    Marchies In December

Well, I got my second fill on Monday, so now I am at a whopping 1.3 cc. I asked that I didn’t get too much, and I hope that this will "kick" in sometime soon. No weight loss since my last appt. Their scale is also 5.5 lbs heaver than mine. But I do weigh myself first thing in the morning and my appts are always after 1:00 in the afternoon. I have a bad head cold. I took Nyquil Monday night, big mistake. I couldn’t function on Tuesday and had to leave work and slept until 3:30. I used to take Nyquil before banding and didn’t have this problem, now it kicks my butt. I also used to love the Alka-seltzer cold but don’t know if I should use it now. My head is sooooo stuffy, my cheeks/eyes/ears/jaw hurts. I know it’s a sinus cold, but this is bad. I also keep getting hot then cold. This cold has also given me the worst cravings. I only want mashed potatoes and gravy and chocolate cereal. I did give in on the mashed potatoes but am holding out on the cereal. I hope this goes away soon because my girlfriend and her family will be here this weekend and I really need to clean my house. I also have to go with my son to Milford (about 1 hr away) and look at a college tomorrow.

    Multi Vitamins

I don’t know if they would have it where you are, but my doctor recommends Centrum Chewable. I doesn’t taste bad. Now my urologist doesn’t want me taking any calcium supplements because of my kidneys. I will have to talk to my lapband doc about that today when I go in for a fill.

    My unjury is here!!!!

I love the unjury strawberry sorbet. I put it in my Majic Bullet with ice and about 1/2 a banana. I also like Vitalady.com - Protein supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks!. They have alot of sample packets.

    Bowl Movement Post Op

I still have this problem and I am almost 9 months out. When I need it, I take MOM. The cherry flavor is pretty good. Works like a charm. I tried prunes, but they hurt going down.

    Marchies In December

I have a SHAPE and it isn’t ROUND!!!! I have my fill today so to work I didn’t wear my normal oversized work shirt, I put on a nice sweater. DAMN!! I look good. And I am not the only one that noticed. The two guys that work here (we only have two men and three women full time here) noticed it also. Both of them said "Looking Good". Now if that doesn’t just lift ones spirits, I don’t know what would. P.S. I am also in a 16!!! YES!!!! Can’t wait to get the last 52 lbs gone, I am going to be one smoking bitch!! Can you tell I am in a very good mood?

    Freeeezing..what does it mean?

My DH loves this side effect. I have never been one to cuddle at night because I am too hot, not I have to cuddle up with him just to stay warm at night. We also have a waterbed and have always fought over the heat setting (him 85-90, me 75 or lower) now it is set at 90 and he is one happy camper.

    Waking up during surgey

I have this problem. I have been awake during oral surgery, having my finger re-attached, a colonoscopy (sp) and my c-section. I talked to the anesthesialogist before surgery and explained my fears and they took great care of me.

    why did you choose

For al the reasons mentioned above.
  12. To make sure people understand that it is RNR, make it a bolder color and larger letters on the home screen. Even the Last Post should be bolder. I do like the idea of a screen that will pop up when you enter stating where you are and what its about and having to click an Enter button to go into it. This way people don’t go in if they don’t want to. I have made the mistake of just reading down the Last Post and saw something that looked interesting, not knowing what forum it was under. Maybe that is how people go to RNR by mistake. One last suggesting, make it the last forum on the home page. That might be the easiest.
  13. LMAO!!! Nanny Government strikes again!!!
  14. Holy Crap TammyJ, you are doing great. 20lbs to goal!!! You are the woman!! I have missed your post and am glad you are back. You have always been an inspiration.

    Spanking

Just another shining example of our Nanny Government at work. I have used my hand on both of my children’s butts or a swat on their hand when it was called for. Both of my children know that lying will get them a spanking. Tell me the truth and you will be punished for it, but lie, and you get both the punishment and the spanking. The line between abuse and discipline is not that fine. When a parent uses a spanking as a disciplinary measure, to teach the child that certain behavior will not be tolerated or that said behavior is dangerous to the child, that is called parenting. When someone, either in frustration or just to be evil, beats a child and leaves bruises, or worse, permeant injury or death, that’s abuse. These people need to have their children taken away and NEVER given back. I don’t believe that you should use anything other then your hand on your child bottom or hand, no belts, spoons or 2 x 4's. A parent knows when to step away and cool off. Parenting is frustrating at times, but in the end, it is also very rewarding.
  16. I just checked my bmi. In January I was 45.9, at surgery 43.5and today, drum roll.......36.7. Granted that is still obese, but I am out of the 40's. Yeah ME!!!!
  17. I started looking into it at 39, wanted to have it done before 40, missed that mark by 1 month. There is a thread for older bandsters, some of them are in their 60's. Does your friend have other health issues that might make the surgery more complicated?
  18. I can have soda once in a while. I let it sit and in the case of a mixed drink, I stir it with the straw. And I sip it, not chug it.
  19. My husband and I had a scare this week. It started Saturday with our 12 yo dd complaining about pain in her sternum. It wasn’t bad, but on Sunday she had trouble sleeping with it. I took her in to the doctor on Monday thinking that she was getting pneumonia again but the doctor said no and started talking about fluid around the heart. She sent my dd to Children’s Hospital for an EKG and a chest x-ray that day. That night she called and said the EKG was fine but the chest x-ray was inconclusive and wanted an ECHO done the next day, Tuesday. They said that they would have the results today. Well my dh just called me here at work, it sounded like he was crying when he said that the doctor just called. My knees about gave way, my stomach dropped out and I could feel the tears forming in the back of my eyes. Everything is fine with my dd, but my dsh (dip-shit husband) has a cold and his nose was stuffy, hence the reason he sounds like he was crying. I about went home and kicked his ass. Now on to the alcohol (which I need right now). I find that it depends on what I drink to how it is going to effect me. About 3 weeks ago I had a rum and coke and was pretty drunk after one drink, but last Friday it took 3 gin and 7's to get drunk. Also it only takes one glass of vine to make my legs go wobbly. Re-reading this sounds bad so let me clarify with I don’t normally drink, this just happens to be a good month for it. I also am on the fence about my next fill. I have 1cc and I don’t want to go to 1.5cc. Will they do less or is it a waste of time? I will find out on Monday. Well, since I am at work, maybe I should get some done. Now who’s the one that’s chatty?
  20. T-day was great. I didn't overeat like everyone else at my house and I was the only one that didn't take a nap. I got on my treadmill instead. I made 2 different cheese cakes and a key lime pie (which has 130 cals for 2 tbls) and I didn't eat any of it. My MIL made a pumpkin pie (210 cals for 1/8 of the pie) and I had a 1/16 slice and didn't finish it. I could have but decided not to. Pretty proud of myself on that one. I am getting a fill next week and I know I need it. My portion control is fine, I am just hungery all the time. I hope only to get a small one, .5 or less. I hope that helps. I got up this morning and since I didn't get the laundry done, I had to dig through my drawers to find a pair of jeans to wear. I found a size 16 and I got them on without having to suck in my gut. I also realized that in 3 lbs I will have lost 50 since Januray. WOW!!
  21. Way to go Dems!!!! Looks like you broke through you "stall" and have the ball rolling again. Kick but on your bmi also.
  22. Mrs Husker

    Time for pumpkin!!!!

I just tried this and my family loves it. Don’t remember what its called and can’t find it on sparkspeople again. 1 bx of ginger bread mix 4 bxs of sf butterscotch pudding 4 cups skim milk (for the pudding) 1 can pumpkin (can use the pumpkin pie one and omit the spices) 1 tsp of cinnamon ½ tsp ginger ½ tsp nutmeg ½ tsp allspice 1 tub low fat cool whip Make the ginger bread according to the package. Let cool and crumble into bite size pieces. Mix the pudding according to the directions. Fold in the pumpkin and spices. Layer in a bowl, cake then pudding mix then cool whip. My family thought it tasted even better the next day.
  23. Nice to see more people posting and seeing how everyone is doing. I was gone all weekend for a wedding (the wedding was beautiful, but the mother of the bride is a syco b*t*h, long, long story). I did really well and didn’t gain anything. I was 188 when I left on Friday and 188 today when I got back Sunday, and TOM started so maybe I lost a bit more hopefully. So now I am "lighter" then the day I got married 13 years ago (I was 189). YEAH!!! I don’t plan on updating my weight below until Dec 3 when I might go in for a fill, but still don’t think I need one. I will see what the doctor has to say. Thanksgiving, I plan on doing the cooking so I know what I’m going to have. A little bit of everything. Turkey, ham, rice stuffing, bread stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, black olives, deviled eggs and a bite of each pie. It will just be my DH and kids with my MIL and FIL, so everyone knows I was banded. I don’t plan on filling my plate, just a bite or two of everything. Then while everyone is in a turkey coma, I will get on my new/used treadmill (story below) and walk it off. When I went to the wedding I stayed at my GF house and she had a treadmill in her shed that she bought last year and she gave it to me. So I plan on setting it up next to my bed, I will need to move the dogs bed, that he never uses, and put my stair stepper there. I love to walk but will not do it when it is cold out, so now I don’t have any excuses. I plan on putting in a movie and just walking my way through it. I was thinking I would do 150 steps on the stepper and then walk. I love my stepper and didn’t use it last week at all. I used the excuse that I was too sore from work, but even though I was sore, I should have done it. Well, no more crying over missed exercises, just get off my butt and get it done. One last thing and I will end this long post. Am I the only one who went into this surgery knowing that it was going to be a slow process hoping that I would be the exception? You know what I mean. I knew what to expect and still thought that I would be the "Wonder Bander" losing all my weight in a short amount of time. I knew it wasn’t going to happen, but still hoped for it. I might try and do a poll on this one and see what everyone else thinks (if I can figure out how to do a poll)

    Thread For Hunters

What I love about hunting: I love bow hunting. I love sitting in my ground blind in the quiet of a Nebraska morning. Watching the wildlife go about in complete oblivion to the fact that I am there. I have had raccoons and squirrels climb on my ground blind and not notice me while I sat there and enjoyed their company in silence. I have had turkey go to roost in the trees above my head (yes, wild turkeys can fly) I have also lost a shot because I was too enthralled watching the deer walking across the field or path right in front of me not bothering to draw my bow. I will also let a shot go if it is a button buck or a doe with a small one with it. I also will not take a shot if it is outside my comfort zone. My bow is set at 45 lbs and I am accurate up to 20 yards. I used to hunt with a rifle, but after my first bow hunt, I was hooked and have not gone deer hunting with a rifle since. What I can’t stand about hunting: I have lost most of the land that I hunted because people are coming from out of state paying $5,000.00 and up to the land owners for the hunting rights. I could drive out west a find someplace, but with deer season being the busy season at work, I don’t get that much time. And any public land is so over crowded I wouldn’t want to take a chance. We have a lot of land owners around here who will come in and complain about the deer eating 20-40% or more of their crops, but when we (people who work for the game and parks and are certified bow hunter education instructors) offer to come and bow hunt does on their property, they don’t want us to. People who complain about the deer population being too high yet can’t seem to take anything that doesn’t have horns. These people will take a button buck over a doe. Give me a break. If you have an overabundance of deer, you need to take does. I have had guys come in to get deer permits and find out that the only permits left in their area are doe only and say “I’m not shooting a doe”. Like it will somehow make them less of a man and I was nuts to suggest such a thing. Rifle hunters who will take a poor shot (I have seen some very, very messed up deer) and the deer suffer. I had a guy come in this weekend with his son (it was his son’s first deer hunt). They boy took a nice buck, the dad a button buck. The son, who had just been through a firearm hunter safety course this summer, took his deer with one clean shot. His dad on the other hand shot at a running deer and took off its front leg. Then he had to “finish” the job with a shot to the head. While tagging their deer, I told the boy that I was proud of him for his clean shot and while tagging his dad’s deer said this is why you don’t shot at a running deer. I can’t stand to see an animal that was made to suffer because some jackass show off had to take a bad shot. Want waste. Our officers get called out because someone threw their deer carcass in a ditch. They caped (took the rack) and threw the rest away. Or the s.o.b. who shot a brace of geese and threw them all in the ditch. I believe that if you are going to shoot an animal, you eat the animal. If you don’t want or need it, there are organizations like Hunters for the Hungary that will be more than happy to take it. I have even learned to turn my deer skins into buckskin so that I can utilize more of the deer that I take. Granted I am not that good at it yet, but I haven’t given up. The people who think that everyone wants to see their dead deer hanging on that rack behind their SUV or in the bed of their truck with the tailgate down or gone. Not only do people not want to see a bloody deer, but now that they have had to drive out here to check their deer, it is full of dust and dirt. I complain to them that they need to carry a tarp to cover the deer or close the tail gate so people don’t see it. I know that my “can’t stand” list is long (a lot longer) then my like list, but I still love being able to go out and harvest a deer and bring it home to feed my family (we butcher our own deer). We even buy extra tags so we can harvest a deer for two of our neighbors who as strapped for cash and love the extra meat. I just wish that more people would think about what they are doing. They don’t seem to realize that by their actions they are turning more and more people off to hunting. I didn’t post this under Rants and Raves because I wanted to start a thread where those of use who do enjoy hunting can share our hunting stories. I love hearing about a person’s first hunt and so on. So if you have a story to share, please do. If you are against hunting, that is ok, but please don’t start an argument here. This is for those of us who enjoy the sport and share a reverence for the animals that we harvest. Thanks.
