  1. How are you doing now at your 1 year ann?
  2. I have Fed BCBS got approval in 3 weeks however I have 2 health issues only had BMI of 35 but I was 61 when I had surgery. I know they felt they would save money by me having the surgery. My health was going down hill. Nov 17th is my 1 yr ann. lost 40 lbs need to loose more but I am very happy with LBS feel great off most of my meds. Best wishes on getting approval
  3. I am sorry to hear you are so hungry. My doctor put me on liquids but I could have soup, yogert and lots of different liquids so I could get some flavor. Hang in there it will be worth it. Maybe you could go for a walk while your family is cooking. I only have my husband but it did not bother me to watch him eat I just kept thinking I waited for 8 months to get my surgery date and I wanted it so bad. I lost almost 10 lbs before the surgery so it was worth it. Hang in there.
  4. Congratulations. I am so happy for you. It is as exciting journey. I am 3 months out and very happy I did this. Let us know when your date is.
  5. They did have to poke around usually I don't mind a needle but the numbing agent did help again it might be because I had a PA instead of the surgeon.
  6. I did not have it with my first fill with my surgeon but did have it with the PA for my second fill. I needed it for that it was more painful than the first I am not sure if it is because my surgeon has more experience or not.
  7. I confess I had to gain 3 lbs to qualify. I did have the health issues that were needed and I wore my heaviest out fit and considered putting a role of quarters in my pocket. My scale at home is acutally higher than the doctors and I was worried. The doctors office told me that they would go by the weight on my first weigh in so it is OK to loose weight before surgery and my doctor expected me too. I was able to loose almost 10 lbs before surgery. Good luck getting approved
  8. My seminar also leaned toward by pass. I think the reason was money and insurance coverage. In our area most insurance co are not covering lap ban currently and medical aid will not cover lap ban at least I think that is the case currently. I was fortunate that my insurance co did cover lap ban. I was looking for by pass but my surgeon recommeded lap ban because of my BMI.I am very gald I had lap ban and was especially thankful when I woke up from my surgery.
  9. When i started reading what you posted I thought it was my post. I had the same problem throught the holiday gaining and loosing but I OK now. I think you need to trust that the ban will help eventually. My doctor fills slowly and I think that's OK maybe we won't have as many problems if out doctors fill slowly. Yesterday the doctor said as she gave me my first fill that now she is just beginning the process that eventually will make me feel ful. We need to be patient. I have having the same problem with waiting as you are. Lets keep supporting each other. Don't worry about what they will say tomorrow remember they are all on your team and want to help you be sucessful. I wish you well tomorrow. It went real well fo me no pain at all.
  10. This is off the subject but where did you get you banner and flag. I am also a Noverber 2008 bander and I am so thankful to have it.
  11. I am glad things went well for you. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS PROCESS GOING ON AND LOOSING MORE WEIGHT. How about you?
  12. I had my first fill today no numbing agent and no pain. I am so grateful to have my ban.
  13. I had GERD before surgery and my surgeon took me off my meds after surgery and so far no GERD.
  14. I had my 1st fill today everything went great. My weight in went well also I have lost 20% of my excess weight. Next fill 2/13/09. I am starting to understand the process now and hope I will be more patient with myself. How did it go for the others that were getting filled today?
  15. I wish I knew the answer to your question. I could make a lot of money. I know for me it is some of both. Yes I took eat to medicate. I am trying to find out what pain I am trying to stop. I am trying to face the fact that the emotional pain will never stop and I need to learn not to eat to make me feel better. I have a few things that I am working on.
  16. I have been on anti depressants for years and sometimes I still feel depressed. One of the reasons I think most of us are hear is due to mental health issues. I am seeing behavioral counselor and this has helped but I have a long way to go in finding out what is causing me to over eat.
  17. Thanks for your response. How much weight have you lost? Do you now feel full when you eat?
  18. I hope to get my first fill tomorrow also. I got for my 6 week check up. I have had a lot of medical problems so This is easier for me to face. I hope you do well and it goes quickly for you. I will check tomorrow to see how it went for you. Do you know any other November banders
  19. When did you get banded? Another thought we were told it would be hard but I knew I would not know how hard until after the surgery. We all have some things in common and some things are not. Again this site has been so encouraging to me. How about you?
  20. This will be my first fill. banded 11/17/09 Thanks for your encouragement. As far as your feeling depressed did you every think it might be because you just had major surgery and is not related to your being hungey. Don't be so hard on your self. From what I am reading on this site it take time to loose weight and to feel full. But it looks to me that many have been sucessful. I know I am desperate to loose the weight also and I think it wil be slower than we expect.
  21. I am back to my pre Christmas weight. I go for my 6 week check up tomorrow. I hope I get a fill and I am looking forward to my weight in. My scale at home is about 4 lbs higher than the doctors. They are also going by my weight the day of surgery which was lower than when I started the program. Is that what they did for you.
  22. I am so sorry to hear about your grand mother. I hope your memories will be comforting to you. I am also sorry to hear about your differcult process with WLS. I hope you will find a way to work this out. I don't have any information for you but I will keep an eye out for your progress.
  23. How are doing doing since your surgery? I had my surgery done at EMMC in Bangor. I go for my 6 week check up on Tuesday and hope to have a fill. The last 2 weeks I have not lost any weight. Give us an update.
  24. I was doing really well up until Christmas. Now i am struggling to get back on track. I think my goals are set to high and I should be happier where I am right now. I am very greatful for this we site and to have people to share with.
  25. Thanks for your words of encouragement but I am struggling not to put weight back on. I am thinking about food all the time now and not feeling full at all. I hope I get a fill on Tuesday or I think I will gain weight. My will power is not helping right now.
