    Dr. Trace Curry- Cincinnati Ohio

I have Dr. C and have had a wonderful band experience. I love that he will answer your emails personally if you are his patient. He even helps people who are not his patients by volunteering his time on message boards for lapband surgery. You chose a great doc.

'08 - Who do you want?

Bwahaaaahaaa! That is most definitely a safe bet........
  5. Whoops. I hate the edit function here! So I will just clarify that I still read at Obesity Help, just not very often. I used to read there quite a lot when I was researching the band but not as much since my surgery.
  6. Midnightblue- it sounds as though you have interacted with these ladies at OH and somehow felt they did you an injustice. I respect your opinion and your right to voice it. I just wanted to tell you that some of us at LBT have had a different experience with the OP of this thread. She is liked by a lot of people here, but not all. I guess no one is loved by everyone. Maybe you could get to know her a little better here at LBT before judging her so harshly. The environment at OH can bring out the worst in people (at least in the old days when I used to read there). Also, before anyone asks, I am not a member of the P***y possee as Tommy O calls it. I just try to be fair. Until someone proves that they are two-faced or backstab others, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. =)
  7. From my experience, Wasa tends to be a straight forward person. She may be a bit blunt, (sorry Wasa, you know we love ya) but she has lots of medical knowledge and is always willing to give sound advice. As for the others, I have had no real interaction with them. Wasa has always been kind to me. This is just my opinion, but I had to speak up for her in this instance.

Letters you wish you could send.....

Dear Dad, It has been over 17 years since you passed away but I still think of you every day! I miss you so. Your strength, your love, your support, and your plain old common sense always helped me so much. You worked 60+ hours a week in a canning factory to support your family even after your health failed you kept working until you had to stop. Even though you had very little formal education, you were one of the smartest people that I have ever known. You knew the importance of honesty, kindness, and of being an honorable man. Many folks today do not know the value of these traits. You were not perfect but you alway figured out a way to get things done and you had your priorities straight. I wish you could have met your youngest grandson, he looks so much like you. He has your spunk and determination. I visit your grave often but I know that you are not there. I guess I just want to be close to you. Every holiday season, it seems like I miss you more! Merry Christmas, daddy. I love you!
  9. Green, my dear, you certainly have a way of cutting through the BS and getting to the point!:)That is just one of the reasons we love you!

    Petty yet annoying

When an 18 year old waitress/waiter does it while taking my order in a restaurant, it drives me freaking nuts!

Of course you should follow your doc's orders. I would ask my doctor if he requires any special diet preop. It is better to be safe than sorry. He could require no diet at all but he could have forgotten to mention it to you. It is always better to ask where your health is concerned.

Gmom- the liquid diet helps shrink your liver which makes the surgery easier and lessens the chance of complications. That is how they explained it to me. If the liver is too big then they cannot do the procedure laproscopically and will have to cut much bigger incisions or not do the operation at all. Goodluck.

Hi Cindy! It's nice to meet you. I am 6 months post op and it is an ongoing journey but I am so glad I chose the band. Goodluck!
  14. I much prefer lurking to posting although lately I have broken that rule (but am trying very hard to revert back to lurking). My hubby is 11 years older than me. I am a licensed nurse but have now chosen a different field entirely. I am a natural redhead.

    I-doser

Has anyone heard of or used this? I just heard about it this weekend. It is a series of sounds that you listen to on headphones. It induces certain "mock" experiences. There are ones for relaxation and energy. There are also some for anesthetic, marijuana, etc. A close friend of mine who is a college student tried the anesthetic one recently and it scared him to death. He is a very scientific and analytical person (math major with an emphasis in economics). He says this most definitely works. He wants to try the "out of body experience" one next. I did some research online and found out that this technique was developed in France. I would like your thoughts on this and your experiences if anyone has personally tried it. I-Doser: Binaural Brainwave Doses This is the official website but you can download it for free all over the web. What are your opinions on this?

    I-doser

I guess it is really important to listen through headphones because there is a right side- left side thing that is important in the experience.

Argon-do you find it all creepy or am I just weird? The fact that our minds can be manipulated by an outside source and all.......

    I-doser

No, I haven't tried it yet. I actually find it a wee bit scary. My friend said it scared him at first because it actually worked! It kind of freaks me out that my mood can actually be altered into a certain state by sound waves. I know music can change our mood. But to produce the effect of a drug, out of body experience, etc. seems a little creepy. I may try it. I haven't decided yet. I thought someone may have used it already or have heard about it.

Oh, I must not have my post very clear. Sorry. My FRIEND is the one who is very scientific and analytical. I have no idea who invented and is selling this. My friend used a FREE version that he downloaded off the web.

    New and Nervous

cblair6271- I agree that you should not waste any more time. Your boys are still small and you will be able to give them so much more of yourself when you get your weight under control. You also owe it to your boys to keep yourself safe. Please let the fact that the lapband is less dangerous play a factor in your decision. There is risk in any surgery but please be informed and evaluate the risk and chances of complications. The band is much less invasive and reversible. There are no malabsorption issues. It is also a tool that you will have to work WITH to lose weight. Goodluck in your journey!

    Help Needed-New to this!

Definitely begin researching doctors in your area. Get your name on some lists for seminars and go to the first one you can to get some info. You will be under no obligation just for attending an informational seminar. Call your insurance company and make sure you do not have an exclusion in your policy for weight loss surgery. If you do, that will throw a monkey wrench into the process. If you are a self-pay, it will speed up the process. If your insurance does cover surgery, there will be steps to follow. Some requirements may include psychological eval, nutritionist consult, and some insurance require a 6 month supervised diet. You will also need to involve your primary physician. They will be helpful in showing how long you have been obese and some of the problems it has caused you. They also will have records of any supervised diets or weight loss meds you have taken. I know it sounds like a lot to do but the results are worth it!

Do you think it's rude to correct another's grammar?

I totally agree. It is used in an argument online to insult the other person's intelligence.
