  1. Hi 11/18 banders! I'm feeling better everyday. I've been increasing my time on the treadmill...am now up to 40 minutes. I began mushie stage Tuesday evening. I can home and ate 1/2 lf cottage cheese.< /span>

I spoke to the nutrisionist on Thursday because I just can't stand the smell of the shakes. She said as long as I'm getting 50g of Protein via food, I'm ok.

I bought a Bullet before surgery. Best thing I ever bought. I've "mushed" chicken with broth, and even hamburger w/broth. It was heaven. Didn't look like much but sure tasted great. I'm down 20.5 and am happy with that.

Is anyone taking Urso Forte? My surgeon gave me a script for 6months. Something to do with my gallbladder. They are horse pills....have to crush them and put in apples sauce or pudding...very nasty.

Good luck everyone....we should try to keep in touch.

How are you doing now at your 1 year ann?

  2. Anyone had any problems using VA Hosp. Insurance to pay for LapBand:confused:???

I have Fed BCBS got approval in 3 weeks however I have 2 health issues only had BMI of 35 but I was 61 when I had surgery. I know they felt they would save money by me having the surgery. My health was going down hill. Nov 17th is my 1 yr ann. lost 40 lbs need to loose more but I am very happy with LBS feel great off most of my meds. Best wishes on getting approval

  4. Help! I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet, which is Optifast liquid diet. I am SO hungry! Any advice for fighting the hunger monster? My surgeon's office says to stick to the liquid diet only and to drink more shakes if I am still hungry. I live with my husband and two teenage kids. My husband is doing the liquid diet with me for support (:frown:) and my kids are fending for themselves. I do okay until I smell the food they are making! I work at home and my office is about 5 feet from the kitchen! :cursing: It's going to be a long journey! But I am hanging in there...just wanted some advice or pep talk!

    You guys are awesome! :frown:

I am sorry to hear you are so hungry. My doctor put me on liquids but I could have Soup, yogert and lots of different liquids so I could get some flavor. Hang in there it will be worth it. Maybe you could go for a walk while your family is cooking. I only have my husband but it did not bother me to watch him eat I just kept thinking I waited for 8 months to get my surgery date and I wanted it so bad. I lost almost 10 lbs before the surgery so it was worth it. Hang in there.

  5. I got my approval today!!! No out of pocket cost for me. I can hardly believe it. I will have a March surgery date. I going to start my pre-op diet tomorrow, just in case I can get in on a cancellation. I might be one of the few people that likes Protein Shakes. I am soooo Happy I can barley sit still to write this.

    Anya:thumbup:

Congratulations. I am so happy for you. It is as exciting journey. I am 3 months out and very happy I did this. Let us know when your date is.

  6. Good morning, and thanks for your support! I haven't tried just swallowing the pills - guess I'm afraid they'll get stuck. I do chew the chocolate or caramel Viactiv with Calcium, yum. My doctor has me on Vit. D & B12 (but they are BIG pills!) and I take Biotin to (hopefully) prevent further hair loss, since my hair has been falling out in handfuls since the surgery.

JoannMarie - thanks for the tips about costco, there's a new one near me and I will definitely take a look there.

    Thanks for your help!

Need to ask. did you have lap ban or gastric by pass. You seem to be having symptoms of gastrc by pass surgery. There are no malabsorbtion issues with lap ban. At least I don't think so.

  7. I just had my second fill and it is helping. I don't think from what I read that the weight for anyone is coming off fast but it is coming off. I had my appt later than last week because my doctor is so busy. I called and asked if they had a cancelation and got in a week early. If I were you I would call and beg for an appt so you won't get discouraged. Or just maintain you weight until you get your fill. Any weight loss is victory. Don't give up on your ban you have come too far.

  8. I am due for my second fill and didn't receive any numbing agent for the first one so I am just wondering how many of you get something to numb you first. I called the nurse today and she said they don't promote it - whatever that means (I guess it means no, never). I'm going to try to post this with a poll but I'm not sure how to do it. So it may not work.

I did not have it with my first fill with my surgeon but did have it with the PA for my second fill. I needed it for that it was more painful than the first I am not sure if it is because my surgeon has more experience or not.

  9. I confess I had to gain 3 lbs to qualify. I did have the health issues that were needed and I wore my heaviest out fit and considered putting a role of quarters in my pocket. My scale at home is acutally higher than the doctors and I was worried. The doctors office told me that they would go by the weight on my first weigh in so it is OK to loose weight before surgery and my doctor expected me too. I was able to loose almost 10 lbs before surgery. Good luck getting approved

  10. My seminar also leaned toward by pass. I think the reason was money and insurance coverage. In our area most insurance co are not covering lap ban currently and medical aid will not cover lap ban at least I think that is the case currently. I was fortunate that my insurance co did cover lap ban. I was looking for by pass but my surgeon recommeded lap ban because of my BMI.I am very gald I had lap ban and was especially thankful when I woke up from my surgery.

  11. When i started reading what you posted I thought it was my post. I had the same problem throught the holiday gaining and loosing but I OK now. I think you need to trust that the ban will help eventually. My doctor fills slowly and I think that's OK maybe we won't have as many problems if out doctors fill slowly. Yesterday the doctor said as she gave me my first fill that now she is just beginning the process that eventually will make me feel ful. We need to be patient. I have having the same problem with waiting as you are. Lets keep supporting each other. Don't worry about what they will say tomorrow remember they are all on your team and want to help you be sucessful. I wish you well tomorrow. It went real well fo me no pain at all.
