  1. A while back I was encouraged to print pictures of things I wanted in life (new home, new car etc) to keep me on track with my finances. I thought this idea would be great for NSV's. also. Does anyone else have this? I've printed some pictures from yahoo of things I look forward to being able to do again or do for the first time. I'll tape them to a poster board and hang it somewhere I can see it DAILY to remind me during the hard times, that thin will feel good! Things like going skating again, swimming, to the beach, horse back riding, go carts, etc.... It will be fun to add more and then take aways as I can do them!! Anyone else doing this?
  2. Praying for you Gen!!
  3. 2 more days for me too! Well one and half lol. I'm like you, more nervous about failure than the actual surgery. I haven't had time to really worry about the surgery due to trying to be ahead at work and home so I can relax and take care of myself during post op. Liquids tomorrow and nasty prep. Not looking forward to that but THANK GOD I didn't have to do 2 weeks of liquids. Keep me updated on how yours goes!! Do you have a surgery time yet?
  4. I share the same date but not surgeon. Looking forward to keeping in touch as we go through this life changing decision together. I'm so excited!!
  5. WOW!! The Medical Equipment charge!!! Thank God BC didn't allow anywhere near the billed charge. Thanks!!! This gives me some idea of what to expect!!
  6. I'd never heard anything about the shot in the stomach until they mentioned it in our nutrition preop class the other day. I actually had forgotten about it again lol. I hate to hear that you had to deal with so much pain but glad it's gotten better. Keep us updated and send that soup receipe when you can. Congrads on being in band land now. The best is yet to come!
  7. When did you have surgery? --- Will be April 24, 2008 Where did you have surgery? --- St. Vincents East Who performed your surgery? --- Will be Dr. Miles When is your first fill? --- not scheduled yet
  8. That's what I am worried about. I know what I have to pay upfront but I'll be scared to go to the mailbox after it's over. There has to be SOME way for them to give me an estimate! It don't sound like they will allow me to stay the night but I might ask him about it. If you could email the EOB to me that would be AWESOME!! wendy@fourroux.com
  9. Congrads on being banded!! You can find the answers to anything on this site! lol
  10. At our nutrition class last week, we were told that Friday (4/11) would be his first time to use it. The patients were given the option of which one they wanted. I can't remember for sure if he is the only one certified in Alabama but I know she said Dr. Miles is going to the seminar to be certified soon so only Dr. Schmitt patients can get it at this time. I am using Miles ...not sure which is worse.. having the choice of which band or not having a choice lol.
  11. ok books about the lap band...
  12. I was wondering if anyone has any books they recommend? I would like to get a couple for the post op week. I'm not a big reader but I'd like to read a couple of Christian books along with my bible during the time I can't do much else. What do y'all think about swapping books? Like once we're done, either mail it back to the owner or send it on to the next person in need of one? What's y'alls thoughts on that and any recommended books? Our church has a small library so I might can find some there. Pray for all of you!
  13. Yes - I've been overweight my entire life! Looking forward to getting to check off some things I've never felt comfortable doing.
  14. totally off question here... but with the unjury... how do you mix it? I am about to purchase the sample packets but wondered how many scoops equal a drink and do you mix it with water or ff milk? Thanks!
  15. Help. I don't see where to go to buy just the samples.
  16. Where is everyone from? What do you do for a living? Married or single? Any children? Any pets? I'm Wendy 30yr old- living in TN, from MS. My occupation is Client Relations with a local prosthetic company. Married and have 2 stepdaughters (18 & 20)
  17. 24th for me too! Excited and nervous!!
  18. Agree! I pray you all have a wonderful, peaceful, pain free week. Let the rest of our life begin!! Keep us updated!
  19. Congrads Nina on getting started. I did finish my 6 months diet. It flew by. I am still looking for a place to try and hold the support meetings. I plan to see if my boss will let us have it in our conference room. Not sure what all liability is in that though... uughh lawsuits have made life so hard. I don't really know where else to call about borrowing a room.
  20. Congrats on the surgery date Sarah. We will share the same date! I think there are at least 2 maybe 3 others on here with the 24th. I think it will be great to be able to keep in touch!!
  21. Any Miles or Schmitt patients with BCBS care to share their EOB from surgery? I'm still in limbo on how much this is going to cost me in the end. I know the deposit amount but I have NO IDEA what to expect after the insurance is billed. It looks like I would be better off financially to spend the night but I'm not sure if they will let me. I just wondered if anyone minds giving me a run down on their bills.. including physician, anesthesia, hospital, the band itself?! Thanks!!
  22. It was nice to meet you too Shawna! I too think its good to be made aware of the statistics! Today was the first appointment that my husband wasn't able to attend with me. I have preop next Friday so we are going to spend the night with my brother and attend the support group Saturday. So tell your hubby to come on! I think it's good for them to know what to expect also! Looking forward to the future!!!! :-)
  23. The seminar I went to was held by Dr. Miles and I was much more inspired when I left than I was with the other surgeon seminar I attended. I too have been a little uncomfortable with the lack of attention to my case recently but do believe that they are doing the best they can. I attended the required nutrition class today with Veronica & Ashley. It brought back the passion and confirmation I had that they do have our best intrest at hand. I do encourage you to attend other seminars if you are not comfortable with them. I feel you need to be very confident in your decision! This is going to be a long process with quite a few follow ups. Customer Relations is very important to me as that is my profession but when it comes to MY BODY.. I want experience 1st of all but also a staff that is willing to teach me each step of the way! Although I know they are busy, (that shows experience) I feel they will be there to help me work the tool! Wishing you the best!!! :-)
  24. I must agree that chaos must have hit in that office once all the BCBS patients (like myself) finally got finished with their 6 month diet. I never had any issues getting a reply to an email within a day of sending before but here lately it's been a little tougher. I loved the staff during the seminar, support group and my initial eval and am trying to be understanding about how busy they must be. But I do feel like I'm having to pull all the information out of them. This is new to all of us and I feel they might need to revamp their protocol so that we feel more comfortable going into this. I do prefer experience though so that was the seller for me!! Goodluck to all of you!!
