  1. Finally!! After six weeks of waiting I am approved!!! I was beginning to doubt whether it would happen. Six weeks ago today the paperwork was first submitted and I got notice that the insurance needed two recent blood pressure readings, the results of the sleep study I had done 6 1/2 years ago and they needed the doctor doing the surgery to resubmit the letter to insurance with "his" signature no someone in his office. Got the BP readings immediately to them. I explained that the doctor who ordered the sleep study passed away from cancer and his office closed and the place I had the sleep study done at was now closed and I had no records to give them. My DH offered to take a picture of me sleeping with my CPAP machine but I said no, no one was going to see that. :w00t: So everything was resubmitted on the 18th to the insurance and the waiting began again. I called my case manager yesterday and she suggested I call the insurance RN myself to see if I could get a response. I called this afternoon and got her vm and hung up planning to call her back. Low and behold less than 10 minutes later she called me and told me I was APPROVED!!!!!!! Again less than 5 minutes later I had a call from the Doctors office scheduling my appointment with the surgeon. Sorry for this being so long but I am sooo excited I can hardly stand it. My DH says to schedule it as quick as I can (I think he is excited for me too). So, a short story made long I say to everyone who is waiting for approval and getting totally frustrated on the waiting part, HANG IN THERE!! it's worth it. :smile2:

    Dancing in Texas!!!!

We almost bought a house in Colleyville. Amy Elizabeth is my daughter's name also. Dr Marsden will be doing mine in Hurst and I have an appt next Thursday with him. Even though it took 6 weeks to finally get approved I am lucky that I don't have to do the 6 month thing which really surprised me but I have been on every diet out there known to man but I am totally stoked and ready.

    Hello everyone

Welcome! I started with talking with people I work with who have had it done. They all said to find a doctor who does this type of surgery for a living because they are more familiar with how to do the surgery and to attend a seminar in my area to see if it was actually something I really wanted to do. This forum is a very good place to talk to others who have had it done and learn. Internet research is another tool I used. Good luck!

    Hello....pre-surgery jitters

I am at the same point as the two of you are. My paperwork was submitted to ins and I am waiting. Waiting on someone else to make a decision about my health is SO HARD!

    Unsure

I know what you mean. I am still waiting for approval. I am anxious and the waiting is hard then I remember why I want to do this...the sweetest two things in my life, Caleb and Caden, my grandsons. I have in the past "been there, done that, never got the t-shirt", done it on my own but always wind up in this same spot. I know everyone here has been in the same place and will be a great source of help and information. Good luck to you and remember, we can do this and we can do it together.

    New Gurl

That's great. I am still waiting for approval, The insurance wanted the last 2 BP readings sure wish I could use what it was last night (191/98). They had to request the surgeon to resign the verification, someone else had done it and the insurance wanted his signature. Dud, who would have thought. Right now my "walking" consists of our dogs walking us but it's a good work out. I love snow, we don't get much here in TX. It was 28 Sunday morning (we were RV camping) and it supposed to be mid 80s Thursday. Go figure.

    New Gurl

Thanks Olivia_99. Good for you on having the fish and veggies instead of the pizza. Pizza is one of my favorites so I can imagine how hard it must have been. Have you been banded long?

  12. Hi everyone! New here and like some of you I am now waiting on insurance approval. Just found out my paperwork was submitted to insurance last Thursday. Part of me is so afraid to get excited and my stomach is tied up in knots. Good luck to everyone who is playing the waiting game along with me.

    Waiting Game for Approval

Thanks I appreciate the support. I love being a Texan. Going out of town and worried about missing "the" call so I made sure I could access my work vm and hope I have cell service where I will be, that's how stressed I am. Guess I can run, I mean walk, up the highest point for a good signal.

    CPAP crap!

Hi I too have a CPAP and am so glad I do. I got tired of being tired all the time from the snoring (waking myself up multiple times) and worrying about keeping my DH awake so much I would sit up all night. When I first got it it took me a few days to get use to the air pressure and I had to get the small over the nose type. I sleep on my back so when I snore my mouth wouldn't stay shut so I tied a bandana under my chin to keep it shut, like Jacob Marley in the Christmas Carol. Looks funny but it works like a charm. DH says he feels he is sleeping with an alien but I tell him at least he is sleeping. It does get easier so don't give up on it, it worth it.

    New and have questions

Sorry, said I was new to this forum, heck to any forum. Anyway I need 3 things, 1 psych eval, 1 visit with a licensed nutritionist, and a letter from my pcp listing all the diets I had tried. Did the psych evaluation yesterday and she said she didn't see any reason I won't be approved. Do you think I can get a little excited about being approved? Wish I was closer to getting banded like you all.
