  1. Truly Awesome!!! I look soooo forward to getting my band this spring. I am sooo tired of not living because I am too busy hiding behind my wt. and feeling ashamed. I really needed to hear your story. God Bless
  2. I think that is a great idea. I think I will do the same. I wont be able to get my band until April or possible May. Good Luck!
  3. Fantastic! Someone else from So. IL. I am going to Dr. Alex Argotte in Paducah KY. It is the same distance there as it is to St. Louis. A lot less traffic and hassle getting to the clinic and hospital. I live near Carbondale. My surgeon is suppose to start doing surgeries in Marion starting this month. I wont have to drive down to Paducah to see him then. I do like the drive to Paducah though. I like Lourdes Hospital too. He has a really nice surgery suite set up there. He comes highly recommended. How about you? Where are you? Who is your surgeon? Thanks for replying. I look forward to hearing from you. Michele
  4. Thank you so much. I am 3 months into my 6 months supervised diet with my doctor requirements. I have had all my requirements met. My only fear is that the insurance for some stupid reason will reject my claim. When I start worring... I think of Phillipians 4;6. That little verse gets me through a lot. God Bless and yes I would love to be one of your supporters and go through this together.
  5. I am new too. I am 130 lbs over wt. I am looking forward to my banding. It takes great courage to make changes that will require hard work. Remember one thing...you are worth the effort.
  6. As I was reading all the posts on this thread, I was thinking to myself how mean, hurtful, thoughtless and idiotic people are. I get upset with people when they say hurtful things about other people. I too have been subjected to the onslaught of hurtful words. 1. I can remember when I was in my late 20s and my son was little, he came home from school very upset. I asked him what was wrong and he became tearful because some kids at school told him "your momma's so fat...she could sit on a rainbow and make skittles pour out." I was hurt for him. That lead me to work hard and lose wt. I managed to lose 70lbs and got down to a size 14. Over time I managed to yo yo it back on again. 2. My own husband stopped having sex with me because of my wt. I kept asking what was the problem and he said "your just not sexy". I was crushed :wink2:. I wasn't that much bigger than when we got married. Needless to say we got into counseling before I divorced him. It hurt a lot when he told me that. He told our counsler he didn't know how else to say it. It may have been the truth for him, but it still hurts. I am going to individual counseling to learn that what I am doing is for me and no one else but me that and to heal some of the pain I have been carrying around with me along with this wt.

  9. That's fantastic! I am jealous. I have to do the 6 month diet. I hope all works great for you. Keep posting.
  10. Hi Beth I too am new here. I was reading about your hiatal hernia ordeal. I just had the last of my tests (EGD) done for my banding. I found out that I too have a hiatal hernia. My surgeon told me he would fix mine when he put my band on. I suffer from reflulx real bad too. I am 3 months into my 6 month required supervised diet. Our stories are a lil similar. I would love to make new friends. Would love to keep chatting. Michele
  11. I live in southern Il but I am having my surgery with Dr. Argotte. He is really nice. I am 3 months into my supervised diet with my dr. I have done all of my required tests that Dr. Argotte has asked for. Now it is a wait game. Have you went to his siminar yet?
  12. I am from Southern Il and I am hoping to meet others in my area that are getting or have the band. I would love to talk to anyone as well. I am 3 months into my diet with the Dr. and have had all my tests done. I am hoping and praying all goes smoothly with the process. Michele

  14. I just wanted to say hi. I am 3 months into my 6 month requirements for banding. I have had all my tests done with my doctor. Just putting my time in now. I have been doing a lot of reading on this site. I am impressed with all the help and support that goes on here. I don't know anyone with the band. I have family and friends who have had the RNY though. I am looking forward to meeting new people and hopefully making some new friends. Michele current wt. 286
