Has anyone ever heard we banders only have a window of opportuniity to lose weight. If this is true, how long is it? and why can't we continue to lose? It doesn't make sense to me. Help me understand or have I been misinformed?

Make sure you are drinking a lot of fluids between your meals. I find If i don't drink at least 2 cups of Water or crystal light between meals I get hungry. Just a thought.

no regrets here. I knew if I didn't do some something I would continue the pattern of gaining 10 or more pounds per year. I'm 5'2" and weighed 265. I was miserable. I'm down 38# since the day before surgery, 8 weeks post op. Tons of energy and some positive attention from friends and family. Good luck with your decision

I'm with Alliemorris. I weigh everyday. It can be a blessing as well as a curse. It keeps me line but at the same time it can really bum me out. I need a new obsession b/c food is no longer one.

Do we only have a window of opportunity to lose weight with a gastric band? I've heard this but it doesn't make sense to me. If so, how long is it? and why would it(the band) stop working after a certain amount of time?

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience with the band. I wish you the best luck in your weight loss future. We're always here for you, even if your don't have a band. Don't be a stranger and keep us posted on your journey.

I agree with LollyMoe. If I could go weekly I would, ours are only monthly as well. Definitely keeps me motivated.

hi, I noticed when I started pureed foods @ weeks post op, my weight loss stalled. I was losing and gaining the same 3 # for 3 weeks. I kept adjusting my calories to find the amount I needed to lose weight. I eat about 900-1000 and lose regularly, everyone's amt is different. I walk 6 times a week and started the jillian michaels 30 day shred when I was on full exercise.

I was on Clear Liquids the 1st day then I was on full liquids for the next 10 days, at my post op visit they moved me onto pureed 2 weeks then soft 1 week then regular foods. They have just changed the guidelines to one week of each phase for all 3 docs at my clinic. Not sure how long to heal. I've heard 4 - 6 weeks. 400 cals sound way too low. I was eating 700-800 cal at your stage. My nutritionist told me to concentrate on fluids and Protein I've lost 29.5 # since surgery on 9/18/09 At my 10 day post op I was down 11#, at my 6 weeks I was down another 10.5#, and have lost an additional 8# in a little over 2 weeks.

Hey Trish, I know how you feel. I had surgery 9/18/09 and have had one 3cc. fill in a 9cc band. I had restriction for that day only. I can eat as much as i want, large bites go down and i can guzzle Water. I try to eat healthy food and limit myself to one cup of food and eat slowly. But some days I have about 1 1/2 cups, then I feel guilty. I miss the full feeling I used to have. I have my second fill next week also, another 3ccs. My doc is letting me schedule fills every 3 weeks. Another Doc at my clinic does fills for his patients every 2 weeks. Call the manufacturer of your band and see what they recommend for frequencies of fills for your band. I would be pretty angry if I had your doc and would try to find another doc for fills. :angry:Ask him the reason why he wants you to wait so long in between fills? I'd like to hear his reasoning? If he's too busy, maybe he could recommend another doc that can accommodate your needs. Good luck to you. I'm sorry your doc is not working for YOU.

I was realize banded 9/18/09. No problems so far.Just a little tugging where my port is when I twist my waist for any length of time. I've had one fill 3ccs. no restriction yet but have lost 38#. another 3 cc to be put in a week. Trying to be optimistic that I won't encounter any problems down the road.

Wow I'm sorry to hear about your leaky port. That has to be very disappointing. I hope things work out for you. barb:sad:

I'm right there with all of you. I had surgery 7 weeks ago with one 3cc fill ( restriction only for that day. But it felt great) Back to beibg able to eat anything and not full on 3/4c of food. Stopped losing weight about 3 weeks ago. Very frustrating:frown: I get another fill on the 18th of Nov. , hopefully restriction. Holidays are tough enough as it is. Wishing all of you some restriction too. Barb

I have lost 30# as well and I can hold my urine longer and don't have leakage problems either, barb

Hey everyone,Does anyone else have issues with eating Breakfast?? I love breakfast but since my last fill (6cc's total), I have not been able to eat breakfast at all. First bite I take feels stuck and I have to quit eating. So I have to drink a Protein shake for breakfast instead.
Let me know if anyone else has these issues!!
I'm haven't had a fill yet but I have heard this is pretty common. A lot of people have said the Protein shakes are what they have in the AM and can eat regularly the rest of the day. Not sure if the band loosens during the day
Your First Fill Date!!!
