  1. You have to temper it. If it hurts going down I wouldn't have it. I drink champagne on a regular basis without problem. You need to just try it to see if it gives you any gas or backup problems. Enjoy.
  2. Yes, eat tomato soup. YOu can have it.
  3. I think that 3-4ccs is really good. I would push for that.
  4. You can eat anything that fits through a straw. I would move to a creamy soup. You have to make it with milk so it will give you some extra protein.
  5. Kris, you are on the healing stages until you hit the 6 week mark. That is when you can get a fill. Try and stay to 1 cup of food per meal, lots of protein. You will start to lose once you gain restriction.
  6. Teddy, it sounds like you are too tight. If you have reflux and are PBing you are too tight. Can you get solid protein down? If not, you are too tight. With good restriction you may only eat 1/4 cup of food. But if you PB you are too tight. Good luck trying to find the balance. I too have 15 lbs to go. Its tough finding the right fill level. Good luck.
  7. Beth, the lapband works 2 ways. First of all, with good restriction you will feel full longer. Second of all, you will not be able to consume big servings of food. Restriction does take some time but it is well worth it.
  8. Stick to these boards where you will get support. Its the only way to go. Good luck.
  9. Wendy, congrats on the weight loss and restriction. Isn't it great?!
  10. My doctor has me wait 2 weeks in between fills. I would definitely move your fill up. I too have a 4cc band. I don't get restriction until I hit 3 ccs. Good luck.
  11. I have UHC and I believe my plan had me to be BMI of 40 with no comorbesities. They approved the surgery without a 6 month diet as well.
  12. I wish I knew how long it took to get good restriction. It took me over 6 months to get good restriction. I have probably had 15-20 fills and unfills over 2 years.
  13. That is fabulous news. Who would have thought that it would affect your entire family. That is great.
  14. The say that RYN is more successful is just wrong. At year 3 the lapband and RYN is the same at 65% of excess weight loss. Its 85% at year 2 with RYN but most gain back at least 20%. Seeing that the results are the same, I would pick lapband over RYN. Good luck.
  15. Hi Terri, my surgeon wanted $1500 but I talked him down to $1k. It turned out better than my tummy tuck. So glad I did it.
  16. It took me about a week to be able to go back to work. Take your time and recuperate.
  17. I was 320 when I first started my weight loss adventure. I couldn't even walk on 2 on the treadmill. The best advice I can give you is to eliminate carbs, sugars, alcohol as much as possible. I lost 40 lbs preop by doing this. Good luck on your venture.
  18. Tonya, I have been banded 2 years now so you can ask me any questions you may have. The important thing is patience with the band. It does take some time to get good restriction once you start getting fills.
  19. Great NSV. Congrats!
  20. Karen, its okay to mourn the loss of your sister in law. Do you have enough restriction?
  21. Beagle, can you eat solid protein? If not, you are too tight. If so then you may need another fill. It is quite common if you have a 10cc band to take about 7 ccs or more. Good luck.
  22. Stacie, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Just try and stay focused on eating like a bandster. Maybe journaling or something like that may help.
  23. Neosporin would be best for now until they are healed more. Then I would move to Lubriderm or a mild lotion like that.
  24. YOu will have to move to Tylenol products instead. I do take an occassional Advil without problem but I don't make it a practice.
