    Lap Band causing irregular bleeding??

First of congratulations on your weight loss. Your gyno is an idiot. If I were you, I would get a new one. Preferably one who knows a little bit more about that band than her. (I know that will be hard to find) She obviously is confusing the band to gastric bypass. My doctor told me the same thing that the band wouldn't affect any of the pills I was taking, just to take them one at a time about 5 mins apart and with warm liquid. Good luck to you.
  2. Thank you Jachut!! I was really worried for her just because I know the doctor's stress not to get pregnant for at least the 1st year. I'll let her know what you said.

    In the beginning...

I probably should've started this blog at the very beginning of my journey but better late than never right? I guess I'll start from the beginning. Back in High school I wasn't very overweight. I actually looked pretty good now that I look at pics of myself. I wore between and 11-13 and weighed between 145 and 160. After graduation, I married a guy that I shouldn't have and I gained about 80 lbs. So then I was up to 240. After about 2 1/2 years of depression from an abusive relationship we finally seperated. I lost about 30 lbs and I was back into 12/13 and very happy because I met the real love of my life. We dated for about year and he proposed to me. We got married and he deployed to afghanistan 2 weeks later. During his deployment I gained the weight I lost back plus some bringing me to the grand total of 247 lbs. People when then look at me say I don't look that big b ut everyone knows when you actually carry this weight and see it on yourself its a whole different story. Naturally gaining all that weight made me more depressed which put strain on my marriage. I'm so lucky that even though my husband and I had fights to where I thought it was really over, he never gave up on me. He stuck by my side. I am truly blessed. I tried to work out and eat right but you know how that goes... your motivated you start that monday and by thursday your slacking again. I decided to get the band because a friend of mine had it and lost 60 lbs. Also my older sister decided to be banded with me. She was banded Dec. 5. Since being banded on February 16th as of yesterday I've lost 13.5 lbs. I figured out today if I lose 2 lbs a week minimum, I can lose about 66lbs by my birthday (oct. 5) leaving about 9 lbs to go to my goal. I know thats not counting the plateaus that seem inevitable. :cool2: I just really want to do well on this. The stories of people who lost huge are such and inspiration to me and then there are the stories of people who only lost a little and I know its mainly because they probably weren't doing what they were supposed to. I just don't want to mess this up. This was a huge decision I made and I want to be successful. I want to be happy again with myself. I owe to myself and my husband. I want him to have the confident woman he married back. He's been so good to me.Ok well I think thats enough for my first post. Keep in touch, I'll try to update at least once a week....or month...we'll see :wink2: Later Bandsters!

  5. My port is on my left side about four inches from my belly button. I'll be honest, I know I'm not getting all my protein like I should. Thats good they are being lenient on you at work. Have you had your post-op appointment yet?

  6. I'm actually on mushies now. Overcooked pasta and veggies, mashed potatoes no skin, vienna sauges. I'm doing fine reintroducing foods. I haven't had any nausea the whole time. The only problem I have right now is eating too fast. Trust me you will feel it if you do. It feels kinda like you really need to burp but you can't. Really bad pressure. I know you will do fine. Its good your having it so early in the morning. I'd rather had mine that way. I'll be thinking about ya tomorrow!

  7. Aww I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well. I started back on monday and it was ok. I kinda twisted the wrong way so the area where my port is really tender. Other than that it wasn't so bad. My doc told me if you have a more strenous job such as your's that you should wait at least 2 weeks before returning. I hope you feel better tomorrow.

  8. Hey girl are you ready??? I haven't from you for a while. Well I hope your doing good and just think tomorrow you will be in bandland!!! **Happy Dance**

  9. Have you gone back to work yet?

  10. Hey there! First off congratulations on your weight loss. I just wanted to know how long did it take for you to reach your goal and do you have any advice for a freshman bandster?

  11. NCsQueen

    EEEK! Tomorrow is the day!

Trust me I felt the same way the night before my surgery. It will all go away. Just try your best to relax. I know its easier said than done but in the end this will all be worth it. Good luck to you and God Bless
  12. Hey there! I saw in one of your posts that you lost over 185 lbs. I was wondering can you give some advice to a freshman bandster? I was recently banded last monday and I want to be just as successful. How long did it take you to get to your goal? And do you have pictures?

  13. Sure we can! Have you started your pre-op diet? How's it going?

I am the maid of honor please beleive me yall!

    i love your dress!!
  15. hey jessica well to answer your questions, i didn't keep my lapband a secret. I figure who cares?? you know? i'm doing something positive with my life and if people don't accept that then they can kiss my.... well you get the point. As for my scars I'm still just a week out so I can't tell you just yet how they look. I think if you really really want this you will lose the weight. You can't go into this thinking negative. You are your own worse enemy. My older sister is about your weight and she was banded in december. She lost 10lbs her first week to but by christmas she gained it back because she was eating things she shouldn't have. Well after her first fill she decided she won't do that again and has lost a total of 15 lbs from jan 5 to february 5. So I know you can do this and it will be hard but I know in the end it will all be worth it! Good luck and keep in touch!

  16. Well **happy dance** for you for your weight loss!! yay!! I just got back from my post-op appt and I've lost another 4.5 lbs according to their scale so that makes my total weight loss to 13.5 lbs. I like my mother-in-law's scale better lol. I found out I can eat pasta (overcooked) and mashed potatoes and soft veggies and fruits today. They took of my steristrips except for one. Its really stuck. I'm so excited about all of this. I hope ur doing good :)

    gas pain after surgery

I'll be honest, they didn't do anything for me. They say walking is supposed to help too....that was a little better but I still had really bad gas pains. The thing that helped the most for me was having my husband kinda tap on my back as if he were trying to burp me helped. Good luck and keep in touch!
  19. Hey Debbie just stopping through to see how you were doing. Hope all is well :)

  20. hey chica i see ur still having some trouble slowing down. I use a coffee straw right now. I started that about 2 days ago and thats helping me right now. Also as for my bandages, I was able to take off that plastic wrap without removing the steristrips. I have my post-op appt. tomorrow so I'll see what else my doc says. Also have you weighed yourself yet? I've lost another 10 lbs according to my mother in law's scale. 228 can you believe it! Well I talked to my older sister (she was banded 12/5) and she said she also lost 10 lbs her first week but gained it right back b/c she didn't feel any restriction before her first fill. So basically I gotta be real careful not to over eat until my first fill.

  21. Oh ok right after me. My surgery went very well now i'm just trying to get through my monthly gift from nature... i swear this is more painful than the surgery right now. I'm just all uncomfortable. How was yours?

    Any February 16th bandsters?

Good afternoon ladies! I just wanted to see how everyone is feeling. I was feeling a lot better until today. My delayed time of the month decided to visit me. I don't know what it is about this time but I'm in so much pain. I always have really bad cramps but this time is almost unbearable. I'm supposed to return to work tomorrow but I already told my hubby if it doesn't get better I'm not going. I hope everyone else is doing better.
  23. Hey thanks for the friend request! By the way you're gorgeous girl! When were u banded?

  24. Of course we can keep in touch :) thank you for the picture comment! So where are you from? by the way my name is Alcine :)
