ACoA's and "fixer mentality"
The best gift you can give yourself is counseling. I learned what my triggers was, how to deal with emotional eating, and what to do in place of eating. It saved me.

ACoA's and "fixer mentality"
That is part of the codependent nature of ACoA's.

It Bugs the Crap Out of Me When People do This!!
People have a need to talk about things that are bothering them. The forum is a way to vent those feelings as well it is a way to reach out. Sometimes having someone know what you are going through helps you from feeling alone. Communicating your hurts, victories, trials and all other feelings is a way to release and let go as well as reach out and receive support. We all need that.

Did you know that they will be doing a similar procedure with no incisions soon?
Quote "Also, I would worry more about stretching the pouch (like bypass folks can)" I watched a special where a surgeon showed how they can now repair a badly streched pouch endoscopically. They basically remove a section and pull it tighter, creating a smaller pouch.

Need advice--from band to bypass???
The best thing you can give yourself is a few months of counseling. You need to learn why you have the habits you do. You can learn to come to terms with it and make some healthy choices and create healthy habits. It you truely want to change the outside....you got to find out what is truely going on with you on the inside.

Dr. Supervised Diet?
Well either way I am just happy to be getting closer to having it done. I was just trying to figure out when my surgery would be becasue where I work, I am the only nurse and I have to get a temp to replace me. Sometimes it is hard to get a replacement. I appreciate all the help on here. This is a great place to get help and advice. You guys are great.

Anyone else from Southern Il?
I hope all goes great with getting your records transferred. I have to get mine transferred too. My next appt is Feb 5 in Herrin. What insurance company do you have? I am hoping I only have to do 6 consecutive visits (what my insurance people said) so that would put me at March with being done with my supv. diet. If I have to do 6 full months then it is 7 visits and that puts me in April. I know the time passes by quickly, but I like others cant wait to get this done. Let me know how things are going with you. You can email me at michelecotton@verizon.net. I don't have anyone else that I know that has done the band. I do know 4-5 that have had the RNY. Are you anywhere close to me?

insurance requires 6 month diet what is this?
I started therapy around 7 months ago (still go) and I have 2 months left to complete on my supv.diet. Wow...did I learn a lot about myself and my wt. I would reccomend it for anyone with a eating disorder.

Dr. Supervised Diet?
I called my insurance office and asked them if it was 6 or 7 visits. They told me..." all we require are 6 consecutive monthly visits. Your primary doctor will submit a predetermination letter that states you have completed a 6 month supervised diet along with his office notes and that all requirements have been completed." So I am hoping I can get my band in March vs. April

He will only be in Paducah 1 day a week. That is what he told me last Monday. I will see him in Herrin Feb. 5th. The bariatric program directors name is Heather and she is super nice. Just give them a call. This is cool. There are others in So. IL too. How far are you into getting your band?

Question for BCBS of IL banders
I dont mean to ask so many questions, but I have been told that most often your first visit with your PCP is day 0 and then you have 6 consecutive visits after that. My first visit was Oct 13th. Would I still have 6 after that? I didnt know how to guestimate time at the end of March or the end of April. My boss is wanting to know when to start seeking a temp for me. Thank you all so much

Question for BCBS of IL banders
Thank you for the responses. I have a PPO. Do you have a PPO or HMO? Did you have to do 6 or 7 visits with your PCP? I appreciate all the help. I am just wanting to prepare for time off and things for surgery.

How long did it take to get your approval after all your paperwork was submitted?

6 month weight loss BCBS
I have bcbs of Il and your first appt. is considered day 0. You have to have 7 appts. You better not miss a month either or you will have to start all over again.

Please talk some sense into me!
I am very sorry to hear about your mom. My prayers are with you. Talk to your dr. and let him know what is going on. He is part of your support. Continue to love yourself and take care of yourself(emotionally and physically).

Anyone else from Southern Il?
Wow...we have a lot in common. Yes you are right...It is Herrin and not Marion. I don't know why I was saying Marion. I had all my tests done at Herrin. I had to have the EGD at Lourdes medical complex next to the hospital though. I just had it done last Friday. That was the last of my tests that had to be done. Yes he does order a lot of tests, but as a nurse I can see some of the reasonings why they are ordered. Are you going to have the vena cava filter placed? I am. He will put it in 3 days prior to surgery. I worked with enough surgeons to know what happens with clots. Scares the crap out of me. My first PCP appt. Was Oct. 13th and as you know Dr. Argotte says "that is day 0 of your 6 months." I figured the 13th of April will be my 6 month finally for my diet. If there are no problems with my insurance(...so far everything is according to insurance reqs) Dr. Argotte said it usuallly takes a week for the approval and then I can have my band the following week. So I guess the end of April or the beginning of May. I live in Ava. My husband is actually doing some contract work at Sesser right now. We are so close to one another. When is your next appt? Mine is Monday at 2:15 for my EGD follow up. What are your stats? What insurance do you have/ I am sorry...I am just excited to know someone else going through this. I have friends of have done the RNY, but no one for the band. Here is my email addy. michelecotton@verizon.net Talk to you soon. Michele
