I won't follow the herd any more...

I guess that depends on YOU. Would you show up in a pack... er ...group to defend all 234 folks?

I'm going to have to force myself to eat.

Oh, and I have had 4 fills totalling 2.6ccs in a 4cc band.

I'm going to have to force myself to eat.

"head hunger" is still a problem for me sometimes. There are times that I would kill for a Big Mac. I cannot eat bread and I know that I could not eat one. What a deterrent! (I hope I spelled that right). Even though I am not physically hungry and could not POSSIBLY eat one, I still crave them at times, you know? I guess that is "head hunger" or my concept of it.

Do you tell people you're banded?

A bunch of people swear by them. I have not tried them yet but there have been times when I wished that I had some!

Do you tell people you're banded?

Papaya tablets are a home remedy for "getting stuck". (when food cannot pass through your band) Some swear by it and some do not.

Do you tell people you're banded?

I have only told my family and one friend. No one at my work knows. I feel that it is my business and I would not share that info anymore than my other medical information. I consider it private.

    Adding protein shakes

PB2 is powdered peanut butter. I think you can buy it online. It is good to add into other stuff (like shakes) to give a peanut butter flavor. I think you can reconstitute it to make peanut butter too but I heard it is not as good that way. It is supposed to be great mixed in shakes!

Do You Agree With Brad ??

It isn't a very good reason, but hey it happens! There is too much going on in the world to waste time. Trying to change someone's spiritual beliefs or non-beliefs is next to impossible. I think we should enjoy spending time with folks we like and religious beliefs can be set aside for an evening...

I won't follow the herd any more...

I don't drink either, I just joke about it. Due to advanced liver disease (credited to my obesity, not alcohol), I must avoid liver damaging things as much as possible. My doc says some people can be 400 pounds for years and keep a perfect liver, but some of us at under 300 ruin our liver.

what are you listening to now?

I second the vote for peaceful silence. It is awesome. Usually I listen to classic rock or country.

What I've learned since being banded

You are so right! We don't realize how much our weight is harming us. I know that I didn't. As I get healthier, I know more and more that the band was the right thing for me.

Yeah, it isn't just a river in Egypt.....

I won't follow the herd any more...

Also, it is an "enter at your own risk" kinda thing....you are not forced to go through and read it to get to other info. You can avoid this forum entirely when you don't want to get in the mud. That is what I love about it.
  16. mrspruett

I won't follow the herd any more...

Yep, getting muddy is occasionally fun!

Yeah, come on Wendall! I have seen it and it definitely shows her "sweet" side.

I won't follow the herd any more...

My nutritionist says if you want a candy bar, have one. A piece of birthday cake? Go ahead. This is a LIFELONG journey not a DIET. She just says to make good choices MOST of the time.

I won't follow the herd any more...

Wendall, I think we all can agree that it is no one's business what you eat. This band journey is very personal and all we can do is give each other our honest experience and opinions and trust that all SENSIBLE people will follow their doctor's orders.
  21. 2 weeks for me. By then, I was feeling quite well. One week would have been too soon for me.

    What would you change?

For me the physical thing would be my body type: I am very apple shaped and I think that even when I get to goal, I will be thick in the middle. The mental or situational would be that I never really decided what I would like to do for a living (even at 45). I feel like I missed my calling somehow. For hubby, I wish he was taller. He is about my height but I had always liked taller men. I also wish he was more goal-oriented. But I still LOVE him dearly!

Do You Agree With Brad ??

Yeah, but do you like margaritas???
  24. mrspruett

    Totally random question - pleaseeeeee

The canned biscuit idea is a good one! You can make mini pizzas in a muffin pan (like Lauraj23 said). They are delish! But I haven't been able to eat bread since being banded......

What is that old saying,"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." ?
