  1. that is funny Rain, how did he not know? anyway I stayed the same as last weight, even though i lived on ice chips for 2 weeks, and so he told me i could advance my diet and not to be afraid to eat and so when I left there i stopped at wegmans and bought a rottiserie chicken and some cottage cheese. came home and had like three bites of each and got stuck!!!! I was mortified, I started salivating and thought I was going to throw up, did nose breathing yada yada, took small sips of iced tea and went in the bathroom and pb'd. OMG, I was so scared and still am. hope my band is still in place. wow. so slow and steady. I have nothing in the band,so i must still be swollen. anyway I go back in 6 weeks, so i'll probably be back up by then too.....

  8. Oh believe me when I say I am in nooooo hurry at all and they did give me alot of fluid, they were checking my lungs contantly for fluid overload, I was like a sponge, just hanging onto every drop and still sooo thirsty. I didn't realize what bad shape i was in till now that it is over and I feel normal again, it has been so long since i was normal i didn't realize how bad it was. for any newbies out there let me be your example of what you dont do.
  9. talk about a cruel world sometimes, after not eating for a couple weeks and still on liquids, I have managed to gain weight, up to 192. something, dont even remember cause i was in shock. oh well anything is better that what i just went thru, even 7 lbs. the doc said they were pushing fluid fast and my body is hanging on to it till it know i am hydrated, yeah right...lol
  10. So here I am, like vet said I am home, actually just walked in the door 7:30 pm. long drawn out day. I am very sore, but have to say for a 3 hour surgery its not as bad as the first one. no port and no gas pain. I am sick, have bronchitis, laryngitis, and sore throat due to asperating bloody acid from my stomach during the nights. they tested my coffee ground reflux and it was defenitely blood. I am very happy my band was able to be revised, because when I went in the o.r. he wasn't sure if it had to come out or not. I have to watch for fever in case there is a puncture in my stomach, although he doesnt think so, he even scoped me when I was under. Thanx for all the support from everyone, sure meant alot. and a special hoorah to Vet for holding my hand on the phone thoughout this process, I luv ya gurlfriend! will keep you all posted, on liquids till he says otherwise, maybe fri. got to get an appt for next week to see him.XXXXXXOOOOOO to all.
  11. its sunday afternoon and i had another bad night and I called hoff and he said to come to the er he is doing surgery in the am. hopes to do a revision but may come out.. talk to you soon, I'm so scared, please say a prayer..
  12. I had a barrium swallow today cause i have been having extreme reflux and even couldn't swallow water at times. they said it is pretty bad and i have to stay on liquids for 2 weeks and will probably have to have surgery. I am soo scared, has any one else experienced this and how did you do. any advice is so greatly appreciated. they said if they try to tighten it again it will probably slip again. they totally deflated me today. what causes this..
  13. I'm surprised the doc would do it without pre authourization. did you have a revision or a replacement?
  14. For me the symptoms were not being able to swallow anything, not even water. it was total obstuction. But like Scott said a barrium swallow will be the concluding factor.

    Am I too tight??

dont do what I did and get too tight to lose weight, now look at me, I have a slipped band and may never be the same, take it slow and steady and you will reach your goal. I only hope i can have a revision and get back on track, and believe me it will be nothing but slow and steady for me if I get a second chance.:wink2:
  16. Oh thanx teacher, what is the difference between a revision and a rebanding? do you know the stats on revision, does it usually work as well as the first band?:wink2:
  17. it is, I wish I knew some one who knew about this and statistics on revision etc. I am frustrated cause I dont know what to expect
  18. about the same today, had heartburn last night again and today I still feel restriction with water. not as bad as before since they removed all the fluid yesterday but it is still not going thru like it should. I am so depressed, I just dont know what is going to happen and the unknown is scary to me.....
  19. Thanx val, thats all I can do is hang in there, hopefully it will go back into place and hold a fill, but barb was pretty sure it won't, so one day at a time I guess. I see several people on here who have had slipped bands and most had them replaced. some more than once! I dont know about that but I would be willing to give it one more try.
  20. thanx again scott, I cannot imagine my life without the band either and now I am hearing that insurance does not always pay for a rebanding, and that scares the crap out of me. I have such terrible hearburn right now and all im drinking is water and broth, but my stomach is so swollen that I think it is just sitting in my chest...

    Band Slipped:(

I too was just told my band slipped, i couldnt get water down and was losing weight fast. i had 3 unfills in the last week and was still having terrible reflux so they did a fluro today and found the slip, i go back tues and I guess discuss options of surgery or not, good luck to you, I know what u r going thru.
  22. thanx for getting back to me scott as you know there arent too many people to talk to about this since we are the minority. I still dont know how this happened, cant find much about it online even. do u know? I too couldn;t keep water down it was miserable. I hear alot of people go in right away for surgery so why is my doc waiting and having me come back tues. he says sometimes they correct themselves but usually will not hold a fill without prolapsing again. Im glad I have u too talk too.... thanx vicki PS also, is there any complications or negatives to having the band replaced, or is it just like getting it the first time. is the surgery as painful as the first one.
  23. Hey Maria, glad to see u back, this forum is getting pretty lonely lately, no, she didn;t say why and ive been trying to find a forum on here that would tell me something but haven't been succesful. I even googled it and it only says a complication of gastric band. I will ask more questions tues. when I go. I cant believe I am totally deflated and still having problems with fluids, it is really scary. How r u doing?
