to the bathroom and my shoulder started aching worse when I laid flat in the bed. My fur-baby Toby did not help matters when he started walking across me for some attention either. Hubby had to help me in and out of the bed, it's pretty tall and the flexing of my stomach muscles to sit up was a bit much. I took another dose of the pain meds about 3 am and am up and around this morning. All in all, I am a little sorer today than I was yesterday, but it was expected.
  13. I just wanted to thank everyone here who takes the time to post, you have helped ease the apprehension I suffered this morning. I went in at 9:45 a.m., 45 minutes earlier than scheduled, but they found a hiated hernia (sp?) and had to repair it. I was leaving to go home by 4:15 p.m. and even refused the pain meds (Loritab) and just took some liquid Tylenol when I got home. I have had bad experiences with the anethesia and the doctor spent a lot of time with me before hand and I came up just fine for the first time ever! I am sore and only a little pain in my shoulder. I had my lip balm (thank you for the recommendation!), but it was rough with no liquids that long. I thought I hated apple juice, but tonight it is the nectar of the Gods! I wanted to post this to for people who have not been banded and may be as nervous/terrifed as I was. I did great, so will you!

    What do you all do?

By day, full-time dedicated computer programmer for Yankee Candle and Hickory Farms. By night, part-time glass flameworker.
  15. My name is Jana and I want to thank you for the opportunity to participate on such an amazing site. I have had most of my questions answered here, as well as a lot of my nerves settled. I am being banded by Dr. Malley on 02/03/09 and it has been such a fast turn-around since I started...my head is still spinning. Again, thank you for your posts and the hard work that goes into such an educational forum and I look forward to becoming a productive member.
