I am in Texas and the best I could find is $13,500 and I am paying for it! And let me tell ya to find these funds we are wipeing us all out. And we have a big family. But he is close and has a good reputation and well the fills are free for life and this includes working with a nutricanist. I am familiar with Mexico and have had dental work there and it was done wonderfully and I will be going back for more at a later date. But, I went to someone that was recommend by friends not just anyone. I do know that in Montery Mexico a friend of a friend had Gastro bypass some yrs back and it went well for her. But to be honest Lap band is a different procedure all together and I do not think they have enough experience to do it. I wish you all the best. Please be careful.

After reading some here hey I guess I too will join! NEVER WILL MISS: HIDING FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW ME CAUSE I AM SO FAT I DONT WANT THEM TO SEE ME THIS BIG! NO FITTING INTO SMALL PLACES BEING THE BIGGER PERSON IN THE ROOM. UGLY FAT GIRL CLOTHES I HATE THEM FEELING SO FULL THAT I CAN NOT GET UP JUST FOOD FOGGED THINKING STRANGERS ARE STAREING AT WHAT I AM EATING OR AT MY SIZE FEELING LESS OF A PERSON CAUSE I AM OVERWEIGHT ALWAYS BEING TOLD BUT "YOU" ARE SO PRETTY! "SO PRETTY"! (YEAH!) i know there are so many other things so many. just in the moment this is all i will list. i think i will enjoy just being able to be me and fitting , fitting into a room and not feeling like i stand out because of my size.

OK I see it this way. If I could have done it on my own and kept it off I would have and I have not been able to. There will be times we all fall. And lets face it going from overeating the way we all are use to now shakes it is hard. And once the band is there , just knowing it is there, this will make things a lot easier. And ya know hearing of other banders not missing old foods- habits is so inspiring. I may fall but I am quick back on my feet!

Thank you for that! I think a lot of this is mental. And it can be broken. I have proven time and time again I can lose weight pull the #s. It is keeping it. This is why I have to have the band. And I too want all cravings to go bye bye!

HI lil Miss! I am on day 9 of my preop and I have lost 13 pounds. I had a BMI of 53 and have to drop now 22 more pds.. AND all I can have is shakes and 3oz Protein at night. W/veggies. I am self pay. SO I could take more time if needed to think this through.... I just dont know. Today I ate a grilled chicken sandwich. I was dying for as you say real food. I have wanted this for so long and now since the preop All I can think of is this the right thing for me will I be able to follow through and make this work,.... I keep thinking this is all due to lack of fatty foods! LOL I hope. I am thinking about food now more than ever....And I keep thinking can I do it this myself? (would I not have by now?) I have lost b4 big weight to only regain....I am like totally questioning myself... I was so ready until this preop. I have no I idea I would have to do this preop and lose 30 b4 surgery I am so sick! ( I think I maybe being dramatic) but at this moment in time this seems so huge and all I want is to be able to think clearly and I seriouslly am not sure if all of these thoughts are due to lack of food intake or what? Please no bad come backs. I dont think I could take them right now.

HI Hal and all! I am on Preop and it is a miserable thing! I had a 53 BMI and still need to drop 22 pounds to get mine done. I have dropped 13 so far and now the next 22. WOW what a shocker! it has been awful honestly and I hope I am not being dramatic! And all of these questions too in mind...I have been over weight my whole life. Eating will never be the same. I cook and cook big I have a large family. AND now the huge question in my mind is can I do this? Should I do this? Is it really what I need to do? Is there anything I could have done to not get at this point. ANd then if I am feeling all of these ways then should I wait a while longer to go through with this??? I dont know. I lost 140 pds in the yr of 2005 of a weight loss plan and gained every pound back within 3 yrs and it was awful probley more of the reason to get the surgery done. I am scared and worried about something foreign going into my body and. All of the sudden all of the restrictions are scaring the heck out of me!! I am with ya Hal! This is huge. And maybe we just need more time and more soul searching. Good luck!

Hi all! I am finally ready to go in and get it done! And am thinking 4 weeks until I will finally be limited on my food intake. I have used food for years since a child to soothe me and now I will have some big changes to go through. I am so so excited and happy that this surgry is out here and I am able to go through with it and finally put an end to a lifelong problem. So glad this site is here. Kinda a lonely journey. I have been quite with getting this done. Lets face it unless you have this problem you can not understand.

GOT TO SAY IT 30 pounds is so so SO awsome!!! You may need anthor fill? I am new to this and not banded yet but from what I read this could be it. AWSOME WORK!!

Good luck to you. This seems to be a kinda lonely process. I am scheduled to meet with my doc next week to schedule my surgry date. I have been quite with going though with this process. Just can not explain to others who do not have this problem what this means to me. If you do not suffer with your weight they have no clue. Wishing you all the best.
