    Titanium Staples? and brief intro

I have UHC also and they first do not cover the surgery as we have less than 60 participants as I work for a small company. If we did hae 60 participants we would need to elect to coer WLS. Not sure why any insurance company would not coer as it eliminates so many health issues. They'll figure it out one day!

I am going with the sleeve because I did not want the hassle of the follow-up that the lap band required and I did not want the malabsorbtion issues that go along with bypass. After researching all weight loss surgeries I heard more positive about the sleeve even though it is a relatively newer procedure.
  3. I called a local health food store and they don't carry the Isopure but they do carry LLP. Anyone had this one? I understand that it has 15 grams of protein per 2 tablespoon serving. Do you just take the 2 tablespoons as if it were liquid vitamins (is it a liquid or a powder???) or do you mix it with something? How many servings do you need to take per day? I am trying to get an idea of how many bottles to buy.

Rosebud2 mentioned Ramen noodles and that reminded me of something my Mother turned me on to when my kids were small. When the noodles are cooked, turn off the heat and add 2 eggs to the pot and stir for a minute or so. MMMMMMM...soooo good. I think this would work whether you are using the noodles or not.
  5. Oh man! Me too! I still can't decide if I'm more nervous or excited. I keep reading the message boards to get inspiration from all the losers.

  6. June 4th is the big day. I am excited and nervous. BUT...I am so looking forward to getting this fat off and keeping it off!!!

    Jumping With Joy!!!!!!!!!

Thank God cuz I would have been pissed if I could have gotten a better deal by calling him direct!!!!! I am a bargain queen but not willing to sacrifice quality in this type situation.

    Jumping With Joy!!!!!!!!!

Are you saying that once you find a doctor and have researched him/her, instead of going through the agency that probably brought that doctor to you attention you should go direct to the doctor? I was curious about this but I received what I thought was a great price for an even greater Dr. in using Ready4AChange for surgery with Dr. Zapata that I just decided to let it be. Could I have gotten a better price going direct? Or did I et lucky as it was by stubbling across Ready4AChange?

    Anyone from Jacksonville???

Was the $500 a non-refundable deposit like Dr. Chappano charges? This is not covered by insurance from what I understand. How long after insurance approval did it take to get the surgery done? I would consider Dr. Baptista, although the location is a bit further than I wanted to travel (for fills, checkups, etc) if they could schedule the surgery by December 31st. If I have to wait until after the first of the year I will likely go with Dr. Chappano for the convenience of the location. I wonder if there is a difference of opinion between doctors on frequency and amount of fills. Dr. Chappano's seminar did not seem to indicate the higher and more rapid weight loss that I have seen posted by other doctor's patients.

    Jacksonville, Florida

I just came from the seminar at St. Vincent's (Dr. Chappano & Dr. Herrera). I question how much cheaper it is if you have the surgery done at a day surgery center vs the hospital. The total cost here is $17,500 with $10,000 going to the hospital, $5,300 to the doctors and $1,200 for anesthesia. They also charge a $500 processing fee. Do other doctors charge this? My insurance covers the surgery but I may have a slight qualification issue. I'd like to have the surgery done this year as I have already met my deductible. I wonder if the processes prior to surgery are different between doctors?

  17. I have just begun researching lap band surgery as a weight loss option. I think my insurance may cover a portion but won't know for sure until Monday. I have been battling my weight for years and recently quit smoking resulting in a harder battle. I am now at approximately 240 (probably higher since it has been a week since I weighed). I am 5' 7" which puts my bmi around 37. I have a couple of comorbidities but nothing major ????(pain in hips, snoring/possible apnea, and chronic irritation of thigh and groin area). My oldest daughter had gastric bypass surgery @ 24. I always thought I could get a handle on my weight on my own. I quit smoking for my health and now will have the surgery for my health. I hope this process goes smoothly with the insurance company. I hate to go to Costa Rica but I will if I have to. If anyone can recommend an Orange Park doctor that would be great.
