  1. I am from Southern Il and I am hoping to meet others in my area that are getting or have the band. I would love to talk to anyone as well. I am 3 months into my diet with the Dr. and have had all my tests done. I am hoping and praying all goes smoothly with the process. Michele
  2. I would do it again. It has now been a year since my band. I feel so much better. I have more to lose, but I know I am going to get there. 1. Get involved in a support group and stay involved. I started, but do to my scheduling I couldn't continue. You get so much support from your bariatric community. They care about you and want to see you succeed and will help you to get to goal. 2. Get counseling right away. I started counseling when I started thinking about surgery. I learned a lot about my behaviors. Having the band does not make those feelings for eating go away. Counseling gave me the tools I needed for my emotional eating. 3. You still have to exercise. Even if you only walk 30 min. a day 5 days a week...every bit helps. If you exercise, you will be less likely to get too far off track. 4. DON'T FORGET....THE BAND IS ONLY A TOOL! NOT A CURE. Good luck and best wishes. :scared2:

    Mexican food?

I love the pollo local...the chicken is so moist. I do well with the beans and the rice. I eat my limit and take the rest home to enjoy later.
  5. Hi...How are you? You are not being nosey. It is a small world. I still work for START. Who is your mom?

  6. Dr. Argotte left the Paducah area.
  7. Well...Dr. Argotte is actually thinking about reopening a part time practice in Paducah again. He told us if he did, it would be the middle of August when he does. Right now I go in Herrin Illinois.

So... got some work to do.

That is fabulous. How proud you must feel. You sure motivated me to try harder. Way to go!!!
  9. We all will lose at different rates. The focus is.... we ARE losing.
  10. Drink a hot liquid to help it pass through.
  11. I understand all the hunger. I still stick to the 2 oz. at meal time. I am just afraid of screwing my surgery up. I drink constantly to keep the hunger away. I drink my protien drinks to help. Sugar free pops and jello help a lot too.

    Just Banded with the Blues

I was banded on 4/26. I too felt the blues. My physical recovery has been great. Port area is still very sore. Allow yourself time to heal emotionally and physically. This is very common post op. Take baby steps. Nurture yourself and most of all ...... LOVE yourself. Michele
  13. Those of you who have BCBSIL, how long did it take to get an answer from the time you submitted your paperwork? I know they have 30 days to decide, but I was curious how long it took for the rest of you?

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Thanks....I am first on the schedule tomorrow. I will be glad when it is done. Best of luck to my fellow 22nd bandies. My prayers are with you all.
  15. I am so hungry. Clear liquid diets suck. I am doing all kinds of things to keep preoccupied. I read the posts to stay focused on my diet. Thank the Lord only one more day until surgery. then clear liquids again.

Thanks for the encouragement. It helps when you have people to talk to that understand your pain. I think my dog was getting worried too....lol

Spent weekend in hospital with blood clot

I am glad you are ok. My doctor highly recomends the IVC filter (which I just had done) to catch clots. I am having my surgery wednesday and I will have to do 20 days of lovenox injections. We have to keep the filter in for 2 months. When he removes it he will check for any clots. If he sees any then we have to do coumadin for 6 months.
  18. Its an IVC filter that goes up your femoral vein into the superior vena cava (abdominal vein) to catch clots post op. You keep it in for 2 months. My surgeon highly recomends it.
  19. Wow...there are more than a few of us getting banded on the 22nd. I have been on clear liquids now for 5 days. I am hungry. I had my filter placed last thursday and I am still sore in my groin. Well....I just wanted to say Hi!
  20. Now that my 6 month diet is over, everything is happening fast. Paper work was submitted on Monday 4/6. I was approved on 4/10. My surgery was scheduled for 4/27, but now they moved it up to 4/22. I go in today for my IVC filter placement. Tomorrow is meeting with the hospital for all my preop labs, meet with the anesthesiologist and the head nurse of bariatrics. Tuesday I meet with my surgeon, sign consent forms and pay my part. Wednesday is surgery....yipppeee I just hope one week of liquid dieting is good enough for my liver. I have been keeping low carb for a couple of months except for the week of Easter (kinda let loose).

    Bunnie Recipes

I had made some veg beef soup. I made extra broth for the thin liq stage and froze that. After my family was done with the soup, I took what was left and blended it and froze that too.
