I have a date and a jealous husband!!!

I told my DH that I wanted to go out with him and have him proud to have me on his arm. Needless to say, he tells me that he is proud of me already (good answer). So now I tell him that I want him to be able to gloat because I am on HIS arm.
  2. Beside my DH, I have told my best friend and my boss. The only reason I told my boss is because I plan on taking time off work. I told him that I didn't want to tell anyone else at work. I have not even told my two sisters. Well, I did talk to my younger sister when I started thinking about WLS and she said, and I quote, "Don't tell me your that lazy that you can't lose weight without help", end quote. I was sooooooo angry with her after that, that when she calls, I have some excuse not to be there. I know my older sister would be supportive but I don't want to take a chance that my younger sister would find out. As for what I will tell people when they ask me how I'm doing it after I start losing weight and start looking sexy, I plan on saying "With a lot of hard work and excerise!!" And after reading this forum, that wouldn't be far from the truth.

    Anybody got tattoos??

My tat is also my avatar (very bad photo). It is a double headed phoenix. One is looking to my past with an almost sad expression, the other is looking to my future with an expectant expression. I saw something like it on-line and made some changes to it so it was just right for me. For years I told my DH that for our 10 year anniversary, I wanted the 10 year diamond band. About a month or so from said anniversary, I decided to get something that had more meaning. My DH and I met when I was 17 and he was 18. At that time we were both into things that I hope and pray my children never do:pray: . We were going to get married as soon as I turned 18 and on the wedding day we both wanted to get tattoo’s. Thank the Lord that we didn’t get married at that time. I believe that God separated us so that we both could grow up. When we got back together, we both realized that now we were ready to make a commitment for life. We were married on the 10 year anniversary of the week we met and when we got our tats had been married 10 years. Mine is still not done. I decided that I want to add the sun and moon over it to represent my son and daughter. I also had the sign for a female above my ummmmm..... "hoo-hoo", but it was blown apart by a stretch mark:cry so now it is just a circle and a plus sign. I also have a cross on my hip. My DH has and eagle ripping out of his arm with the flag behind it.

What does everyone do for a living?

I work for our game and parks at an aquarium. I do outdoor education. I work with our volunteer fishing instructors, firearm and bow instructors. I also maintain all the equipment that any of these instructors might need. I set up the hunter ed classes in our metro and sorrounding areas. We also have an aquatic ed program for teachers with I have to handle.

    Sleep Study

Like most people, I have obstructive apnea. This was explained to me as your throat closes or collapse while sleeping. C-pap stands for “Continuous Positive Airway Pressure”. My mask fits over my nose and “blows” air in it all night long, keeping my air way opened. Also, with the mask over my nose, it also makes it so I can’t mouth breath. It took some time for me to be able to even talk with it on. When you open you mouth with it on, the air just goes out your mouth. My DH loves my c-pap because I snored very loud before it.

    Can I Vent?

I was always told that "He will not give you anything that you can not handle". There was a time in my life that not only did I not want to hear that but also didn't believe it. Now I know that it's true. Always remember that if "He take you to it, He will lead you through it". I will be praying for you,

New Kid In Town - Costs

Mine is going to be around $17,500. I do have insurance so will only have to pay 20% of the surgery. I will have to pay 100% of fills and all the pre-op testing.

    Sleep Study

I've been using a c-pap for about 4 years. It has been great for the most part. To tell the truth, some nights I fight it. But I will not even take a nap without it. Not able to sleep without it. I was 180 when I first got it, now I'm 220 and all my old symptoms are back. I have already talked to my dr and he said with the weight gain, my apena might have gotten worse. He wants to do another sleep study. I have been putting this off hoping that after my band and my weight loss that the apena will get better. Just hope that I get a "go" date soon or I'm going to bite the bullet and go in for the study. I can still remember after I used my c-pap that first night, even though I was not used to it and had a little trouble falling asleep, the next day I was awake all day with no headaches. I was heaven.

    It makes me sad

Thank you Carlacollins!! I am still waiting for my band and will admit that after reading some post, I was getting nervous. I realize that everyone has a different experience but I sure hope that mine is as positive as yours. Or close to it. Thanks again,
  13. I just went in for a hair cut. When the woman put the black cape on me and looked in the mirror, what a shock! I knew I had a double chin, but that cape really brought it into focus. :cry Does anyone know of any facial exercises that could help? :help:

    Stress eatting or smoking

I wish I could say I was only a stress smoker, but I've been a pack a day smoker since I was 16 (now 39). My dr will only do surgery if you quit for 6 weeks. She said that she wasn't going to do anything and everything to get us healthy unless we were will do do it for ourselves. Don't have a surgery date yet, but my quit date is June 10, wish me luck.

    Fun Thread - Screen Names

I love this thread:becky:!! My screen name is simple. My DH is Mr Husker on most of his forums, sooooo..... Plus, we live in Nebraska. Tell ya a secret, the truth is I don't like the Huskers. :nervous My nick name growing up was bestowed on me by my older sister. She was, lets say envious of the fact that I, well, developed in fourth grade (34C), so she started everyone call me BOOBS. By sixth grade it became SUPER BOOBS (guess why?) MY stripper name - Porscha Keith, DH stripper name - Lady Woodward (OMG!! LMFAO!!) I really am trying not to laugh. DH is 6'2", 250 with a 48" chest and very broad shoulders. Just told him his stripper name, he's not too happy with it. Still LMFAO!!!

    My first NSV's

    Way to go!!
  23. Hi all, I am still in the insurance phase and hope to hear something soon. I started looking at WLS about 6 months ago. I was all set for the RY until I went to an information sessions which was a requirement to even be considered for surgery. Glad I went because that is where I found out about the lap band. Now, what I really want to know is if there is anything you could suggest I could or should be doing right now that will help me be prepared for after banding? I have done my research, both on the procedure and the surgeon. I have a copy of both the pre-op and post-op check list (thanks to everyone for their input on them), I even have some of the recipes. I am trying to eat slower and chew longer (not an easy task), I plan to start walking at least 30 min 3 times per week. I don't have McDonalds for Breakfast on my way to work, well not every morning:nervous . Is there anything else that will make the transition easier? Any input would be wonderful.

    Hello From Nebraska

The only thing I have done so far was on April 17, I went to a informational meeting where the doctor explained about the 3 procedures that they do. I went there knowing I wanted the RY. But after hearing about the LB and the doctor telling us that 1 in 200 people die with the RY, I decided that the LB was the one for me. I have all my paperwork filled out. So I can't move forward until I get my pre-auth from BC/BS done. I am trying to use this time as "training". I try not to drink when I eat, I take small bites and chew the blank-blank out of it. I have cut my diet pepsi back to 1 or less per day (was up to a six pack). I know what a cup of food looks like, but I always eat more . The waiting might be hard, but I am trying to put it to good use.

I am also one of the lucky ones. At first my DH was nervous about it. He thought that this was way to dangerous, (he was thing I wanted RY or DS) then he started reading some of my research on the LB and did research on his own, now my DH is behind me. So are my folks. I have olny told a few people and after hearing some discouraging (sp) comments, decided that I was going to limit who else found out. I refuse to defend myself to anyone on a this. This is for me. The only one who knows at work is my boss, and that is because of the time off work I am going to have to take.
