  1. I saw a recent picture of Carnie Wilson today on tmz.com and couldn't believe how much weight she has gained. She looks like she is 220-240 again. I feel so sorry for her. My doctor said that bipass patients typically gain back 25% of their weight in the first few years. I am so glad I have the band!
  2. Karey, it sounds like your friend maybe dealing with some internal stuff herself. My best friend and I didn't talk for 8 months last year and now things are so much better. I would give her some time to come around. Not sure about the bridal shower. If you cancel it may be the end of your friendship for sure. You look great. She may be a little jealous as well.
  3. That sounds great. I am meeting with my PS today. Currentl my BMI is 32 but I'm hoping she'll do surgery on me between 28-30. I'm 32 lbs from goal right now.
  4. Steph, that is great news. I don't know if my insurance covers plastic surgery or not.
  5. Lauren, I see you are 40 lbs from goal. I am 35. Did she say you had to lose much weight?
  6. I was over40 BMI when I was banded. Now I am at 33% headed to 30! I would simply tell her that this is a personal decision. Yes, and when she is a nurse she may have to deal with Bariatric patients. I feel sorry for her that she is so misinformed. Go for it! Yes, to the bathtub Sister. Isn't it a bitch!
  7. The world needs more people like you. I really hope they take better care of the poor dog. Hopefully the SPCA will be prompt in their investigation. Would it help if you called them?
  8. Fill take 5 minutes. My doctor suggests 2 weeks in between a fill.
  9. A few months ago my surgeon put me on phen to see if it would help control my appetite. It was the worst thing I ever did. It made me so sick and just feel awful. I am really happy with my band now. I am filled perfectly and my hunger is gone.
  10. Wheetsin, I am so happy for you congrats! Sounds like this guy has terrible bedside manners. I would schedule a follow up visit with the other doctor and let her know the troubles you had. Good luck with your pregnanacy!
  11. Personally speaking I would try and find someone in your area. About the hole in the tubing, I would think that would be very rare. Good luck.
  12. My band holds 4 as well. Truthfully I think 3ccs in a 4cc band is very agressive for a first fill. I would go back in and have at least .5 taken out. For a long time I was at 2.9ccs in mine and did very well. I have 3.2 in now. Good luck trying to find that spot!
  13. That is fabulous news. You should be really proud of yourself!
  14. I eat everything, just less of it. Its trail and error. You just have to see how you do after the band.
  15. Truthfully I never really look at my face as being saggy or bad. I do however look at my abs, pouch and legs as they droop. Meeting with plastic surgeon tomorrow.
  16. you should be fine. I was on several anti depressives before I was banded.
  17. Love yourself no matter what weight you are. You are a child of God.
  18. I have heard really good things about it. One of the names is Smartlipo. I hear there isn't as much dimpling that can happen and you are back to work within 1-2 days.
  19. Let us know how you do. Good luck. P.S. Where do you go to school and what is your major?
  20. I am thinking 2 weeks plus 2 weeks telecommuting. Depends on whether or not you have a desk job. Either way I would say 2-4 weeks.
  21. Kat, that is fabulous. God if I could get to 186, that would put me in a size 14. You go girl! You rock. Let me know how you do okay.
  22. 5 and a half months and 48 lbs seems realistic. That is just over 2 lbs a week. I think most PS will do surgery on you when you are 10-20 lbs from goal. I'm 216 and my goal weight is 185. My goal for surgery is 200. That would put me 15 lbs from goal. Let me know what your surgeon thinks.
  23. It sounds like you need a fill. If you can consume 3/4 to 1 cup of food that is too much. Go get another fill and keep going back until you can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food. However, if you are losing on 3/4 to 1 cup it will be up to you whether you want more restriction. You are doing very well on that level. Good luck.
  24. I am down to 216 from 320. I definitely will require a tummy tuck and a lower body lift with lipo. I go meet with the 1st surgeon on Tuesday. Good luck. Work out as much as you can. That does help.
  25. For me it was simple. I didn't want my organs permanently mamed. I wanted something that was adjustable and removable. I also heard that you can't eat sugar and you dump. Those are 2 things I didn't want to experience. The lapband is a longer process but so worth it. Good luck with your decision.
