  1. Just a quick suggestion for those who are using a low carb diet and are out and about and need something quick and easy. Have you tried the TESCO CARB Control milk shake type drinks they come ready made in strawberry or chocolate cost just under £1. The net carb is only 1.5g, and for those who count calories its 170, they keep me satisfied all day, and are great for liquid days and to carry in your bag in an emergency, but make sure its the carb control one you pick up (its written all over the package) and not the tescos light shake, which is high carb like slimfast. They taste ok only, but you wont look for any other food for ages.
  2. Hi Anitahugs, thanks for the info on the medication, I was also a slow starter together with big sister when it came to weightloss and it only really started after my third fill which gave me a good amount of restriction. The lower the starting bmi the more difficult and slower it seems to be but as promised on the literature Dr Chris gives out I have lost 50% of my excess weight in 6 months, or quite close to it, I wanted it quicker like everyone else, but it just takes time. One of the advantages is that your skin does'nt sag as much and you have time mentally to adjust to your changing shape, and to other peoples reactions about the weight loss. Although I am an outwardgoing type of person I dont like drawing attention to myself, and weightloss does just that, so my stumbling blocks have been, genuine hunger when I dont have restriction combined with the need to hide my weightloss until I can cope with the attention and coments, although I have lost 2st, I feel I can only tell people its 1st, how strange it that.!!! Your weightloss will kick in even though at the moment you dont believe it, when the restriction is right it will be more exciting and you will see a downward trend as long as you keep on top of the bandfills.
  3. Hi everyone, just a quick update, I've joined the wls group 6 months package and I had my first appointment Monday morning, Wendy is delightfull, and very much like Chris Deprez in her manner and approach. I had a total defill, she found 6ml from my total fill value of 6.66, so I've lost a bit somewhere, apparently this is quite usual. She then added .25 taking me to 6.25ml. We discussed the night reflux and she said it was only that I was making too much gastric juices and asked me to get 1 months supply of OMEPRAZOLE 20mg from my GP, and that is will settle down within 3 days. I have now started these but dont yet know if it'll work because I'm still on fluids. Just a quick question to WLS friends, how long does Wendy suggest we stay on fluids before going onto mushies, we did'nt discuss it.
  4. Welcome oliverdog, your in the same position and age as a lot of us on here, your borderline bmi, Dr Chris critia is 35 min 50 max but there is a little room for negotiation, or you can add a few pounds to come within the range, like weighing at night with all your clothes coat and boots . E.mail Dr Chris or Fred first, and ask about the package its the cheapest and most convient because you get all taxi, hotel, and operation cost and arrangements done for you. You only have to arrange flights into Belgium INTERNATIONAL airport. good luck, mmm
  5. Oh Bless carriejess you are having a bad day, its so sad and its not unusual to feel dissapointed, lonely, and insecure when a relationship changes direction. I am absolutly convinced that acid reflux is enhanced by emotion and stress, the band tightens and all sorts of problems start. The only advice I can offer is not to eat within 3 hours of sleeping, I also have to stop drinking for a least 2 hours before bed. If it gets really bad I go back to liquids and mushies. Then out of the blue it goes away and you can eat everything again, see how you get on but if you want to chat pm me and I'll phone you. You have done so well, and have a lot to be proud of, we all know how special you are, chin up darling your a winner:thumbup:
  6. My problem is breekkies too, I've tried melted cheese on a plate with melba toast or if I'm working and on the run I've tried the atkins bars, I've bought some ready mixed protien shakes from tesco but not tried them yet. I was also thinking of having a slice or two of cold cooked meat (thin cut). But I've set myself 1 rule only -from Monday- and that is that every meal must include protein, and I will eat that first before any other item, in case I cant finish the meal, its just a game at this stage but worth a try.
  7. Hi Big sis (twin) I'm at the same place as you, cant eat a thing without a lot of pain and I get reflux, but when I get a tiny amout removed I dont lose any weight its so frustrating. I'm now going to try eating protien at every meal, to see if that helps. I have'nt lost a sausage since my .3 ml was removed, but I cant live with any more fill in. Thats why my bands name is moody moo. I just cant find the sweet spot, but I think I'll be a bit more successful with carefull dieting because in all honesty I dont get REALLY hungry anymore. Hi Freckles, I'm a little concerned about how little your eating, and thats whats probably causing your bowel prob aswell. If you cant eat anymore cant you at least add a protien drink, that should help with the weight loss and keep your energy levels higher.. I'm going to France end Aug.
  8. Hi Gary, I'm so pleased its all over for you now and you have had a repair job done, did you find out if we can use the slendertone belts, I've still got a spare tyre but I'm no longer looking like the michalin man, so a bit of toning and a bit more weight off should do it. Love mmm
  9. I know, but the convenience of every sat morning is good. Chris Deprez charges £80 in Newport but that is only once a month on last Fri of the month.. I've transfered over to WLS group which is in Cardiff next Monday, again its on a school, or work day so a bit of a pain for those who work full time. I suppose you pay for the privelige of weekend fills.
  10. Hi Guys just a quick post to tell everyone that George at Asda have a half price clothes sale, t.shirts £1.50 and lots of other stuff, great for transitional sizes.
  11. Jackie, there is a filling station in Newport, with Chris Deprez, part of the fred and chris gang, or Mr Wong does fills in Spire Cardiff on a Sat morning. The initial consultation plus 1st fill is £150, with subsequent fills at £120, let me know if you want the phone numbers, Sat morning is so easy and the hospital is just off Junction 30 M4
  12. Well done bobo i'm so please that you feel you can do normal things and feel comfortable now with being average. I bet you could have done these things earlier but it takes courage and confidence to enjoy to do things we have only hoped we would be able to do. It lifts everyone when someone in the group breaks out and reaches a mile stone. Woop woop.
  13. I would email chris or fred before your fill, they've always said to do a full defill before flying for more than 4 hrs. These bands are quite expensive and you dont want to break it or make yourself ill on holls and suffer a band slip. I know its a pain waiting for the band to kick in but youve taken the biggest step and it will start to work for you. Also your BMI is quite good, it may pay to be patient. XXXMmmXXX
  14. We had a fab wedding yesterday, it was really nice to get all dressed up and not feel concious about the lumps and bumps, I felt totally chilled out and happy in my body, and I think I looked fab in my new dress  this band has proven to be all I wanted it to be even tho its still moody. I have 7ml in and I cant eat, or drink and cant even sleep, then I have .3 of a ml (YES A THIRD OF 1 ML) out and I can eat EVERYTHING as long as I take my time how wierd is that. I met up with Freckles today at Cardiff, as she was also attending a different wedding and it seemed such a good opportunity to see each other. She is so lovely, we hit it off right away, It helped that she said I was much smaller than she expected, I'm sure she meant shorter, but hay whats in a word, so now she's my forever best friend. Freckles is just as compasionate in real life as she is on here, I'm sure she an angel in disguise.. I just wish she lived closer because she's def my kind of girl. Love ya freckles.. XXXMAGGSXXX
  15. Hi anitahug, I regularly use MBT's as does my daughter, best friend, sister and brother in law, and I have been looking at the new sketchers exercise shape ups if fact I went to try some on today in Cardiff but they'd all been sold in my size. I can highly recommend MBT because once your used to them you'll use them regularly, they're really good for the super market dash but dont what ever you do try to run in them. take your time getting used to them, use them for a short time each day increasing the usage time daily. (I call them my spice girls trainers) Now that you've got your sketcher version do you mind telling me if they are true to size or do I need to go up or down a size my normal shoe is 5.5, and I think they only do 5 or 6 which one would you recommend. I also wear fitflops and have just seen their new winter bootee, yippee I want the black, or maybe the brown, or even the camel. Oh dear what decisions.
  16. Thanks, thanks, I promise I'll be really naughty, not very good at bickering, but boy can I pinch clothes. I have a Fantasie (mink and turquoise) its been very comfortable but now too big, I bought chantelle matching sets today for my birthday treat. I'm not going out tonight so just settling down with a bottle of baileys Mmmmmmmmmmm xxxmmm
  17. Woop Woop if we are practically related, can we please move up to the step and Please, please, please can I join the naughty sisters gang, I dont have a sister and feel quite left out :tongue2:
  18. Sammy enjoy your hols, you can always sort out you diet and queezyness when you get back, take your vitamins and relax and have fun. Report back when you can you lucky girl.
  19. Welcome deedee its great to hear from new bandsters, I know you'll fit in you can have great conversations with freckles, (bowels and stuff). Dont be dispondant if you dont get instant results when you have a fill, some do get restriction but some dont see much difference until about 2nd or 3rd. Its different for everyone, but so far you have done so well with a great weight loss. Well Done You. :tongue2:
  20. Best wishes for all of you who are going to Belgium its so exciting and a start of a new era in your lives. Gary can you also ask about the slendertone belt as mention previously I've got one and would like to start using it again if poss, I have used it previously. I know it tones the stomach muscles but think how well the stomach muscles will look toned and not hidden by so much fat.
  21. Oh I've just noticed the lap band forum people/system has automatically changed my age, now that clever, and they sent me a birthday greeting.
  22. Please ask about rowing machine for me I use one for about 20 mins, but not that often if I'm honest. Good luck Gaz. Birthday outing for me to Madam Fona (ladies fitting specialist) Yippee dropped a bra size around the back but not around the front, changed from 38d to 36d, I love this moody band, so no more over the shoulder boulder holder, now its pretty frothy lace.
  23. It does take a while for weight loss to start properly but with regular fills, when you get restriction it will start, I thought my restriction would never start, but it did, it worked so well I could'nt eat for two weeks, but if I have any less a of a fill I dont lose weight, its a very fine line, between lose or not. I expected to lose all the time when I had a band fitted, but it has'nt worked out like that for me. I would like to lose another 2st but am resolved that it may take me up to 1 year but I'm feeling a lot better with the weight I'm at now compared to what I was. For me a bmi of around 30 is ok for now. Are you going on holidays in 2 weeks and are you flying, if so that might help in the short term until you can get a fill.
  24. Sorry to burst your bubble bebo, but they're not that good for weight loss they're not aerobic, but better for toning, I used mine regularly but did'nt loose any weight, lets hope you can save yourself some money by not having it. Freckles you are so naughty, i'm addicted now to your cracker and marmite masterpiece. Big sister, I'm so pleased you've reported on the cdb wls connection, it will possibly mean that the band is covered if we also use wls if cdb recommends it on his promotional material. Woop woop. I'm feeling happier now.
  25. Beebo can you cancel that order, on the info you get from CDB after the op its tells you not to use them if you,ve a band fitted. I have a vibrating plate machine and have given it away because you cant use it even a long time post op. for further info contact Fred or CDB
