  1. Hello, I am two weeks post band removal and wish I had done this in one procedure. My surgeon said that he could do it in one procedure but it would be a double risk. I wanted to be as safe as possible, so I'm doing this in two. For those of you that had or will have a two-part procedure, How long did you wait between surgeries. I am so ready to do it now. My incisions are doing okay, only one is still a little sore but my stomach looks swollen and puffy. Also, was anyone else's puffy? and for how long. Just curious to know. THANKS!
  2. When I had the band removed, Dr. said he saw nothing that would keep me from having RNY. It's been 6 weeks and I feel that I'm ready now so maybe I shouldn't wait too long but right now I would like to have it done a week before thanks giving b/c it would give me enough vacation time from work before going back and to start healing
  3. whitar10..Keep me posted Please!
  4. Melissa, did you have a lot of scar tissue? How has things been for you since? Sorry to hear that.

    Its been removed!

My band was removed 6 weeks ago but I was somewhat unfilled at the time of surgery but not all the way. I really do want to revise to RNY but like you Kattatack, I don't know if I want to deal with wls again. Anyway, I 've been approved for it and have untill the end of the year to have it done on that approval. Since band removal, I can sleep, exercise, eat,etc...w/o issues. I couldn't lose on my own before the band, so I'll be seeing RNY in a couple of months. Good Luck everyone and keep me posted.
  6. Glad to hear that you're feeling better. I don't like dresses either but I can't wait until I'm ready to wear a dress and look darn good in it. Take care!

had lap band out four days ago

My band was removed also. My Dr. told me to do liquids for two days and then back to a regular diet. But he also said to be careful about what I put in..
  8. Thanks, I will. I just don't want to gain back all the weight while I wait to heal.
  9. I haven't had the surgery yet, but I've heard that some dump and others don't. I wonder why that is?
  10. Oh man! My surgeon just said to my husband " Well, I got that ole band out". I'm glad it went well for you, I was afraid of leaks and the fact that he said that it was a double risk. but all I can do now is wait. He didn't put a time on it.
  11. I have an old gall bladder scar the old way they used to perform it. I was told that you may not be able to have a full TT if you have that scar. Has anyone else heard this or had this and was able to have a full TT. My tummy is in bad shape already (appearance wise) and I know that I will be needing a TT and not just a panniculectomy.

My little lap band monster is coming out!

I had mine out 1 month ago today. I don't feel like a failure b/c I followed the rules the best that I could before having complications. I was banded for five years and lost 45 lbs in the first 4-5 months and nothing since. I did learn some better eating habits. Even though I was too tight, I still gained back some weight. In a couple of months I plan to have RNY b/c my insurance will not pay for the sleeve. I thought that I would be depressed b/c I decided to have it removed, but I haven't been. I'm happy it was removed and now I can sleep on my left side again without pain and hopefully without the pain that I used to get from unknown causes that lasted 2-3 weeks in the port area. best of luck to you and keep me posted.
  13. Keep up the good work, 37 lbs is awesome for an ex-bander in such a short time (So I've heard). I can only hope and pray that I can come threw with this the way you have.
  14. I'm hoping for late October or early November as well. I chickened out the first time too, but I have already had my band removed and hope to follow through with RNY this fall. I'm nervous but ready.
  15. I am curious to know how long did you have to wait after band removal before revising

    Surgery and Post-Op

OMG! I had the band removed 3 weeks ago in order to have RNY when I'm healed. My insurance won't pay for the sleeve but I'm like your brother, I need to give this more thought. Get well soon and take it easy. Stay hydrated is what I've heard and take care.
  17. I haven't revised to anything yet, I just had the band (taken out) 3 weeks ago. I haven't gained any weight either and I'm being cautious about my eating. I was referring to anyone that may have had their band (taken out) and waited a certain amount of time before a revision to RNY. Thanks for the knowledge!
  18. thanks , I know it'll be hard to do the proteins again but I can't wait to get started. I never had a problem with any foods. I was told by the nut that I wouldn't be able to eat salads after banding, I was afraid for a while to even try. After I tried it, that's mainly what I ate a lot of. My surgeon originally told me that I had to do a 4 week liquid diet so I suppose I'll start that in a couple of months. By then, my 3 month wait for RNY would be here.

    Does it feel the same?

Hello, I wondered if it felt the same also. I had my band removed 3 weeks ago b/c I had the same issues as you. I haven't had RNY yet, but I can say that I can feel the difference since I had the band removed.
  20. Feel better soon Pik, I'm so sorry to hear that.
  21. I'm sorry to hear that but 've heard that it gets better. WOW! 32lbs before surgery is great. Did you have to do the liquid diet? If so, for how many weeks. My surgeon asked me to just call the office when I get ready for the next step

    Really nervous!

Hi AuriP, Although still a little nervous as you, I had the band removed nearly 2 weeks ago. I'm doing OK and now looking forward to having RNY around 2-3 months from now. I hope your nervousness has gotten better. I know in the next 2-3 months, I will be hoping that someone says this to me..LOL....Good luck with the rest of your journey!

    Mental Anguish over Decision

This is my post. I think you just changed my name to yours LOL....But seriously, I believe over half of lap banders could say the exact same thing. I am now 60yrs old and thought to give the band one last chance. I figured that it was just me. After getting one more fill, I still had no restriction and was still gaining weight. I knew that if I got another fill, then I will once again have reflux and night coughs. So nearly 2 weeks ago I had the band removed. I've done weight watchers and soooo many other diets before being banded and just can't do it on my own. I just don't want to waste more of my golden years trying diets again that I already know that I won't be successful with. Therefore, once I;m healed from the removal, I plan to go through with the revision to RNY ASAP. Good luck to you, I can't tell you what you should do, but I just wanted you to know how I plan to deal with our simular situations. Keep me posted.

    Seven Years Later..

I had my band remove 1.5 weeks ago and I already feel better in a way, and feel sad in a way. This is why it took me sooo long to make the final decision to have it removed. It wasn't totally the bands fault and it wasn't totally mine either. Hind sight is 20-20 so they tell me, so after I heal, I have to make another decision b/c I still have the same health problems as before and I still need to lose 60 lbs. I've tried every diet before deciding on the band, and yes it will be a struggle and I already know that. I plan to hit the gym and try to eat better. I will still start over again by following the lap band rules that I've been taught. My removal was out-patient and aside from my stomach looking as though the band was dug out, and I'm still a little sore, swollen, and itchy, I was told by my Dr. that everything is fine. I took meds and liquid diet the first 2 days and then back to a regular but sensible diet.
