  1. Hi freckles, so glad to see you back again I have been following your health scare, but hey weight is secondary importance after what youve been through. Get yourself strong. Love Mmm.xxx
  2. Great to hear about everyones progress. I read all posts and love the successes. Ooops I must update my ticker. Love mmm.
  3. Hi Guys just hitting base to see how your all getting on and seams all is well keep up the good work this band is truly life changing
  4. Congrats on your fab news, both my daughter and freckles daughter have had band babies. In my daughters case she had a partial defill she kept 3ml in for the first 5 months then topped up again to 4.5 for the next 3 half months, then went back to 3ml for the last few weeks and whilst she was breast feeding, she was advised to reduce the fill incase of an emergency c section, or any other complications. After 6 months breast feeding she was back to her pre pregnancy weight, and then had a restrictive band fill to shift a bit more. Mother and baby did brill, however I did pay for her to have an extra scan in the early weeks just to be certain the baby was growing at the correct rate, all was normal. Hope this helps (PS my daughter had her band with BUPA and they monitered her monthly free of charge).
  5. Hi Pearce, yep it sounds like an overfill, if your still having problems you have a few options: Get some omeprazole from chemist no prescription needed, take max dose for a few days, to reduce acid and slime. drink cold drinks or sip ice lollies, If you cant swollow saliver contact fred or chris, and arrange emergency unfill. Clinic in London every Sat. Hope this info is not required and all has settled down.
  6. Hi JoJo, Dont forget to take mugs with you the cups in the room are useless, there is a small town within easy walking distance (with your back to the hotel look left and you will see an arched railway bridge go under that into town) there is kebab shop and cafes. But you can join him in the hotel restaurant and just dont order for youself. Or there is quite a good restaurant within the clinic/hospital which he can use. Prices are a bit more than uk but not really silly, also you can stock up on yogs, Water and things for yourself from the hosp resaurant before you leave . Take teabags, slimasoup, and mugs also powder sachet of drinking choc, and nurofen melts (sucking pain relief. Also if you find the pain killers that are given to you too fizzy put them in warm water and they soon go clear It will feel like youve been kicked around the room the first 2 days but each day there is an improvement, and very soon you'll be ok, take care, good luck love mmmxxx
  7. I know exactelly how your feeling but dont beat yourself up, a lot of the weight gain would have been fluid to rebalance your dehydration, and thats why your pooing more and getting ride of your toxins. I can only have a max of 4.5ml in band on a permanant basis and put 1 stone on when my fill levels had to be reduced. however it does rebalance the important thing is now not to over eat (easier said than done) and to re educate potion sizes again easier said than done I dont know how your financially situated but I found diet chef where everything is precounted and delivered to you door around £5 a day ish helps to guide you on what is a normal level and the food is band friendly The worst thing you can do is do nothing and worry, take control, and help your band, your going to renourish your body for an important event and afterwards you can always have your band refilled in the future enjoy yourself, nurture your self and the very best of luck with the next faze of your life love mmm xxx,
  8. Woop woop that is a big restriction, at the very least you should be having a few high quality (protein) shake and plenty of water if everything is chilled you might find it easier, Bassetts do a chewey multi vit which you can suck in blackcurrent flavour Good luck hope all goes good for you and you see the weight loss you want, love mmmxxx
  9. Was really a friday the 13th for both of us, but as you say I dont regret it one bit and any weight off is a bonus, and looking at your photos on facebook, you are in great shape, your obviously enjoying your social life around training and have a great network of friends. I'm still having issues but nothing as bad as it was, but have'nt got restriction, as soon as I get anywhere near even a small amount of restriction I get acid reflux and asthma, so I can have no more than 4ml in my band, however if I get de-filled I eat like food is going out of fashion so the band must be doing something in curbing my apetite. even though it doesnt resrict the type of food I can eat. I'm so pleased you have such a positive outlook, and l'm sure you will be able to maintain your weight with the training. Good luck mmmxxx
  10. Hi Gary, I'm still around and still struggling but not so bad, but hey look at your bmi, I'm so impressed. but did'nt doubt you Have all your issues been sorted now, and are you still having nhs treatment Love mmm
  11. What a wonderful uplifting few posts thanks, mummiesbb, although I have not posted for a very long time I still read all posts Its great to read about weight loss journeys. Hi to anyone who remembers me. Love mmm.
  12. Congrats carriejess, I've been wondering how the pregnancy went and what you had girl or boy so its all great news for you now, well done darling. Hi freckles, nice to see you back, I've been lurking in the side wings, reading posts but not responding, I like you have had a gain after having some taken out because of reflux. Just a quick update I went to Belgium between christmas and New year to see Dr Chris regarding my reflux he told me that the band wont work for me unless I also reduce my calories very low and cut out liquid fat (chocolate) and the only other thing would be to have a by-pass but at a bmi of around 30ish its not going to happen. I went to his house and had a xray for which he charged me only 50euros which included a small fill but the taxis also cost around 50 euros. It was reasuring to know the band was in a good position, so now I've had 2 xrays one at bupa Cardiff and one in belgium both show all is well, and theres no obvious cause for the reflux. The advise from both surgeons has been keep taking the omeprazole, sleep propped up dont eat after 6pm eat low calorie food and do strenious excercise to use up calories. I have now ordered pre calorie counted meals from diet chef to hopefully get down to 75kg (Dr Chris gave this as appropriate for me). Its a constant battle but I am remotivated so although I can have only about 4ml in my band it may still help me from getting quite as hungry. Slinky your doing a grand job of keeping everything going whilst we pop in and out, keep up the good work.
  13. Off on holls again speak to you all in Oct. Keep up the good work, and lets get skinny for xmas woop woop
  14. Hi Scooby, Its a big learning curve isnt it, I'm 18 months banded and what you have described is the amount I will eat on a normal day and that would be on a big amount of food day, trust me you will survive on such small amounts. It was a big surprise to see how little food we need to eat just to maintain current weight not alone lose weight. I just make sure I have a daily vitamin and mineral and try to keep a good level of fluids. I've noticed youve done really well with your weight loss, you must be really pleased, its worth doing without food to get the results. Keep up the good work. mmmxxx
  15. Most bupa/spire hospitals can do it, as can weight loss surgery group, in absolute emergencies your A&E department will use the emergency telephone number given to you by Dr Chris, and he has been know to talk another doctor through the proceedure. There used to be a clinic every weekend in London (not sure if its still open) to get emergency defills so that you dont need to wait a full month. The best thing is to drink at least 2 cups of water after each fill to make sure you can at least drink fluids. I had'nt heard previously that Dr Chris has doctors and nurses in arears around the uk to do emergency defills.
  16. If your asking if the fill hurts the answer is not at all. You go into a room get weighed, discuss current position options, problems, nurse gives advise and recommends then you lay down on a bed, lift your top to about bottom of bra level, no need to undress is wearing seperates, so that the port can be accessed. you might feel a pin prick. for the first few fills you wont feel anything when the fluid is put in. Then its over, you just pay and go into the waiting room have a cup or two of water just to make sure fluids are going down ok. You will also be given advise on staying on liquids- moving onto mushies- then onto usual food, post fill. The only painful part is parting from the money at regular times until you get some restriction- some feel restriction after 1 or 2 fills other after 4-5 it depends on the individual and on the bands fitted. Most bands given to females last year held 7ml, but I dont know whats being used now. Dont forget to take your book with the stamps on to your fills, this tells the nurse the type of band you have. I felt that whenever I had a fill I was remotivated and the liquid/mushy food days encouraged weight loss
  17. I was the same it just means your healing quickly, just keep to eating slowly and chew thoughly, good luck
  18. yes youve got reflux speak to your band fill nurse asap see you gp for omeprazole, go onto fluids immediatly to reduce swelling. read back other posts for further details or if you want further info just shout out. Its really miserable and I feel for you, but it can he helped at a last resort by a small defill.
  19. why would anyone book with this tulla when its the same price booking direct with Dr Chris, and you dont have to pay until you arrive in Belgium, and have had a consultation. BOOK DIRECT EVERY ONE.
  20. Either, belgium or local bupa, both cost bout the same, I had mine done at spite cardiff because it was done in half hour and I did'nt need to take time off work. If there had been problems with band I could have posted xray to Dr Chris.
  21. Hi Mia blue, I have been having night reflux now close to 1 year, a defill is the best option but it need'nt be a lot sometimes only .25ml will sort it. However if you want to try otherthings first then here are my tips * dont eat choc after mid day (its slippery and comes back up easily. * go to your gp for omeprazole, I take 2x20mg each evening * last thing drink a fizzy drink (half hr before bed, it pushes everything through band) * if you start to cough at night prop your self up to near sitting position and suck a blackcurrant and liquorice sweet. I have done all of these and only get reflux occationally now, If these dont help get an xray done if you have'nt had your annual one done yet and it will show if your band had slipped or if you are developing a pouch. ps if you pannicking about a defill dont be, it wont make that much difference and if there is any inflamation around your band once it is sorted you might be able to re-fill again. I know its a miserable time for you, and you feel awful when you dont get enough sleep, but you dont have to put up with it. Hope this info helps, you can pm me if you want with your phone number and I'll ring you back.
  22. Hi Sammy, just like you I can eat loads (full potion sizes) so the band is filled to a level which gives very little restriction, but I still get the reflux, I'm still please that I had the band fitted because I no longer go on eating binges, and rarly feel hungry, I'm just greedy, and eat load of choc and sweets, no doubt IF I could get myself motivated to eat only healthy low calorie foods I would restart my weight loss
  23. Hi sher the medication is because at one stage I had my band overfilled and it caused night time reflux, I have now have had quite a lot taken out but still sometimes get reflux even though I take omeprazole every evening, the dissadvantage is that I have stopped loosing weight
  24. I.ve been on omeprazole at double usual dose from about 6 months now they really help but have'nt cured it enough to get a top up fill, but I would strongly recommend them.
  25. Hi Gary and Freckles, and all you newbies, its great hearing all your news. WOW gary you have done amazing 9 and a half stone you must be so please that you took that step on Fri 13th. SORRY i have'nt kept intouch but I've only just got back after a six week holls. My weight is still static, but I'm quite happy at this level, even if it is higher than I first would have expected. I'm still having issues with night cough and reflux so its better for me not to have the band any tighter.
