How many of you had a surgery date before ins. approval?
Mine was scheduled and submitted at the same time. It really helped to push it through. Good luck.

Almost 9 months p/o & still no restriction! Is this band not going to work for me??
I feel for you. I am 21 months post op and it seems I just reached my sweet spot 2 months ago. It took me 15 fills and unfills. Very frustrating. Just work with your surgeon. They can overfill past 10ccs too, probably at least 1 more. Good luck.

Shapely Secrets
The premise is working muscles on muscles. I have used it since Wednesday and have already lost 1/2 inch in my hips. It is the easiest workout I have ever done! You work your upper body with your abs, your lower body legs, butt and thighs, your triceps, biceps and shoulders and your face. Each circuit is 2 minutes with 3 body parts plus 1 minute on the face. I love it so much I just ordered her other lower body 7 minute workout to see if I can lose more on the thighs. You can order it online. Let me know what you think.

1st of 3 PS consults Tuesday. What to expect?
We have almost the same stats. I'm 5'8 1/4". Currently I am 215-216. My doctor and I discussed a goal weight of 185. That puts me at a BMI of 28. I am not sure exactly what the surgeon will say on Tuesday. I am hoping that if I get down below 200 I can have the procedure. That would put me at a size 16 headed for 14. I would love to get to 165-175 which is my high school weight. I am totally happy in a size 16 however. My goal all along is to never diet again. I want to reach a healthy size that I can stay at without yo yoing again, if you know what I mean. I have heard stories that when you have PS you can lose quite a bit more afterwards. You will probably lose at least 10 lbs once the swelling goes down. How exciting! When is your surgery? I am hoping mine will be in the late Sumemr early Fall. Julie

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
Hi Barbara, you may want to call your surgeon and ask them. Personally speaking my surgeon didn't have me do a preop diet so I was okay. That being said if you start now he may have you do one and may not count the time you spent on one. A simple phone call will help you. Good luck with your surgery. How exciting! julie

fish oil?
My hairstylist noticed my hair was dry. She recommended fish oil along with a deep protein conditioner once a week. Hope it helps.

I got the look...
F* them. Sorry to be so blunt. This is your body, your health and your happiness. If you want lapband surgery go for it. They forget that it is just a tool. It is hard work still. Good luck to you!

Discouraged by Family
You truly must do this for yourself. That being said, I would invite them to an informational seminar. Obesity is a disease, a very serious one at that. There is no cure. Lapband is the safest weight loss surgery out there. It is definitely not the easy way out. My first 65 lbs were pretty easy to lose. Now I am working harder than every to lose the last 30 lbs or so. Just know that to be successful you still need to motify your eating habits, exercise, drink water and limit your alcohol intake. You will love your band if you follow the rules. Good luck to you. You can do this!

1st of 3 PS consults Tuesday. What to expect?
Hi Kat, I am 5'8" tall. My LB surgeon and I set a goal weight of 185. That is still considered overweight at 165ish is healthy weight. I am currently around 216. My goal is to get to 200 lbs. That would put me at a BMI of 30 and 15 lbs from goal. Truthfully, my size goal is only 1 size from where I am. I am starting to get excited. I joined Weight Watchers Tuesday in the hopes of losing 20 lbs in about 2 1/2 months. That would put me at my goal in May. This is so exciting! What did you have quoted? How much was your quote?

1st of 3 PS consults Tuesday. What to expect?
I am 30 lbs from goal. My goal is 3 more months to lose at least 20 lbs to get ready for PS. What can I expect when I meet with the plastic surgeon? I am looking into a TT, lower body lift with lip and a breat augmentation.

Is anyone stuck?
I have 30 lbs to go. The only thing that helped me was increasing my exercise and joining Weight Watchers. I dedicated 10 weeks to the program. My goal is to get down 15-20 lbs in those 10 weeks so I am close to goal. My goal is 185 and I'm 5'8". I want to be a size 16. I'm in an 18 right now.

Already Getting Stuck?
Tortilla and bread can be very difficult. The best thing you can do is eat the size of a pencil eraser, chew really well and eat slowly. That is the only way not to get stuck. good luck.

I Miss Being 'Normal'...Am I alone in this?
I totally understand how you feel. I miss carbonation, a big fat steak, a big Subway sandwich, food in general. I miss vegetable because by the time I eat my protein I don't have room. I don't miss seat belt extenders when I fly, my 24 jeans and stuff like that. You are not alone.

Warning: Keep an eye on your rings
Mine would fall off all the time. Its 5 carats so finally I took it off for a while. I found a great jeweler in town that sized it right in front of my eyes for $25. I was down 1.5 sizes.

Tight but not losing weight
I eat 1k calories a day now. I no longer drink beer. I do a 7 minutes muscle and muscle fitness video daily and I have lost 1.5 lbs this week so far. How many calories a day are you consuming? Are you exercising?

Re-gain after Plastic Surgery
Hi Julie. Question for you. I am considering a tummy tuck at 199 as well and I'm 5'8" tall. Did you have to have a tt revision. My goal weight is 185. Not sure if 15 lbs will matter.

Need a fill and can't get appt.!
7 weeks my God. My doctor only makes you wait 2 weeks in between fills. 7 weeks is too long, especially when you are just starting out. I would call and put yourself on a waiting list or call them every couple days until there is one that opens up. Good luck.

Am I too tight?
I have the same size band as you. It took me a long time to get to 3 ccs. In fact, I am 21 months out and it took me probably a year at least to get there. I was at 2.9 for a long time now I am at 3.2. Look at this 2 ways okay. Either a. you are too tight. Too tight is when it is hard to take down liquids and solids can be a problem too. The second way to look at this per my doctor is there are 2 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids which is not good and tightness to solids. If you don't mind eating a softer diet and can still lose it is up to you whether or not you are too tight. In my case I can only eat 1-2 oz of protein at a time but I am losing and am quite happy with that. You just need to see how you do on solids. Let me know what happens. 3 is agressive for 2nd fill. Good luck.
-
I was shocked!
I so understand where you are coming from. I gained 7 lbs in between fills. Just work with your doctor to get you to the right fill level. It took me months and months to get there and even 21 months in I still struggle with the right levels. Good luck.

How did your doctors feel about you getting a Gastric Band?
All of my doctors were very supportive, especially my OBGYN. How much do you have to lose?
