  1. I got 1 so far which was the hospital bill for $9,900.00. I expect a bill from the physician, anesthesiologist, lab and radiology. Thankfully I have great insurance and had to pay nothing.

    Cry cry cry

My hormones were all over the place. I had surgery on 12/12/14 and I swear I cried almost every day for 2 weeks, then finally it stopped. This too shall pass.
  3. I am almost 3 weeks post and on soft foods until 1/9/15. Can anyone recommend Snacks I can have? Currently I drink a Protein shake for Breakfast, I had some tuna for lunch (sometimes a protein shake) and dinner will be baked fish. I am terrified of overeating, so instead I think maybe I am undereating. I am getting all my protein in and I'm good with Water. So would love some good suggestions on snacks in between meals. Even before surgery I wasn't much of a snacker in between meals, but for some reason I feel like I need it now. ETA: It seems like I can tolerate pretty much anything. Haven't had any issues.

    Snacks?

Thank you all. My plan recommends 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks. I am getting enough Protein because of shakes. I drink the Protein Shakes with Water, not milk. I think the issue is that I am not getting enough calories. 2 protein shakes a day is about 260 calories, plus a meal of about 150-200 calories. So I am only taking in about 400-450 calories a day. Which is why I think I am undereating. I don't even think about eating until mealtime. Like I said I am not a snacker and definitely not a grazer, never have been. My only real craving has been for frozen yogurt. I don't mean yogurt like Fage (which I hate) frozen.

    PROTEIN SHAKES

I use Chike. I tried it with milk and it's way to thick. I like them with plain Water over lots of ice.

Scared to Death for Post Op

I was sleeved on 12/12/14 and I was terrified before it. Going back and forth about cancelling it and being crazy excited. Thankfully I didn't have a pre-op diet besides 2 days of Clear liquids right before the surgery. The day of the surgery I felt much better about it for some reason. My surgeon was wonderful, came in to talk to me , we played a prank on the nurse and it was a very calm environment. I woke up from anesthesia very easily and felt just fine. Almost like nothing happened. My DH showed me pics the dr. gave him of my stomach prior and post surgery (gross). I felt no nausea at all. And I am one who throws up very easily. Spent both of my entire pregnancies throwing up. I was able to walk very soon after walking up with no problems. Anyway, there were no complications. After I got home I wasn't even sure if the surgeon did anything. I had two 1/2CM incisions and another inside my bellybutton that I couldn't see, there was some glue though. No pain. Took painkillers once in the hospital at night to sleep. About 2 1/2 weeks out now and still no issues besides a bit of constipation. Hope your surgery goes great!
  7. I was sleeved on 12/12/14. Right from the beginning I had no problem drinking water or protein shakes (though I hate them). I had to force myself to sip because I would forget. I never felt any kind of restriction or full feeling. When I started purees a few days ago...still no restriction. Today I made the ricotta bake. I ate about a tablespoon and a teaspoon of whitefish salad and I felt stuffed and uncomfortable and happy. It was absolutely delicious. I was starting to think that the surgery didn't go as it should have. Just had to tell someone who would understand.

    No caffeine ever?

My nutritionist recommended Chike as good tasting Protein drinks. I bought the samples, and loved the coffee flavored one. I've been having it every morning since the surgery on 12/12. I just realized that a shake has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. Do I need to stop drinking it? I haven't felt any ill effects from it. It's the only Protein Shake that I actually enjoy.
  9. I also chose to be honest. I just don't care what people think. I know tons of people that have been taking diet pills for years, if those are the ones that want to judge me, then so be it. I can't look at someone's face and just lie, it's not in me to do that. If it's someone that I just don't know, I'll just say thanks and move on. My BFF had Lap-Band about 7 years ago and told noone but myself and her husband. Still now people ask me if she had surgery, and I have to lie and say not that I know of. Such an uncomfortable situation. I know this was not an easy way out. If people want to think that, that's on them, not me.
  10. I had a sleeve. I should change that Lap-Band thing since I never had it. That just shows how long I've been considering getting WLS...lol. I am still not feeling the restriction with all soft foods. I did go to a restaurant twice this weekend. At Japanese I had some Miso Soup broth (had the whole bowl) and ordered seared tuna for dinner. I had about 3 slices, then I was full. We went to an italian seafood place yesterday. I ordered a cup cream of crab and ate about 4 teaspoons, then had a few bites of orange roughy and I could barely breath. My MIL was with us and automatically said that she was worried because it too little food. You really notice how much more you used to eat while watching how others still eat.
  11. It's a scary feeling after going through all this. Now I've been stalled already for the last 4 days.

    Cream of Wheat nightmare! Help!

My nurse said to always have Papaya Enzyme on hand. It works quick when you feel like something is "stuck". I have it at home but haven't had to use it yet.

    where do you live?

Born in Russia. Came to the US on December 17, 1980. I was 6 years old. Been living in Baltimore, Maryland for a long time now.
  14. I went back to work today, had surgery on 12/12. I decided to shorten my day. I was exhausted. Will try to stick it out tomorrow.

    Will I always be cold?

I am only a week out, but I am constantly hot. Hotter then even before the surgery. I'm in MD and it's not hot here.

    My Ongoing Story :)

Hi Becky. Just read this entire thread. I am so so sorry for everything that you've been going through the last couple of years. You seem like such a strong young lady. You are in my thoughts and I hope that everything starts to turn around for you.

    Feeling unprepared!

At first I wasn't happy that I had to to the 6 month schedule for approval. Looking back it gave me the time to be ready for the surgery. I also had to stop smoking. I smoked for 20 years. I asked my physician for Wellbutrin. I quit 10 days later, couldn't believe how easy it was. If you aren't quite ready, can you schedule the surgery like a month later?

    Protein

My Dr. said to use only Whey protein isolate shakes. The nurse said it was better for hair not falling out down the road. I see lots of people here use the Premier Shakes, that don't have the isolate. Is it just my doc?
  20. I'm feeling the same way. I was sleeved on 12/12/14. I can get fluids down really easily, including protein shakes. I haven't really had to do little sips. It's gotten me worried that something is wrong. After I see my dr. on Friday I should start purees. Would there me a more restrictive feeling with that?

    Shirataki Noodles

They sell them in Asian markets around here.
  22. peki31

    Shirataki Noodles

I've tried them and they are OK. Kind of slimy and tough. I really prefer spaghetti squash instead. For me it's a much nicer texture and actually good for you.

    Protein!

I had Chike coffee shake today. 2 scoops mixed with Water over ice. It was excellent. First time since my surgery (12/12/14) that I was able to drink a whole Protein drink. It wasn't super sweet like the rest of the Protein drinks. Only problem is it only has 20 grams of protein per shake. Can anyone recommend an unflavored powder I can put in yogurt or pudding?
  24. So my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 AM (YAY). What do I bring to the hospital. With thinking about so many other things, I haven't thought about what I need for the hospital.
  25. Thank you guys! I'm an overpacker, but I'm trying not to. Are any clothes OK after surgery?
