  3. I am much better! How about you? I go for my 1 week check up today. Most of the pain is gone, port site is sore and some gas still, but WAY better! I am ready to be off liquids though!!

  4. February Foxes have to stick together! ; )

  5. Hi! Glad to hear your surgery went well too! How are you feeling? I am feeling better, but have been surprised by how much this surgery took me down! I wasn't expecting that! But everyday I feel better and know that I am on a great new adventure! Best of luck to you as well!!

  6. Hi Sommer, It's getting better each day. The gas pains are subsiding, but the bloating is still there. I am up walking each day and trying to go back to work. I work at home, so that makes it easy. I am only good for a few hours of work at a time though. I haven't been tolerating the protein drinks or anything for that matter very well. But I keep trying. I got some chewable vitamins for now, but will probably get some liquid vitamins from GNC or something soon. How are you doing?? Thanks for the hugs.....hugs back to you****

  7. Hi, just checking in! Sorry I didn't reply to your last comment, I missed it. I am from Texas, around the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. I had my surgery this past Wednesday. I am still recovering from the surgery, but feeling better every day! How have you been?

  8. Hi Amber!

Just checking in with you! How are you doing? I had my surgery this past Wednesday and I am feeling pretty good, still in some pain, but pretty good. I am looking forward to this journey!! Take care,

    Shelley

  9. Hi Laura,

I am feeling better today, everyday gets a little bit better. The gas pains are still there, but not as much. I am not taking much pain medication anymore, but a little sore and bloated feeling. I have no appetite and have to struggle to get a whole protein drink down! Did your doctor fill your band at all at the time of surgery? Mine explained to me that in the beginning the stomach is swelled enough to cause some restriciton and then at 6 weeks, I get a real fill. I am so glad to hear you are doing so well at 2 weeks postop! And 2 lbs. lost! Yeah! It will be fun to watch the scales drop and the clothes sizes go down! Yippee!! I am trying to take it easy and not over do it. I have been walking some, but tire real easy. Take care and hope to talk to you soon!

  10. Just wanted to say Hi, I saw you on one of the threads and saw that you just had surgery, Congrats! Mine was 2/25/09. It's been a tough journey so far, but it's getting better every day! Walking has helped the gas pains alot for me. I don't really have much hunger yet. The pain after surgery was way worse than I had imagined, but I am getting through and so will you!!! Best wishes!!

  11. Shonia,

Surgery went well! I was home by 2:30 that afternoon. Turns out I did have a hiatal hernia and the doctor repaired it! yeah! Hopefully, no more reflux. The gas pains are pretty bad...my left shoulder has been the worst! I have a pain pump and liquid Lortab. I have been using GasX and a heating pad for the gas...its about all that helps. I had alot of pain last night because I let too much time pass between pain meds. Won't make that mistake again. Haven't been hungry at all. Been on clear liquids until this evening, had a protein shake and felt icky for about an hour afterwards.

  12. -continued-

I don't have alot of energy and I am really sore, but overall I think I am doing pretty good. I can't sleep in my bed yet, I have been in the recliner. I think I will be better tomorrow. They put a 10 cc lap-band on me. They said my liver looked good and had no problems! I was happy about that. I go for a check up this Tuesday and then for a fill in 6 weeks. It should be interesting! Thank you so much for keeping me in your prayers and thoughts...it must have worked!!

It's time for some pain meds and bedtime, so I will talk to you soon!

  17. I know, tonight will be the worst with sleep! I wish you the best of luck tomorrow!!! : ))

  18. Getting nervous!!! How about you??!

  19. When you go back to work, just take it day by day and only tell people if and when you are ready. I have not told everyone, only the important people in my life. I have had some opposition from some of them already, but only because they think that I am not big enough for surgery! Whatever, I am not listening to them. They don't know the struggle I have had. I am glad that I am able to encourage you, you have definitely encouraged me as well! We have a long road ahead, but one I actually look forward to!!

  20. Hi Laura,

Thank you for all the wonderful information you are sharing with me!! It sure helps to have buddies in this journey. Wow, .75 to 1 lb a day!! Amazing! :w00t: It is going to be a fun to see how our bodies morph into something we probably have seen in years! I know I am looking forward to having some variety in my diet and actually look forward to the post-op diet! - cont -

  21. Hi!

I have to admit that this preop diet has been the hardest thing I have ever done! But I am still hanging in there and doing pretty good! I know, I worry about the liver thing too, but I am trying to keep a positive outlook about it. I am excited about the surgery and also nervous. At my last check, I had lost 8 lbs. in about a week! But the weight loss is kind of secondary to me right now simply b/c getting used to this new lifestyle has been really hard. I beleive it will be worth it in the end! We are going to have our bands soon and be losing weight and looking hot before you know it!!! : )))

Hang in there and keep your eye on the ball!!!

    Shelley

  22. Hi,

I am excited and nervous about the surgery, but I am ready. The diet has been hard, but I think I have done fairly well. I also think it helps in getting you ready for what is to come. That is awesome that you don't have to use your cpap machine! Success, already!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  23. Hi Laura,

It was good to hear from you! How are things going now? Did you have your appt with the surgeon yet? Wow...9 lbs. since surgery! I am sure that the weight loss will slow down to a more steady rate as times goes on. Are you still feeling gassy? Which side is your port on? I sleep on my left side most of the time, so I was wondering if I should ask the surgeon if he could put in on the right side. I am thinking maybe your day out to lunch was just what you said, a combination of car sickness and food that you might not have been ready for. This is really a time of learning and finding out what your body can or can't handle and I don't think the doctors even know exactly what to tell you to expect, since everybody has a different journey! Give yourself a big hug for your braveness and know you can make it through!! Shelley

  24. Hi Laura, how are you doing today? Just thinking about you. I go for pre-op testing for surgery today...blood work, ekg and whatever else they decide to do. The liquid diet has been tough and I have had my moments, but I am hanging in there!

    Take care!!

    Shelley

  25. I have to admit that this Pre-Op diet is harder than I thought it would be. I really wanted to eat a regular meal yesterday for Valentine's Day and I talked to my husband about it. He convinced me to stick to the diet, but it was SO hard!! Just hang there and get back on the horse today and you will be fine. I think postop that you can have yogurt, pudding, jello, broth and protein shakes for the first week and then move into soft foods and then finally solid food. I think it just depends on how your body reacts to them as to when or how soon you have them. My surgery is scheduled for early at 7:30 am, but I have to be there at 6am. It's like it will never get here, but you know it will! Good luck and hang in there!
