    Our 1 Year Bandiversaries

Sorry about the job situation. Your weight loss is an inspiration. It seems that you have found a nice balance of exercise and diet to make it work. I do think that once I begin exercising more my diet will be easier. My DH wants to lose about 30 pounds so we are going to start of the new year right. I hope to be "shopping" for a new wardrobe soon!

    Our 1 Year Bandiversaries

I will have my one year bandiversary on 12/18. I have only lost 25 pounds. I have not really felt any restriction, but my doctor has been very stingy with the fills. I think I am now around 5cc in a 10cc band. This past fill I am finally finding some restriction and have begun to lose more weight. I am looking at it as losing 25 pounds is better than gaining 25! I have asked "Santa" for the Wii for Christmas so I am going to make 2010 a good year for excercise and weight loss. I hope to post on my second baniversary that I have lost close to 100 pounds. Good luck everyone and Happy Holidays!

    OMG Insurance!

I thought I was the only one in Insurance Hell! I was given an authorization number for my surgery in December and have since been receiving bills because Humana has denied the claim. Humana states that weight loss surgery was not a covered expense even though there was an obesity rider and they authorized it. After about 20 very long calls to everyone at Humana (customer service, managers, appeals department, etc.) I went to the HR department at my husbands work and explained the situation to them. They got the Humana agent for his company (he works for a City) involved and I have had several conversations with her. I even stated that I would get an attorney if needed, but I was not paying. Through all this, I had the hospital collections department and my surgeons office calling for payment. Bottom line the claim is being paid and the reason it was denied is because they changed systems and the riders did not carry over on the policies??????? A bunch of crap as far as I am concerned - I think they just deny the claims hoping people will give up and pay so they don't have to!! DO NOT give up. Keep fighting and get as many people as you can involved. Speak with the agent in charge of your policy and make sure that you document and have copies of everything!! I was also told not to pay a dime because then you were admitting that you were responsible for the payment. (I'm not sure it that is true but I wasn't taking any chances in having to pay a $14,000 bill!!). Good luck and let us know how it works out.

    December Bandsters

I was banded on Dec 18th and have been having a sweet AND salty tooth. I eat chips and sweets (Ice cream is my sweet of choice this week). I buy the sugar free and baked items so it isn't as bad, but I can't wait for the hunger and cravings to go away. I have had two fills (3.5 in a 10cc band) and go back May 5th for my next one(can't wait). It is a slow process, but I am sticking it out. I have read from the boards that the band does work, it just takes a while and several fills.

    I have to confess....

OMG, I am sooo relieved to read this post! I have been lurking on the boards lately feeling really guilty about binging. I was banded on December 18 and have had two fills. My doctor goes slow, I have about 3.5cc in a 10cc band and I am still able to eat alot of food (not as much as before, but much more than I thought would be possible). I am glad to read that there is a point when you feel restriction and cannot binge. I have never PB'ed but have had pain in my chest and unbelievable burping (my 14 year old son was jealous!). I scheduled my next fill (I'm allowed to go every 6 weeks) and will keep scheduling them until my binging stops. I understand that there is a responsiblity on my part to watch what and how much I am eating, but I got the band so that it would help me know the limits. I have lost 30 pounds and gained back 3 recently and am really disgusted with myself. Once I get the "boot" off my broken foot next week I am going to get back to walking and excercising so hopefully that will help my appetite!

    Confession time...

I hear ya! I was banded in December and have not noticed any restriction at all. I have had two fills but my doctor says he goes slow so I only have 3cc in a 10cc band. I have lost 30 pounds but am eating way to much in my opinion (not to mention all the wrong foods). The only thing holding me back from eating like I used to is the fear of PBing. I have never done it but from what I have read on the boards it is not pleasant. I have an appointment with a nutrionist tomorrow so hopefully she will get me back on track.
  10. I am in the same situation, I was banded on 12/18 and am able to eat way too much. At first I was eating just a cup of food but then I slowly found that I could eat more and more. I guess I don't know the "full" feeling yet becasue I have always eaten to "stuffed". I have had one fill but honestly have felt no difference. I am going for a fill on 2/17 and am hoping for some restriction to control myself!

    What is your Age/Date/Weight/Location?

Hi, Im 42, banded on 12/18/08 by Dr. Choi in Miramar, FL. Weight before banding 252. Goal weight 140.
  12. I was banded on 12/18 and am still having pain on my right side by the incision. I am assuming that this is my port. Does this go away soon? My doctor only prescribed percocet and I am trying to only take them at night. I am trying to get in all my liquids but it is hard because they give me gas and that causes all kinds of pain. I'm worried about being hungry. I have read that by day 10 you get really hungry and I am not looking forward to that at all!
