  1. Thanks for the responses! I will mention it to my surgeon when I see him. And I have starting measuring out my food! No more eyeballing it for me.
  2. Congrats! I can definitely see a difference! You've inspired me to take my own pictures. Good job!
  3. Hey everyone, I was banded on 12/18. My appetite came back with a vengeance a few days ago. Started mushies at 2 weeks post op- yay! So tonight for dinner I was able to eat an entire can of pureed refried Beans. I feel really stuffed now- I am not sick or in pain, but do you think I messed something up? I was just soooo hungry and hadn´t eaten anything since lunch. Is is possible for the band to slip from eating mushies?
  4. Thanks guys! I know I am supposed to be on soft foods now based both on the books and the handouts- the only conflicting info was regarding the 2cnd week, which I am past. Do you guys think I need to tell them about the Pasta? Or should I tell them about the conflicting information regarding the diet? I am trying to calm down, but I am sooo mad at myself for eating the pasta! It was literally 3 pieces of the spirals, but WHY did I do that?? Maybe because it just looked sooooo good and I was soooo hungry. I had my egg in front of me- so it's not like there was nothing else around. I definitely cannot eat as much I could pre-band, but I also don't feel like I have any restriction, which from reading this forum sounds like it´s pretty normal.
  5. So the post op diet has been really stressful for me. Based on the book I was given by my surgeon, I did a week of Clear Liquids adding Protein Drinks after day 3. Per the booklet, I added full liquids after one week. Then about 4 days into that I found some papers that the nutrionist had given me. These directed me to do clear liquids for 2 weeks, adding Protein Shakes after day 3. I am still not sure which one I am to follow since the office is closed until Monday. I started very soft food as instructed when I was 2 weeks post op. I was banded on 12/18 so would have been 12/31. I haven´t had any problems- no pain or anything like that. I don´t think I´ve damaged anything- I am just really confused about what I was supposed to do. I guess it doesn't matter now since I am on to soft foods, but I am just annoyed! I don't particularly care for the nutrionist. The last time I saw her, she spend more time asking me about what I thought she should incorporate into her next bariatric presentation. I was also supposed to see her at the same time I saw the surgeon for my post op visit, but she wouldn't squeeze me in even though I live an hour away. I sent her an email and she did call me, but only answered one question I had (about how much liquid I should be taking in every hour), but never replied to my email. Then today (the reason I feel so guilty), I ate a few small bites of pasta! What was I thinking! It was really well cooked and I chewed, chewed, and chewed some more, but I feel so terrible! Not physically, but mentally. Do you guys think I messed anything up? I don't feel that I am swollen anymore, because my hunger came back with a vengeance about 2 days ago. Besides my little slip today, I have been following the insutructions to a T. What do you guys think? Is this normal?
  6. Something I've been wondering about too- what is the big difference between clear and full liquids? Obviously, clear liquids are clear and full liquids are not. But I can't see how something like tomato soup could be harmful. Any ideas?
  7. I was supposed to be on clear liquids, adding protein drinks after day 3, for 2 weeks but because my nutritionist is a complete airhead, I actually started on full liquids after one week. She gave me conflicting information- I really can´t stand her. Like you I felt absolutely horrible until I started with soups and shakes. Of course, you should follow your surgeon´s instruction, so I think I would call and ask if it would be okay. Hang in there!
  8. Great Post! It sounds like you have a great family!
  9. What are the calcium chews that you guys are talking about? I haven´t been taking my calcium because the pills are HUGE!
  10. I am so glad you posted this! I was logging on to post something similar. I am 2 weeks post op, on soft foods/mushies and soooooo hungry! I am trying to eat Protein, control portion size and drink lots of Water. It´s like as soon as I hit the 2 week mark, I was starving! I am also trying to take small bites and chew them at least 25 times- it's a lot more challenging than I thought! I am scheduled for my first fill on 2 Feb. So nice to see I am not alone:)
  11. Wierd how everyone´s ports are in different places. Mine is about an inch above my belly button a little bit the left. It is still quite sore, but I am only 11 days post op. Sitting for long periods is bothersome.
  12. I was also banded on 12/18 and my first BM was 12/24. Defintely not an experience I want to relive. LOL. Like you, I have not had another one and I am hoping it won´t be so bad. Yuck!
  13. Thank you both your replies! Deb A- I do have reflux- I was on medication for it and come to think of it, I haven´t taken it since I´ve been home from the hospital! I wonder if that is it. I didn´t even think about it until I read your post. Duh. My doc even okayed me to take the pills. I am going to pop one right now and see if it helps! Susan, Thanks for the yogurt tip. Going to look at the soups later today. I can´t advance on to mushies for another month! Ahhh! Lucky you:)
  14. Hi all! So I´ve been on full liquids for a few days. I´ve had cream of wheat made with nonfat milk, sugar free pudding and Soup. Any other ideas? My book talks about sugar free yogurts, but I have not been able to find those anywhere. Doesn´t all yogurt contain sugar? Maybe they mean plain, fat free yogurt? I was banded on 12/18/08 and I´ve had this wierd feeling in my chest and throat. It´s hard to describe but it feel tight, almost like it´s a gas bubble. I started to worry since I just started full liquids, but they are liquids, so how could that be the cause? I am really careful to sip and stop when I feel full. I thought you couldn´t get blocked at the liquid stage. Any ideas? Thanks! E-
  15. Hi everyone, How is everyone doing? I am happy because I´ve advanced to full liquids! Yippee! So far I´ve had tomato soup and cream of wheat. I saw my surgeon on Monday- he said I´m doing great. I get my first fill on 2 Feb. Is anyone else really nauseated? I feel so crappy a lot of the time- I am still taking Lortab, so I wonder if that contributes, but it seems like most are off the pain meds. I wonder if liquid Tylenol would do the trick. I hate feeling nauseated! Do you guys have a calorie target you are supposed to meet everyday? I know I am supposed to get in 70 grams of Protein per day, but I was never sure about the calories. Happy Holidays! E
  16. Hi there, I was banded on Thursday and I am also still in pain. Like you, I also had a hernia repaired and wondered if that might be the reason. I can´t imagine having to go back to work next week. Luckily I am out until 5Jan. What really hurts, is this darn gas pain! I want to rip my shoulder off it hurts that bad. What are eating/drinking at this point? I am doing Water, Jello, miso Soup (strained), popsicles and broth. Tomorrow I can do Protein shakes again and I am thrilled. I am so tired of all the other stuff! I see the surgeon tomorrow for a follow-up and I hope he will give me the okay to do mushies or at least full liquids like Soups. E-
  17. Hi fellow bandsters! I was banded on 12/18/08 and just came home from the hospital yesterday. Yesterday was tough- the gas pains suck! I wanted to rip my shoulder off. I also can´t tell if I am full. Sometimes it hurts under my ribs. Is that the ¨full¨ feeling that I am supposed to get? I´ve been doing Jello, broth and strained Miso Soup. Just sent the hubby to the store to get sugar free popsicles. Does anyone know if they make sugar-free fudgesicles? I see the surgeon for a follow-up on Monday- not sure what to expect. Also, my tummy is making all kinds of noises- like I am hungry, but I don´t know if I am or not. Is it normal to be able to eat an entire cup of Jello at this point? Looking forward to chatting with all of you! Esmerelda
