Severe acid reflux
I had the same problem. Was sleeping sitting up and still was choking on stomach acid. Went to have band checked and found out that i had a huge bulge the size of a mandarin orange. Was completely unfilled and a month later (today) I went back to have it checked and thank god it had gone back to normal. Was scared to death that I would gain weight but with careful watching of what I ate and having only soup for dinner i actually lost 4 lbs which I hadn't done since Dec. WooHoo!! If you continue to have a problem get a barium check and follow their directions carefully. Tip: sleeping on your left side helps too. Good luck and hang in there as it will work out.

Stuck pill or slip?
Oh yeah on the stuck pill issue been there done that. Had a real problem sleeping due to major gastic backwash recently had to get band checked via barium xray...they said, have you taken med lately? Of course I said yes and they showed me that one of the pills I took was "stuck" at the opening and apparently it had happened every time I took that pill. Dang. Total unfill and have to start over again. My advise is to ask your pharmacist if the pill can be crushed and if so get a pill crusher, tastes horrible but better than the alternative of getting stuck. Even after a year I took mine (thinking no problem before) and took it as usual and ended up having to get totally unfilled to relieve the gastric and inflamation problem. No matter how long you have been banded it can sneak up on you. Good luck and hope it gets better for you.

When do you stop eating before fill?
Mine says nothing to eat or drink 4 hrs before the fill and liquids for a couple of days afterwards, mushies for a couple days more and work yourself back up. Everyone's dr is different but this really works for me.

Band Slippage Surgery
I was having serious acid reflux so bad I had to sleep sitting up and still chocked each night) so I had developed another bleeding ucler so when to get band checked. Good news no slip but close had a big bulge and if I had waited any longer it would have slipped. They unfilled me completely and now I sleep great. I go back in 30 days for a fill and start the process all over again. Culprit - thought a little Sprite would be ok, NOT. Follow the rules and stay away from carbonated drinks. By the way, haven't lost hardly any weight while this problem was going on.

Christmas Weightloss Challenge
Now down 4.4 lbs. I don't like to weigh in on Mondays (old WW phobia:)). I had gone in just a few days prior to Thanksgiving to have my band checked to make sure it didn't "slip" during a run of the stomach bug (it hadn't) and didn't have the same restiction afterwards and gained, ugh, not what I wanted. Went for another fill last Wednesday and have now started losing again. I think if I can get close to my goal I will be a very happy camper. Good luck everyone!

Texans Bandsters
RubyTuesday, I have a CPAP machine. It takes alittle bit of getting used to it but once you start you will see and feel a difference. My DH says he slept with an alien but at least he could get some sleep too. I have a case for mine and it's easy to store, don't know about plane travel with one. I haven't used mine in about a month now with my weight loss so far. I still will snore loud enough to wake myself up once in a while when my head is stoppe up. Good luck!

I got a fill and can't drink anything w/out throwing up
I had the stomach bug and threw up like that and decided to call the dr office. They told me to drink cold stuff which would help reduce the swelling much like a sprain, (good excuse for a Sonic Grape slushee) but to make sure I didn't have slippage I went and had a barium xray done. All was good. It pays to be careful. Good luck.

Medical and Restaurant Cards?
I sent in my registration form for my Lapband with the understanding that I would get a card to show resturants but never got an acknowlegement of my band registration. ?? Most resturants I have gone to do not recognize the card and not let not let me order off the childs menu. Maybe it was just the place I went to that didn't. Who knows. I do need to followup with my dr office to find out I guess.

Christmas Weightloss Challenge
Wow everyone is doing great! I think I bet the record for the lowest weight lost - .4  But I did take my measurements for the 1st time since I started and though the scales were not kind to me I have lost a total so far of 48 3/4" all over. I vow to do better on the scale next week. If I can only get 10 off by 12/23 I will be happy. Hang in there everyone I know I am.

Christmas Weightloss Challenge
I to have had trouble losing lately but I can say it is probably because I have not been exercising at all while planning my daughters wedding. The wedding was on Halloween (couple & guests in costume) and now I can concentrate on getting back to a schedule of walking, etc. I am going to make my goal by Christmas!

Nexium
I also was taking Nexium daily before surgery. Afterwards I took it for two days and it made me sick to my stomach so I quit taking it. My surgeon said that was good sign and my PCP did too. Had no problems since then either. Sad part is I had just gotten a 90 day refill a couple weeks before surgery on May 1st. Oh well it was worth it. You may experience the same thing after your surgery.

Inches vs. Pounds....
Hi everyone! I was banded May 1st and did really good until recently. I had a fill in August and just went for another one almost two weeks ago because I felt I was eating too much, lost only 2 lbs in almost 6 weeks but have lost another size in pants. This last fill was a good one and have lost about 3lbs but still feel good because I am apparently losing inches. I will measure myself on Nov 1st which will be the 1st time since I started my journey a few months ago. I have gone from a size 16 pants to an 8 & extra large top to med-lg depending on brand. So anyone who gets discouraged I say, "DON'T, hang in there."

How long were you out of work post-op??
I had mine done on a Friday and went back to work on Monday. Looking back I should have taken at least the following Monday off but I am sooo glad I did it!

what is pbing
OMG Lingra that is awful. I have found that this happens to me when I am VERY hungry and get in a hurry. I now prepare a protein drink just before I leave work which helps me slow down when I finally sit down to dinner and it seems to be helping. Chicken seems to be my worse enemy lately and I love chicken. Dumb cluckers.

What's for Supper?
I eat the toppings and if I still feel hungry I will break off tiny pieces of thin crust and dip in mustard. Sounds funky but I like it,

Why do we need several fills...
I am one of those too. Am on my 4th fill since being banded but was told I had alot of fat around my stomach. Had someone try to make me feel bad about having "so many" fills compared to her 2. Oh well, to each their own. :smile2:

Stressed Out over Stress Test!
I also got stressed about my stress tests which I "failed" 3 of them. Had to postpone my surgery because they wanted me to do the nuclear stress test. Passed! I am glad they were concerned and very glad I passed as I was starting to worry because heart disease runs in the family. Hang in there. , i had that done yesterday, and its not hard, you walk on a treadmill and when you reach your target heart rate they inject this radioactive fluid in your I.V. and then you wait 45 minutes and they take pictures of your heart, its not painful, but I got a metal taste in my mouth after it, but I think you will be ok, just talk to your doctor and get a better understanding of what is going on, and be glad that they are taking precaution before surgery. , i had that done yesterday, and its not hard, you walk on a treadmill and when you reach your target heart rate they inject this radioactive fluid in your I.V. and then you wait 45 minutes and they take pictures of your heart, its not painful, but I got a metal taste in my mouth after it, but I think you will be ok, just talk to your doctor and get a better understanding of what is going on, and be glad that they are taking precaution before surgery.

Mammogram and lap band port
My mam is scheduled for 9/11 and I am glad Pickles brought this up as I never thought about that. Ooh the girls are already starting to hurt just thinking about it. My port is in a good spot and I don't think I'll have a problem but I will mention it to the tech when I get mine done.

Texans Bandsters
How's everyone doing? Been a bit since I last posted. I have had a very slow time losing this past 5-6 weeks I guess I hit a plateau but not discouraged because I am still smaller than I was in April. I was due for a fill due as I was getting full really quick but put it off until this past Wednesday because we went to Las Vegas for our anniversary last weekend and have lost 2lbs since Wednesday maybe that plateau is starting to go away. Let's go Texans let everyone hear us holler!!

Full or stuck?
I get this problem too mostly with tough beef or dry chicken and waiting too long to eat. Went out for dinner one night took 1 bite and BAM! immediate pain and did a lot of spitting up for 20-30 minutes (sorry, gross I know) boxed up my food and had for lunch the next day with no trouble. I also have to remember to slow down and chew, chew, chew. With all that I am still very glad I was banded.

How long did you take of work?
I was banded on Friday, May 1st and went back to work that following Monday. I have a desk job but I do a lot of walking. Truthfully I probably should have taken at least that Monday off too but I think it helped me with the gas problem that is fairly common.
