    Thirtysomething's

Hi all, I am Jessica and live in San Jose, CA. Born in San Francisco and lived here in CA all my life cause I love it(well except for the cost of housing)! I am still a newlywed since I got married last October and I have two furkids, Rocky and Dakota and one step skinkid, boy age 10. Banded in Monterrey Mexico on 5/19/06 andhave lost about 13 lbs so far. I feel like I am doing pretty well with my eating but I haven't really been counting up the protein. I only eat foods I am supposed to, but didn't lose any weight this week. Better to stay the same than gain!!

Are you sure none of you are feeling...

Hi all, I have read (on these groups/threads) that we do not feel restriction until after the first fill. Now, I know that I am not very hungry right now and I was banded 3 weeks ago today. Am I not hungry because my body is still healing and the surgery trauma around my stomach makes me feel full, also making some people PB or slime? We have created a pouch, put a band around our stomachs and that has to have something to do with how much we can and can't eat and how quickly we get full even without a fill, right? I truly did my research before being banded and right now, as my first fill is looming in the not-too-distant future, I feel like I don't know anything! I guess research can't tell you what a fill actually feels like!

Hi, End of my third week post op so I weighed today. No weight lost this week. I am still on the losing side and didn't gain so I'm still happy. I need to implement more excercise but have had pain on my port side in the evenings which makes me uncomfortable in varying degrees. The days I try to power through it and walk anyway I seem to pay for it the next morning. i know I am still healing so I am not giving myself too much grief about it.

What Foods did you have to give up?

Thanks Kristin, I looked it up (since I have Tivo and never watch commercials) and it is called Fiber-Sure. I will go get some tomorrow. The Trisciuts are great snack and I get full from about 4 of them. Jessica

What Foods did you have to give up?

Thanks Kristin! I don't have any trouble with a couple of saltines, but I am hoping for a little more fiber. I have read some Bandsters who post about eating crackers with tuna or other such soft foods.' I remember your post about the croutons! My husband and I went out to lunch this weekend and he had Chicken Ceaser Salad and I acutally thought of you while I avoided the croutons. Ihad a couple of small bites of chicken, lettuce, parmesean which worked out fine. I am really hoping I won't have a problem with lettuce since I love a good salad. Jessica

Hello fellow May Bandsters, Is anyone eating crackers? I have read posts about "whole wheat or whole grain" crackers but I am wondering if Triscuits are okay? Has anyone had success or trouble with a particular brand of cracker? Thanks Jessica

What Foods did you have to give up?

Hi all, I know we can eat crackers and I often read "whole wheat" is this a triscuit type cracker or something else? I am trying to get in all my fiber so I'm thinking a Triscuit would really help but I'm not sure if that cracker will cause a problem. Please give any cracker recommendations you have or even list any problem crackers. thanks!

What Foods did you have to give up?

Kristin, I have not exercised at all yet. I gave myself 2 weeks to heal then I will start with the walking again and build up to going back to Curves. When were you banded? I also read your post about sushi. I hope I don't have any problem either because I love it! I could eat it 3 times a week and be so happy. Of course, if I go 3 times a week now I will only be able to eat what I would have eaten in 1 visit! Luckily we always go to our favorite sushi place where they start making our usual when they see us walk in the door. They will make anything any way I want it, so if it is a problem I'm sure I can work around it

What Foods did you have to give up?

Hi all, I am amazed at how many newly banded people move on from liquids to foods quickly. My surgeon told me that I should follow the liquid diet for 2 weeks then move on to mushies for the next 2 weeks. He said that this allows the stomach to heal completely and could possibly lead to me needing less fills in the future. I have skipped a couple of days ahead during dinner time by eating mushies the last 2 nights but other than that have stayed with the liquid. My nutrionist told me the same thing the surgeon did. I would be interested to know why the differing information about the stages of food to take in.

What Foods did you have to give up?

Hi all, I am just one week banded and wonder if anyone has had trouble with cheese once they have moved into the "real food" phase. I love cheese and would absolutely hate if I had to give it up!

    Mushies Stage Recipes

Thanks for the Cheesecake pudding recipe. I was already on the hummus because in addition to protein it has a good amount of fiber. Looking foward to the Cheescake Pudding now too!

Hi all, I was banded 5/19 and all went well until I had to travel home. I had gone alone and traveling back to CA from MX through Dallas is just about the worst trip I can imagine. I am planning on going back down for my first fill under fluoro in about 5 weeks so I guess I better start imagining! I was surprised at the pain I have had. Port pain and chest pain like I have a hard time breathing. Sharp pain at times when I breathe in. Am told this is all normal but from other posts I have read it was all rosy glow and no pain at all. Anyway, I am 1 week out now and feeling a little better. I went back to work on Tuesday and finally felt productive yesterday. I got on the scale today and have lost 8 lbs. I know that there is a possibility that I could gain weight but hopefully I won't.:cake: I have more more week of liquids to go so if anyone is an early May bandster & wants to give any ideas for the mushie stage please post back! I'm feeling human again,:clap2: Jessica

Best of luck to you too! I see that your Dr. is in Burlingame. I am in San Jose, but from San Mateo. Moved down here for my husband and still can't find my way around. Please let me know how it goes. I am really interested to find out about your first week post-op. I scheduled myself to go right back to work on 5/23. Jess
