  1. Happy 67th Birthday vonnie150!

  2. I had the same thing just last week after a bout with a stomach virus. It was so bad I could not keep even water down. Finally 2 days ago I saw my doctor & he took all the water out of my balloon. he says my vomiting with the stomach virus probably caused the band to slip. I had an upper gi today & will go see him again next week, I am scared to death he will have to leave the water out or else I will need another surgery.
  3. the worse thing I believed was the advertisement for miracle diet pills, I probably tried everyone on the market. They should be banned by the fda.

    Mac and Cheese anyone?

I love mac & cheese. Now I can eat only about 1/2 cup & am completely satisfied. In fact I can eat just about anything just in smaller quantites. The only thing that gives me problems is steak, roast beef, scrambled eggs.

How did you determine your "goal weight"?

I set my goal at 150 due to the fact that several times I would lose down to 150 & always felt I looked great, so I wanted to get down to that again after the lap band. Luckily I am 135 & have maintained for 18mos.
  6. I too have a distorted body image. I am 15 lbs below my goal & wear a 4 or 6 pants, yet I feel fat due to all the loose hanging skin. Thank God my abdomen has always been reasonally flat so I dont have much flabby tissue there. My arms were huge so now they have lots of flabby skin & I'm never comfortable in sleeveless blouses. I still feel fat ever though everybody tells me how skinny i am. My lap band was almost 3 yrs ago.

  9. You should definately call your MD Monday. Its not normal to not keep liquids down. Most peole dont have much of an appetite first week or so.

My Doctor Really Pushed for RNY

I agree, you need to find another doctor who is more familiar with lap band. Just becsause a doctor is friendly and personable does not mean he is up on the latest procedures. Obviously he is bias against lap band. Also his fees would be double to triple for RNY>:phanvan

    Any smokers out there?

I quit smoking 18 yrs ago after smoking for 28 yrs. I started at age 14 in order to fit in with my friends at the time. When I finally quit I was smoking 2-3 packs per day. I got my mind ready first. I knew it was really going to be hard. Harder than dieting. I always bought cigs by the carton & always had at least 1 carton ahead. I told myself when I ran out I was never going to pick up another cigarette. I ran out at 3pm one day & it was my last. I started exercising alot, drinking water & avoiding places & events that would make me want to smoke. It took a good 6 mons before I realized I had not thought about a cigarette all day. I then knew I had it beaten. I know it is hard to break an addiction but it can be done with perseverance. There is a really good book called Five Simple Steps to Emotional Healing by Gloria Arenson. It has helped me lose those last 20 lbs by cutting out my daily sweets.. If it had been around when I quit smoking I know it would have helped.

    Excess Skin?

Good luck with your surgery. I was 59 when I had my surgery so I have alot of flabby skin especially on my arms. At 24 yrs your skin should shrink without problems. be sure to do some form of exercise to develop muscles where the flab was.
