Hi tamisu, just saw your visitor post re the annual review, I had mine done via spire hospital Cardiff, it cost ?160, and consisted of a xray to determine whether the band was still in the correct position, I had to drink a barium which showed the rate of flow through the band, plus the table tilted back to show if anything could come back up through the band, which is also verry important.

The band was also checked for corrosion, and any fill would have been included within this price. Hope this info helps.

  2. OH poor fatpants, I was really sorry hear how much pain you've been through, and so glad it was all solved once you had medical attention at hospital, I know just how you feel about the unfill but once the swelling goes down you can then restart your fill programe. Your BMI is much lower now so the rush for us to lose weight is not as great. I had to leave it at least 4 weeks before contemplating a partial refill but health and comfort is most important. I'll let you know how I go about the refills my first is on the 26th Feb, but before then I have another consultation and xray just to ensure the gullet is healthy enough to take the strain and strong enough to push any food through the band. Take care get well again, and we'll carry on this journey together. mmmxxx
  3. I've had to have a few defills the first .5ml did'nt work so 2 weeks later 2ml was removed, and because of gullet swelling this also did not work so a month later I had a total defill which did work, so in all close to 2 months. I have put weight back on,but will shortly be able to have a useful fill again because by now all swelling should have gone. I hardly slept for these 2 months because most nights were disturbed by coughing up mucus. No long term damage had been caused, but I'm going to take things a lot slower now. :rolleyes2:
  4. TO all reflux sufferers, when I had the consultation regarding reflux and the subsequent xray it was proven that the band had been overfilled, and this caused the reflux (which I knew), the fluid coming back at night was caused by the gullet over working to push any fluid and food through the band, and was taking 5 hours to get somethings through, therefore everything was backing up along the gullet, It was said that if I had attempted to overeat during this time it could have caused an extended pouch or a band slip. A xray showed the rate of flow of food through the band at different fill levels, these levels are specific to me and were 4.8mls and under, no restriction whatsoever, and at 6ml ok, but tight over this level I start to encounter backup and therefore reflux. These levels will change as I lose weight, but for now there is no way I can go over 6ml. As I said this is specific to me, but even an unfill below 6ml did not solve the reflux because by then the gullet had become irritated and overworked, so a fill level of 4.8ml (the level of no restriction for me) was chosen, whilst everything calmed down. I now no longer have any reflux, but I also dont have any restriction, but this is a long journey, and this year I'll no doubt be loosing weight sometime again.
  5. Is it really swollen, if its like a small bump its what I had, and ok, if it gets really large, grapefruit sized or larger its more like what Gary had, I'm sure he'll be on later to advise. Cankster, am I right and your a guy, if so the op is different for guys and you get an extra cut/scar, I think Gary went to GP so he's the one to answer you.
  6. Second chance it is then, apology accepted mmmxxx

  16. Fills are done at quite a lot of venues monthly, but weekly I think in London, there should be one not too far from you Gary might have the list for the north of the country. You will be given a list together with email details and phone numbers before you leave the hotel, the first fill is usually arranged 1-2 months post op, Good luck,
  17. I Oliverdog, I'll tell you all I know, I dont know if he actually works for Dr Chris, but I know he works with him assisting together with fred. He came to my room pre op to let me know that Fred had been delayed, and to do my consultation, Fred came a little later and collected the money. Post op Chris Deprez came again to the hotel room to do the post op consultation. All the bandfills in Newport and some other venues are done by him (fred takes over when he's on holls). He's not French or Belgian, I think he's dutch, but cant remember what he said now, he has a young family (so not available) I make my appointments directly with him via his e.mail address if you want it I'll pm you. He also does fills for other consultants patients, so at Newport some of the others in the waiting room have had their band done elsewhere in Belgium. So thats it, you know as much as me now, which isnt much but it help to build a picture.

  25. Good for you scooby doo, I can only speak from experience, and of course it all depends on the type of work you do, but I was driving a few days post op, worked for a few hours - administrative - within 4 days and resumed full time (transport manager - own company) in 1 week, someone younger (i'm 53) might be able to resume earlier, but i needed the full week.
