    Friday Weigh Ins

Morning Everyone, well I am 3 post my third fill. I weighed 226.8 this morning. At the doctor office I had lost 4 lbs over the last 6 weeks, which was 4 more than I thought I would have lost. The new scale was messing with my numbers. So, I am moving along - slowly but surely. My next fill is in 4 weeks but I hope this one really gets things going.

    Friday Weigh Ins

HI everyone, again I have been MIA. My weight Friday was 227.4. I belive that is about the save. I have been so very frustrated- same - same -same. I have my 3rd fill on wednesday. I did get a new scale and that is messing with the head too. I had the 2 sitting side by side for several weeks and the new one does weigh heavier. I finally bit the bullet and put the old one up. The new one is the same brand as the doc uses and it will give me my % of body fat and hydration. Kinda cool but.. so I am hanign' carol

hi Everyone, Sorry I missed last week. The MIL went in the hospital early Friday am and I did not even think about it! She is out now and doing ok.... anyway, my weight today is 228.6. Essentially no change - for the 4th week. I had a fill last week and can tell a difference but still not down any,

    What Are You Scared Of?

I am afraid of doing all the work and putting the weight back on -AGAIN! I get so mad at myself when I eat unhealthy and make poor choices. I mean good grief, I had to have WLS for goodness sake. You know what I am afraid of more - being an old fat lady that has to ride around the wal-mart in a buggy and I was rapidly headed there. My last trip to Disney I had to ride in a buggy becasue that much walking would have killed my legs and back. So, a day at a time - a fill at a time. Each step is a journey for me and this time I can say it is one I have not take yet becasue this band should help.

    Friday Weigh Ins

HI everyone! I have been MIA from the site. Had a couple of business trips to make and that always gets me messed up. My wwight as of this friday 6/19 is 229 even. I think that is down about a pound. I actually had a 2 pound gain after my fill (2 weeks ago). Shoot fire fuzzy, I can eat more after the fill than I could before! I had been hungry for so long that I over did it for a few days. Still gotta watch myself. I am an afternoon / early evening eater.

April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?

Wow! this is just what I needed to read. I am getting frustrated I am learning the meaning of Bandster Hell! 1. WEIGHT- currently 230.8 which is up a pound. Surgery was 4/30/09. this was the first weight I had put on since surgery. I have lost 35 pounds since the first of the year - 24 since surgery. 2. FILLS- I had one 2 weeks ago. 2 cc's. The really odd thing is I had more restriction BEFORE my fill! WEIRD! He put in several cc's and then pulled it back out. Air came with it and he said that was not unusual. I am thinking the air may have been providing the restriction, or I was still swollen after surgey. I had restriction on the amount I could eat but I got hungry really quickly. I spent weeks being hungry, so when the restriction was essentially gone I am tending to make more unhealthy choices. 3. RESTRICTION-The really odd thing is I had more restriction BEFORE my fill! 4. RULES- I am trying to follow them. I have really been 'jonesing' for a diet pepsi! Tried having one that was not quite flat and it hurt, tried one completely flat - gross! so, I have been trying iced tea sometimes. 95% of the time I do not drink at meals but have found it really hard for some reason when at business meals. 5. ANYTHING ELSE- Joined the gym - well actually the dr office 'gives' you 3 months membership and 3 personal trainer visits. Did my first one and have been doing Water exercise too. Love the water! Had a birthday this month and did have cake- it was good. Looking forward to the next BD in onederland!

    Friday Weigh Ins

Greetings everyone! I weighed exactly the same this week. 233.4. I am ok with that really. I have lost 18.5 since surgery on the 30th of April and I know I need to give my body time to adjust to all the drastic changes. I am finally allowed 'real' food as of yesterday so I thought I would try a scrambled egg for breakfast. OMG! I was sick all day! I have heard some folks can not eat them and then others can. Well I am on the cannot list! I will have my first fill on Wednesday. I wish everyone a wonderful week!

    Hole in my port incision..

Hey JJ, like everyone else I am going to ask what your doc is saying about this. yes, I have heard of it - not necessarily with lapband surgery but that is one of the concerns - with any surgery - is the failure to heal properly. Unfortuneatly, us more fluffy folks tend to suffer from this more. Does he know you are cleaning it with Hydrogen Peroxcide? sometimes it will actually damage new tissue as it is trying to heal so you gotta be careful with it. Please call them today if you have not. Honestly, I doubt they will do a fill with an open wound becasue of the possibility of introducing bacteria into the band itself. My thoughts are with you. Let us know how you do!

    Friday Weigh Ins

233.4 today. That is 3.2. Cool! First fill coming up on 6/3. I am glad I started keeping track by the week. I was honestly surprised.

    Am I alone?

wow, Jaymommy! thank you for this thread. I seem to have restriction with just the band too. I can only eat about 1/2 a cup of stuff before I start getting icky feeling - especially if I eat to fast. I am still on the mushie routine. My first fill is 6/3 and it will be interesting to see it under fluro per fill.

    Furry tongue! And sticking solids...

yeah, I have the bad taste in my mouth furry tongue thing. I am not sure what can be done about it other than brush brush brush. I do think the food will help. I'll keep checking this thread - maybe some of the 'old timers' will give us some suggestions.

    Having surgery tomorrow and scared!

Shearhunny if you were not scared you would not be human! Remember always the decision is yours. I was scared you know what-less too, but I knew that for the past 35 years nothing else had worked for me. I lost the weight - several freakin' times I just could not keep it off. I knew I needed the help and assistance of the band if I wanted to keep it off and be healthy. My only regret is that I did not do it when I first started researching it. My thoughts will be with you tomorrow! Let us know how you do!
  14. Hey Linds, I hate to hear you are having troubles, but hopefully the morphine helps! I did a lot of research on the sleeve before I had the band. Here in the states insurance does not pay for it and honestly that is the only reason I did not have it. The sleeve drasticly reduces the size of the stomach but does not re route the intestines so you can still have an EGD if you need to and you never need a fill :rolleyes2:. It is used also as a first step in the very very morbidly obese for those patients that can not stand the rigors of a full RNY. It's actual name is called vertical sleeve gastrectomy if you want to search on that you will find lots of things to read as you get better. Good luck to you!

    Still tired?

Hey Mominkansas, yepper! I was banded on 4/30 and am still feeling tired. I think for me part of it is the major surgery part and the drastic change in food intake. It does seem to be better since I can have mushies. I try to get a bit of carbs with my protein for the energy. I am glad to see from the other posts that this to will pass.

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Oh wow, Kitty Girl, I so know what you mean about the milk thing! I was so having the same issue. It started with the liquids because I was using milk in soups and shakes to get the protein! I finally thought I would try Lactaid, it is an over the counter pill that you take with your first bite (drink :rolleyes2:) and for me it worked like magic. Before surgery, I did not drink milk, my mom even told me that I quit drinking it after I stopped taking a bottle and that was a long long long time ago. Hang in there and good luck with your fill! I am not scheduled for my first one till 6/3.

    Friday Weigh Ins

I weighed in at 236.6. That is 2 pounds this week I believe. I have been keeping track of it from 'since surgery' . I am going to start the weeking tracking thing too. It has been 12 since surgery, 10 the first week and 2 this.

What rules were you given for the lifetime diet?

I think it is interesting all the different ways the different docs say! Here is mine. 1. No drinking _0__ min. before meals? 2. No drinking _30__ min. after meals? 3. Must drink _64__ oz. per day? 4. Protein ___ oz. or grams, per meal or per day? I was given grams not ounces - nutritionist said 60 doc says 90. 5. Total meal size _1/4 to 1/2__ cups or ounces per meal? 6. Snacks or no snacks between meals? no snacks except protien shakes 7. Calories __no guide lines given_ per day? 8. Any other rules? nope
  19. Hi Everyone, I am a whole 13 days post op. I have been on liquids for the entire time and I do seem to have some restriction. heck I get full on Soup. Anyway, in 2 days I can start soft and progress to solid foods in 2 weeks. I am finding that I am scared about it - anyone else been there or am I being a wus. :smile2: I know to chew, chew, chew etc but for some reason I am scared about it. Any suggestions what foods to start with?
  20. I am 13 days post op and have been taking the chewable vitimans the doctor supplied but will look for something to swallow when that runs out. I can not stand liquid/chewable stuff due to the taste! I am one of those that asks the doc for a pill for cough. :smile2: I have been taking the calcium petites and am not having an issue with them. They were recommended by the nutritionist. My doc and nutritionist wants us to take calcium citrate because it is easier to absorb. They go down easy and so far are not causing issues. I do have a mild restriction so I do not take them with meals. The reason not to take Advil or any non steroidal pain reliever(aleve etc) is because the pills sit in the pouch - a much smaller area- and they are very stomach toxic. If there is a medical reason to take them the doc can perscribe a stomach 'protectant' like carafate or some such. Hope this helps and does not sound preachy. :tt2:

    Dates only

    April 30th 2009!!!!
  22. Hi guys, I gotta tell you I have been true to my post op plan. I am scared not to. I have had a lot of post op gass pains and actually had - lets say - bowel issues the first week. I had surgey on the April 30th and I am still on liquids. I added some peanutbutter to a shake and was worried about that. - I Know - whimpy. :mad2: I get to start mushies on Friday of this week. I am glad but also a little scared. I still get that vagel-ly feeling sometimes when I eat.

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Thanks MiMi! I am glad to hear it. I am still so gasey I am not fit to be in public! Heck even the dogs don't want to be around me. Absolutely everything I put in my mouth causes me to feel bloated. I know it will get better, but man I wish it would hurry. On a serious note, IsItWorth it - yes please call your doctor. You should not be vomiting. My doc sent me home with phenergan supp. to prevent it. They did not even want me retching in the recovery room. Your band can slip and cause serious problems to your stomach. Let us know how you are doing?! Did you call yet?

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Hello Everyone! I am 3 days post op today I finally felt like reading and catching up on the site. It is very helpful to read about everyone's process. It gives me an idea of how long this belchy, gassey feelings are going to go on. Each day is better. I had my gallbladder out a couple of years ago and I kinda thought the surgery would be about the same, but this has been harder. I am on liquids for 2 weeks and working on getting my protein in. I actually gained 5 pounds the day after surgery - they did give me lots of IV fluids. I lost that the first day and am down 2 more today. I say someone posted that they really over did it prior to surgery. I did to. I had lost 20 pounds since the first of the year but then put on 6 with all my 'last' meals. I siwtched myslef to liquid tylenol from the lortab becasue i figured the narcotic was increaseing the gas pains. I have tried gas x, but probably not enough. I think I will increase that too. I really appreciate you all sharing because it has made it easier on me - knowing that my post op course is about average. I am totally impressed by you guys that are already back to work. I have the luxuary of taking off 2 weeks. I could not stand the thought that I would have to go back to work tomorrow. well, I am off to see if I can figure out how to add a ticker to my sig file!

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Hello Everyone! I just found the thread, I don't get to the site nearly as often as I would like. My surgery is the 30th of this month so I am just going to make it into the Bunnies. I have enjoyed reading everyones surgery stories and honestly it helps with the 'scareds' I travel for work a lot and will be on the road all this week- I do not have to do the pre surgery liquid diet since I lost 20 lbs but I have stocked up on protein powder for post op. I'll be home from this trip on Thursday - a week preop. The doc wants me to wash my abdomen with hibeclens twice a day for 7 days so I'll be working on that! I can't wait!
