  1. Hi Jeni! How r u today? I can really tell that I had the fill. It is much tighter today! I lost another few pounds so now it is down to 23. I am sure it is cuz of the liquids again. No matter I will take them! Hey if you would ever like to talk with out the lapband talk you can get me at: thetig@mac.com or my cell number is 818 4384619. It was sure nice meeting you yesterday! I am wishing you all of the best in this. Talk to you Soon! Cheryl

  2. Happy Easter To U! I am happy to hear from you and to know that u r okay! Staples what a drag! U will feel much better when they come out. I was lucky with Glue! I went real slow at work this last week! They all think that I had some kind of Stomach surgery, I just did not feel like telling them all my business. I only told a couple of my really good friends at work that I see outside of work. R U walking around a lot? How is the Gas? I stayed on the nothing liquids for 8 days! IT was so good to have a taste of Baby Food! It was great! haha! I have had a bit of everything and I am staying away from bread, it got stuck and dry turkey gets stuck. I find fish is really good and goes down well. I am having a hard time getting down all the water but that was my problem with any diet! hehe! I have been good with my walking this weekend it sure makes a difference. Talk to U soon! C

  3. Well, I am going to tell you that this was the best thing I have ever done. I am repeating myself I am sure. I had a total of 100 pounds to loose and I have tried everything under the sun as you have also I am sure. I am lucky out here in CA, I did not go to any seminars, no pre liquid diet, nothing. I decided in December this is what I wanted and they went online to find the Doc! Saw Doc in January then endoscopy had to be done, a therapist,

nutritionist. All info to BX approved in a week date set and now all done! I have made friends with a few people here and we all have had good experiences with banding! Please keep in touch! I would like to be your friend! Cheryl

  4. I am hoping that if anyone reads my blog that you will see that this is really not hard at all. I see all sorts of blogs that really scare you to death and you have to wonder as I did if I was going to be doing the right thing. Well, I am here to tell you that You are going to be or have already done the right thing! Being banded is great! I know what I can and can't eat and I do not even try to overeat! Why, then are we seeing so many blogs of people that are not succeeding! I want to make this work and my band wants to work with me! I am 17 days PO and I was not on any pre op diet and I have lost 17 pounds to date! I have been on mushies and real food since day 9. Very very slowly have I added back foods and not all of my food is back yet. Weight loss has slowed down a little bit since adding but I am sure that is to be expected. I ALWAYS MEASURE out my food and I always eat my protein first! If I am full after the 3-4 oz of protein I stop and do not eat anything more. I have been remiss in walking this week so I will get that going today! Please ask questions! Remember! PROTEIN PLUS WALKING EQUALS FAT LOSS! Happy Easter!
  5. Julie.ann, thanks for the comment on my blog today. I just want to say that I subscribe to your blog and I am so very happy that you are out there! You have inspired me! C

This is not hard to do at all!

Hi There WDW! I am glad to see that there are other people out there who are tired of all the negative aspects of being Banded! This was the best choice that I have made in my walk of being way to chubby! Maybe we should all get together and start a new Thread on the Positive Side of being Banded! That is a good idea! Have you been banded yet? If so how are you doing? If not when is your date? C

  8. Hey Doodlebug! How R U doing? I feel so bad that I did not get a chance this week to write to you. I started back to work this last Tuesday and Yes, there is still a mess to finish cleaning UP!

How is it going? Have U had any problems? I am down 17 pounds since Surgery 17 days ago. Have not been to doc yet, next week I will go.

Please write! Thinking about you! Happy Easter!

  9. Hey There LL! Sorry I my delay in getting back to you. Started back to work and seem to have no time for my important things in life! HEHE! You are doing so great! I am so very proud of you! Go to my Doctor for the first time on Tuesday this next week. I have been doing very good also. No problems! I was able to go to mushies after the first week per the doc, just to go slow and to chew a lot. No real problems yet. I thought I had something stuck a couple of times. It is really cool that you CANNOT overeat! I measure everything!

Have you tried any real food yet?

I am down 17 pounds. I did not have any pre op diet so my weight loss started the day before surgery which is now 17 days. I really feel great and I am happy with the loss.

I am also glad to hear that you are doing well! Have you heard from Doolebug at all?

She went this last Monday! I will send her a message now also! Keep up the good work and I will talk to you soon! Cheryl

  10. Hi Sweetheart, I was just reading your blog from yesterday. I too felt very confused by all of the different talk here on LB, but I am here to tell you that after the band, and having just started mushies, if you eat more or less slowly, you will feel when you are full, you kinda get a hick-up. Just stop then and see what happens. I for one just ate my way to 20 pounds heavier tasting all that I wanted before my surgery. Getting all of that out of my craving brain! Glad I did. This will work for you! C

  11. Hi There, As of today, One week PO I am down 15 pounds. My Doc was not one to put me on the liquid diet until just 2 days before surgery. I called his office yesterday and I am on mushies now. Just a little bit. I was told to go at my own speed for re introducing food back into my diet. I tried a scrambled egg last night and it felt very strange for a couple of hours. This AM I am trying Oatmeal, so far not bad. I must keep my protein up. Yesterday also, I started walking on my treadmill, very slowly and only walked for 15 min. I will walk again today maybe for 20. The gas is much much better today. Something to look forward to. Remember to do windmills with your arms as often as you remember it really helps. Try to keep away from the pain meds if you can. I still have had no pain. I will be returning to work on Tuesday. I am getting very bored here at home. Monday is your big day, it will all go well I am sure. Prayers coming your way. C

    Day 3..after surgery

Hey There, Jenn30, I am 7 days PO and I have not had any trouble at all except for the gas, and even that has not been so bad! I am going to start on my treadmill today very slowly. No Pain Meds for me either. My swelling is down considerably as of yesterday. My belly button looks like a belly button again. The area above where my port is is still a little tender and swollen but not much! All the best to you! Cheryl
  13. I was banded in Los Angeles, CA by a Fab young Doc named Michael Feiz. I had done a lot of research on him before choosing him. Please feel free to ask me any questions or to talk about any fears you might have. I started this process on Jan. 20, 09 and as you see I was banded two months later. I weigh a bit more than you but I have had more time in years to gain then you also. LOL . I am hoping to loose 110 pounds. I will set a goal for myself in small increments but I sure would like to see 70 pounds gone by my birthday in July! 12 gone 58 to go! Talk to you soon, Cheryl

  14. Hi There, I was also banded on March 26th. I to have the gas from hell, but I have been assured that it will cease after a week! My doc gave me a pill for the nausea and vomiting and so far I have only taken one. Remember it is only day 5 PO, we can do this! Stay in touch! Thetig

Angry at the Band or the Doctor??

Hey Bio Teach! Don't give up yet, has anyone said to go back on your liquid diet again with only the protein shakes, water, broth and juice? Just might give you the kick start that you need to get a handle back on this journey. Remember also that the band is just a tool, it is not magic and it by itself will not make us loose the weight. We still have to work at it everyday just like before. We still have to give up our favorite foods just like before and we have to start an exercise program just like we have never wanted to do in the past. A friend of mine who has been truly successful with the LB told me she has totally stayed with the couple of cups of food allowed at each meal and it has been really hard for her but she has lost over 100 pounds now. Sure our head will tell us anything we want to hear but our stomach is very quite and if we do not listen we will not hear that we are full and we should stop eating. So limit yourself to small portions, exercise by taking a walk for 30 mins three days a week, keep your protein up and your carbs down! THIS WILL WORK IF YOU WORK WITH IT! Remember it is all about us, we can do this! This is a good talk to myself also, Cheryl
  16. Hey DB, When is your surgery the 6th of April? I just want to make sure you are in my thoughts on that day. Please if you have any questions just ask. I am a bit worried about LL, she should be getting around by now I would think. I am so very very thankful that I am doing so well, I am sure it is because I have a Mom and a prayer chain praying for me all the way. Hope you are well, Cheryl

  17. Hey LL, Just like DB, I have been thinking about you! I really hope you are doing well. I have been so very lucky so far with no pain! Get in touch when you can! Cheryl

  18. Hi There Fitflab25, you got it! Here it is day 5 PO and still no pain! I am truly amazed! I have been told by many that the gas will go away after a week from the surgery. You can't beat that. I am now just waiting to see when I can start my mushies. I am really tired of Liquids. I look forward everyday to my pills because I can crunch them with my teeth! LOL! When will you be banded and Where? Cheryl

    Second Day of PO

I was home by 10:30 am Friday. It was good to be there. No problems with the ride home, still NO PAIN! First Day PO you really just feel tired and beat it was hard to get down the liquids not from the LB stand point just because you forget. I did start my walking around the back yard right away! It felt really good to be off my back and on my feet then it happened the biggest and longest FART I could imagine!!!!! boy did that feel good! hehehe! From that moment on I have been a little tooting fool! I still have the same Gas in the left shoulder and back and now it feels as though it is across my sternum area. It is very uncomfortable! I got down a protein shake and I felt less shaky, I am still going out and walking every chance I remember this really helps and I am drinking all that I can every hour. I used a lot of Tylenol the first and second days PO. I do feel as though someone has been on the inside of me having a boxing match, it is not pain but extreme soreness all over. I slept much better Saturday night.

    Bandyland Here I Come!

I spoke with Dr. Feiz's office yesterday and I now have a date! It will be on March 26th. No special diet before hand just have to see one more doctor for pre op blood work to be taken this Monday. I will be having my surgery at Cedars Sinai in LA. I will have to stay there for 24 hours. That should not be so bad. My DH will take me and stay till surgery is over then come back to get me the next day. I was called by a nurse from BX saying that she would like to keep track of my progress and because she is a nurse, would be able to answer any questions or frustrations that I might have going thru this post op time. I do not have to do this but I said that I would. It does not cost me anything so I will see how it goes. In reading other blogs I feel really lucky that it has only taken me two months from start to surgery! I am so ready for Bandyland! I am so excited!!!!!!!!
  21. Day Three......I slept better last night. I found that in my sleep I had turned onto my side I hope that is not a bad thing I just can't stay on my back and my butt is very sore. Protein shake is good! I am crushing my normal pills up and mixing them in 2 tsp of applesauce it is really good to have something a little solid in my mouth. No problems with the bad either. I tried Cream of Chicken Soup today, yummy! This is the kind you mix with water not milk. I had a 1/2 cup for lunch then a whole cup for dinner. I felt really full. Still no pain at all. By the way I went to the market with DH Sunday also it was not problem. I came home put the groceries away and then I was pooped so I sat and watched movies the rest of the day. Well here it is day four, DH is back to work so I am on my own which I really do not mind at all. I have lost over 10 pounds already but who wouldn't when you have not had anything to eat! LOL. My incisions are starting to itch this is good. Oh by the way I forgot to tell you that I am glued not stitched up. No dressing at all I was showering already on Day one home from Hospital, just no washing of the tummy area! Today the shoulder, back gas is still there. I have to say that I do believe that this is the worse part of this whole experience and have been told it will last for at least a week. I am not sure if Dr. Michael Feiz is just magical or what, but I have not had any problems thru this surgical & PO time at all. It is quite amazing. I will not be seeing him this week since I am doing so well, my first appointment will be April 14th unless I feel I need to see him before then. I think I will call to see if I might be able to start mushies at the end of this week. Please if you have any questions to anyone who reads this blog please contact me. We are all here to share our experiences with each other and to help if we can! I hope all of you will do as well as I have! Cheryl

  24. Hey DB, Well, here I am to tell the tale. I am three days PO and I have to tell you this has not been bad. I have a total of 4 cuts the largest one just above my naval where my port is. No pain, but very very stiff and sore like someone was inside of me and had a boxing match. Also be aware of the gas that gets caught up in the shoulders and chest area. I was told about it before and I have it now. It is like a ache that just does not go away. That really is the biggests hurt so far. I was glued together so no dressing and I was able to shower yesterday. I do not feel hungry but I am getting tired of the liquid and am looking forward to my first taste of scrambled egg! LOL I really hate eggs but they sound good!

Please ask me any question that you might have It is all still very fresh. I will try to write all my memories down in my blog later today or tomorrow.

    Talk to you soon, Cheryl

  25. Well, here I am getting myself ready for tomorrow. Pain meds, check, copy of living trust, check, All jewelry off, check, copy of ID and Insurance card, check, Shower and wash my hair, check. There must be something that I am forgetting. Oh Well! The hardest part of this so far is not knowing how I will feel after the procedure! I am sure hoping that I will be a lucky one and not have any complications. Only 24 hours will tell the tale! LOL! I hope that my LB Buddy LighterLoad did well today! And I hope I will hear from her in the next few days. I am not afraid at all, what I am is ready to have this done and get on with life. I am so looking forward to the weight coming off! This is going to be really GOOD! Here is to a good surgery tomorrow! I will write more just as soon as I can.
