Furry tongue! And sticking solids...

Recommended Posts

A bit yucky, but just wondering if anyone else is having this side effect? I have noticed quite a build up of stuff on my tongue. Sometimes it is so thick at the back that it feels a bit like there is something I need to swallow in my mouth. Disgusting.

My husband has told me in the nicest way that my breath is smelly... I've been using a mouthwash and trying to scrape my tongue clean but it isn't clearing up.

I wonder if it is being caused by the relatively small amount of food going in. But does anyone know what might be causing it? I'm drinking plenty of Water most days.

I am starting back with solids again and I'm able to eat quite a bit more now, so maybe that will improve it.

Incidentally, I ate some pork meat yesterday and didn't chew it well enough. It didn't get stuck or come back up, but it must have been a squeeze to get through as it was quite sore in my chest for a few minutes. It wasn't like massive pain, but I did get quite scared. The same thing happened with a bit of cooked spinach another day - I think the stalk was too fibrous. I haven't had a fill yet. Anyone else having this sort of thing?

x

The puppy breath and tongue are due to Ketosis (low carb diet)...your body is burning fat...it's a good thing.

Early I was getting that pain sometimes to just enough you know it's there but not so bad that you rhaving a heart attack or stuck (I got stuck once and the pain is worse and you know the foods not going to go down) I was concerned but since it wasn't like the other 2 I discribed looked at it as my band communicating telling me to slow down and take smaller bites.

yeah, I have the bad taste in my mouth furry tongue thing. I am not sure what can be done about it other than brush brush brush. I do think the food will help.

I'll keep checking this thread - maybe some of the 'old timers' will give us some suggestions.

I had furry teeth like you wouldnt believe until I started on real solids. I think its from lack of saliva from chewing.

I too have had this from a low carb diet. It is also a by-product of not enough liquid. Make sure to drink enough Water, that should help the furry mouth.

Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
