  1. Hi All, I actually have tried the UnJury powder. I am having surgery on the 30th of this month and have been searching for the right powder pre-op. I actually love the unjury. I stocked up this weekend. The powder mixes very well and is very smooth. There is not grit or powdery taste at all.
  2. Hello everyone, I am scheduled for surgery on 4/30. This past week I had a spouse of a CRNA express concern about my choice of surgeons. It actually freaked me out a little bit. She suggested I do my 'due dilligence' and look at complication rates etc. I have done all that, in fact did it before I selected Dr. Ray. Now, it is making me a little freakie. I chose him and his office because they were a 'Center of Excellance' as certified by the American Bariatric Center. Anyway, I would be interested in hearing of anyones experiences with Dr. Ray.
  3. :smile2: Becky, thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I to am a nurse, and you know how we are! I know some of it is probably pre surgey gitters. but the person that told me this kind went out on a limb to do it. however, I also know that she could not have ever really seen Dr. Ray in action.

    Calling all K-Town bandsters!!!

Hi Waynes6, thought I would pop in with an update. My surgery is finally scheduled for 4/30. I had trouble with the office getting it scheduled. I got the letter from the insurance company that I was approved and finally after 12 days and several phone calls, I called the office manager. I was finally scheduled that afternoon. I travel with my job about 50 % of the time and if I do not get things scheduled out 2 to 4 weeks in advance I am in trouble. My preop visit with Dr. Ray is tomorrow. I posted in another forum questions about Dr. Ray. I had someone strongly suggest that I look at another surgeon due to the doctors having lots of complications. It has kind of freaked me out, but I am ready with all my questions tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Wii are ready to work out!

You actually run with just holding the remote. you don't use the balance board. It starts out with 2 minutes then after you do that a couple of time is unlocks a 4 minute run then a 10 minute run. I'll tell you I am sweating and my calfs are burning at the end of 10 minutes. I figure I am a wuss!

Well congratulations! I am totally impressed that you stood up for yourself. I probably would not have even tried. That is cool

Wii are ready to work out!

Oh man, I like that one too! but myfavorite is the bubble in the creek. I have not been able to do it. I am unbalanced. In doing my balance test she does ask me if i trip often. I think that is the real reason they have straps on the controllers. so you don't throw it at the TV! Especially when she goes OH! when you step on.

Wii are ready to work out!

Hey Shelly, You will love it! I got one about a month ago and as you use the Wii fit more and more you unlock other balance games that are addicting. I also like the run and the hula hoop - as long as no one is watching! On the run you are not suppose to pass your Mii that is leading but if you do and the dog is there you start following the dog. Give it a try when you get cleared for exercise! Congratulations!

    Calling all K-Town bandsters!!!

Hey Jodi, I have only seen Dr. Ray once, well twice if you count the edu seminar he did. He seems to be a spirtual/religious kind of guy. That is ok with me as long as he is not pushy with it. Anyway, .. I chose them becasue I wanted a group that was a Center of Exellance. I use to work at Covenant Health and was involved with them when they were getting the Center of Exellance certification. I honestly did not know about Baptist - I don't think they are a COE, but not sure. And that answers the last question - I know WAY to many people at Covenant and do not want to have the surgey there. I kinda believe there is not such thing as 'privace' as my little brother use to say. I have been to several support groups - 1 last night in fact. They paired the pre ops up with a post op so we cousl ask questions and stuff. I ended up with the guy on the web page that has lost 150 pounds. It was way cool and he had a lot of really good things to say and pointers to make. You'll like Dana too - she is the program cordinator (gosh wish I could spell!) she is a band pts and has lost 95 pounds so far. The insurance bs is the worst. Initially they said 6 months, I have BCBS and my work policy required 2. so, after the 6 was up we sent in all the papers and it was denied because my work policy requires 12(in 2 years)! Man was I aggervated. I had to hunt down and stalk this retired doc I had been to early in in 08 and get my chart. It took about 6 weeks and 75 dollars, but I got it and we sent everything in again on 3/2. I expect to hear from them next week. The first request was 2 weeks to the day before we heard and it was over new years day week. I would love to chat too! I have good support, but like they said last night, the ones that really understand are the ones going thru it. keep in touch and I will be thiniking of you on Tuesday.

    Calling all K-Town bandsters!!!

Hey Jodi, Good for you! I actually saw Dr Ray too. All my documentation just got sent to the insurance company. It has been agonizingly slow! Hopefully, I will get an approval soon. Glad to see you are close, perhaps we will run into each other at one of the support groups!
  11. Hi everyone, I am just wondering how long it generally takes from insurance approval to surgery schedule? I have to do that 6 months of dr supervised weight loss thing. I just had visit #5. I am 'assuming' that after #6 the surgeons office will submit the stuff for approval and that should get the ball rolling, but wondered how it goes. My docs office is not the most communicative- that kind of bothers me. I am considering looking else where but hate to start over. I know that I am required to do a few classes but I guess those do not get started until after the insurance approval. what is everyone elses experience?
  12. oh man, that is messed up. I had my psy guy tell me that I also tended toward depression issues. It was not news to me but he did approve me for surgery. The surgeon is the one that wants me to loose 12 to 23 pounds. I always wonder about that - no help in doing it, just lose it. I am frustrated with the whole process right now, so I may not be the best person to give support, but I feel you pain! Have you decided what you are going to do?:grouphug:

    How long DOES it take?

Thanks to everyone that responded! It sounds like perhaps a month to 2 from ins approval and surgery date. it is kinda what I was thinking. To jazzy4Health - Thanks for the words of encouragement witht the communication issue. I am going to call them Monday and insist on knowing the process now that I have only a month of pre stuff to go. It may just be the one girl- if all else fails I will ask for the office manager.
  14. Hello Everyone, I have lurking on the site off and on for a while. I am in the presurgey phase of all this and really starting to get frustrated. My insurance requires 6 months dr supervised weight loos. I have completed 5 months - haven't lost a thing. I really think it is kinda crazy they require that. shoot fire, if I could loose weight when ever I decided I wouldn't be in this shape. So, what have you all done to keep going at it and not get frustrated with the whole process. I am also trying to take in the whole site and it is almost overwhelming! There is so much there and I am afraid I will miss something! Any suggestions as to how to use the site would be apprecitaed too.
  15. Thanks for responding Helen! I so appreciate it. I am off to the questions and answers now.
