Banded 12-31-09
Now very doc is different so I'm only telling you what mine ok'd, I was told that I could eat tuna and chicken from the can as long as it was moist and I chewed REALLY well. The canned version is in a juice so Just didn't drain it.

I can eat just about anything...
Slider foods to me are anything that slides down, now obviously some are have great nutritional value like yogurt and cottage cheese and others like cookies and chips have none but in moderation we can eat anything... That's the beauty of the band.

Ugh!!! I can't believe you doc does not have a post op plan.. Right now it's about healing so nothing chunky because you don't want the stomach to churn. I'm at work or I would send you the phases my surgeon gave to me. If anyone else on this post has theirs please pass it on. Creamy Soups, yogurt, applesauce, and Protein drinks were acceptable on mine. Private message me your email and I will send you all my info.

Depends on what you're over indulging in, if it's bread then yes you probably need a fill but if it's a slider food then restriction can't do much for you. Of course this is just my individual experience.

Cereal?
If you want cereal why not just have it... I guess MY opinion is that I just eat whatever I want but smaller portions. That's the beauty of the band, you don't have to deprive yourself of the foods you love..... Again this is just my opinion!

Oatmeal, farina, cream of wheat?
Every surgeon is different but mine was ok with cream of wheat.

8 Month Anniversary, How's everyone doing?
Banded on March 24th I have lost 120 lbs... Includes pre op loss. I can't believe I'm soon to be under 250! I signed up to run a half marathon in May so I have been busy training for that. I still only have had 1 fill and have no plans on getting another until after May. I'm finding that I need to eat more to keep up my energy during training and I don't want any added restriction. I'm no longer looking at the scale, just focusing on training! Other New Years resolutions are to get off all processed foods, recycle get quotes on getting all this skin removed and continue making exersise a non negotiable habit!! 2010 is going to be a great year!!!

do i need revision?
I wonder if they are correct on your fill number, I know we're all different but If you aren't eating sliders or drinking your calories and your exercising, seems like you should be losing something.

Needing Breakfast ideas
Jachut, I just found Greek yogurt and I love it!!! It's so mouse like and I have added my own flavoring to it and also use it in replace of sour cream. Someone mentioned oatmeal.. And I just wanted to add that you can mix your protein powder in it.

do i need revision?
4pyes... What types of foods are you eating. Are you eating solids instead of sliders, are you drinking while you eat and are you sure your fill level is correct? I can only speak from my experience with the band but I have to focus on eating solids not sliders, exercise 3-4 times a week and if I stay true to the lapband guidelines I will lose weight. But if I eat sliders I consume too many calories and don't lose or maintain. I have had one fill and I cannot eat more then a cup of solid foods but I can eat a bag of chips. Sorry my ticker has not been updated, My current weight is 255.

Help on a Situation, food bully
Well I agree with a lot of what others have said.. My husband is very supportive of my decision but he is over 400 lbs and is not ready to go the surgery route. At one point I told him that his eating habits were bringing me down... But at our last support group session we had an addictions specialist speek and boy did I have an awakening... My husband does not force me to eat bad foods, he does not hold my fork... I cannot fix him he has to fix himself... I have to have my own control during those situations. Now it doesen't help my cause but he is not the root of my problem. And it's not easy to make good food choices when others around you are not but that's life.. And I have started noticing that my good habits are affecting him in a positive way!! Is it a perfect arrangement... No. But I have to focus on me!....the more he sees my sucess the more he wants to change. Good luck..

Surgery to First Fill Weightloss???
I didn't get my first fill for almost 8 months and lost 75 lbs
-
No fill ever??
I had my surgery in March and just got my first fill 2 weeks ago, up untill last month I had good restriction, lost 70lbs. There is definately a mental aspect to it as well. When I got my fill I told my surgeon not to tell me how much he was putting in.. Again this is also something that can be mental, I see people focus too much on the amount if their fill and comparing it to other bandsters fills and I just don't want to put myself through that.

Coming Back
Hey Joe.... Getting back on track with the band is sure a heck of a lot eassier then without. I start off every morning with a protein drink or oatmeal with protein powder mixed in and lunch is usually a chicken wrap or shredded bbq chicken in a pita and dinner might be a small piece of meatloaf with brocolli. I don't concentrate on calories but I do make exercise a priority, 4 times a week. I only weigh once every 2 weeks and in between meals if I think I'm hungry but not sure if it's real hunger or head hunger I drink a cup of chcken broth and more times then not it keeps me from snacking in between meals...I'm not perfect but I'm determined. One other thing... Don't feel guilty for falling off plan. Guilt leads to giving up.. So if you have a bad meal just turn around and fix it. If you really want that piece of chocolate eat it and enjoy the heck out of it... But never feel guilty about it.. Good luck and feel free to pm me anytime...
