    PRE OP DIET SUCKS!

Thankfully my pre-op diet is only two days of clear fluids. So that's today and tomorrow, then surgery on Friday morning. I've been drinking Isopure, Water and Powerade Zero. I feel like I will float away from so much Fluid. I'm not really hungry, but I really missed my coffee this morning. Maybe this time of year wasn't the best time to get surgery..lol. We are getting yummy baskets of food almost every day at work. We pushed our holiday party to yesterday so I could be a part of it, so that was awesome. I am really looking forward to the feeling of being full easily . So excited and nervous.
  3. Just wanted to say that's my day as well! So excited!
  4. I went to my last appointment on 10/31 and was scheduled for surgery for 12/12/14. Then had to wait for approval. Got the approval on 11/6. I was so happy at first, now I'm not sure. I've been wanting to have WLS for years now. I'm scared. The rational me knows that everything will be just fine. The irrational me thinks the opposite. There's so many changes in my life right now. I had to quit smoking to have this surgery. So I've been 5 weeks smoke free. Huge change. We just bought a house on Saturday. Our settlement will be on 1/5/15. I am so nervous about how I will get the entire current house packed up, fixed up and ready for a renter by then. We just brought a ton of boxes home and I'll start packing this weekend. Just all in all I am a nervous wreck. I'm nervous about how I'll look after. I'm nervous that being thin will age me. I'm nervous that my double chin will turn into yucky floppy skin. Nervous about getting compliments and questions and not knowing how to respond. I guess all this nervousness is normal. I'm hoping it will be replaced by the excitement.

    Calling All (Tobacco) Smokers...

I did all my testing and the last thing to was quit smoking. I went to my physician and she gave me a prescription for Wellbutrin. I started it 10 days before my quit date. I smoked at least a pack a day for over 20 years. On 10/6/14 was my quit date. I haven't smoked since. The Wellbutrin must help a ton because I didn't have the insane cravings and withdrawal like I had when I tried to quit before. 2 weeks later I had my tobacco test and passed. Just got my approval and surgery date for 12/12/14. Still waiting for that super miracle where breathing and life all around is so much better without smoking. Not happening. I enjoyed smoking. I never thought I could quit. I don't plan on smoking again, mostly because of my kids. I'm so happy I had the surgery as a huge motivator to quit. You can do this! It's not easy. The reward at the end is huge!

    Psych eval

I had my psych eval yesterday. It was about two hours long. I first had to do a "test" with lots of questions (about 400). Then we talked for about an hour and a half. I felt so much better as I left there. He told me that my choice of surgeon was excellent and he will 100% recommend me for the surgery. We talked about my support system for after surgery, work stress, stress eating, past diets, my childhood, relationship issues that can appear after surgery. He asked me to call him if there are any issues with my husband after and not to wait to talk to someone. He was great. Definitely the appointment I was dreading, but love the way it turned out.
  7. I've been a member here for a long time, since I began thinking about having lap band (2008 I think). It's now 2014 and I have finally decided to have WLS. I went to the informational emetine last October wanting Lapband, after lots of research I decided that getting sleeved would be a better idea. I finally had my first appt. on May 8. My surgeon said surgery would be about the end of October or early November. I'm scared, I'm excited. The last couple of months have been so stressful that I've only lost 1 pound since my first appt. I'm worried. I still need a couple more things for testing. I also need a letter of support from my doctor. I'm nervous that she won't give it to me and she's the only doctor I've been too in almost 5 years. So here's my stats: I'm 40 years old 5'5" 260 pounds Size 16 , I can't wait to have this surgery and one day post before and after pics. Everyone here is so inspiring.
  8. I have been wanting to have lap band for a long time. The group plan at my husband's office excluded it from the policy. We are getting our own policy on April 1 (Care First Blue Choice). Right now I have a 37.8 BMI and no health problems. Is there any chance that I will be approved by the insurance company? Or should I just go ahead and do a self pay? A friend told me it would take at least a year with a new policy to even get an answer. I would hate to wait that long and have no chance at all. Also, if I do self pay and go out of state to get it done, would I just go to a doctor around me for fills and appointments? I have so many questions...lol. but, i'll stop for now. TIA!
  9. I'm new here and kind of confused on what to do. I will be calling my physician tomorrow for a physical. Some background: I am 34, 246, 5'5" and have tried every diet imaginable since I was 10. I was never thin. I've never had health problems related to my weight. Just recently though both of my knees and back have been in pain, so I think it's because of the extra weight. I have Care First Blue Choice HMO so I would want them to cover the lap band (and would love to do it ASAP). What do I need to do? I don't have receipts for programs I've done. I have books (Atkins, South Beach, some other stuff). I never saved receipts for diet pills I tried either. I am so confused...lol. Also I just had a baby last March. I think being pregnant has been my best diet. I lost over 20 pounds with each of my girls (of course gained it all back after delivery). I would love some advice on how to speed up the process and get the ball rolling. Thanks!!! Lana
  10. Well I just got off the phone with the insurance company and they told me that the group administrator excluded bariatric surgery. Now I'm so sad. There's no way I can afford $20k to pay for it.
  11. Thanks everyone for your advice. I actually called my insurance company yesterday and was on hold on and off for almost 2 hours and they never called back. I will try again tomorrow. Do HMO's typically cover weight loss surgeries?
  12. I'm brand new here and just starting to get things going. Things I won't miss: The "WOMEN'S" and "PLUS SIZE" sections in every store. Wearing all black all the time (it's slimming right?). Being jealous of all my very thin friends. Sucking my stomache in. Getting tired too easily. And the most I won't miss just happened a couple days ago. A kid in my daughter's Kinder class told her "your Mom is fat", and it seriously almost killed me. :cursing: Lana
